Chester Draws, in a parallel universe

Somewhere this week on MN, I've seen someone write about 'the luck of the drawer' - which still makes sense, as if there's a huge chest of many, many drawers & you have to pick one to open, without knowing what's inside any of them.

OP posts:

Someone was waffling on about something a rather.

Apparently, some people say "you've got another thing coming" instead of "think"

<runs away>

See I know it's another think coming, and obviously that makes sense, but "got another thing coming" just sounds better....so I continue to use that 🫣

Maybe this is a thing where I live but:

People ‘coach’ their pets

countrygirl99 · 14/03/2023 16:25

I often see posts about bridal paths. I imagine them bedecked with white bows and confetti. My horse would not be impressed.

Palm7rees · 14/03/2023 16:25

I’m going to elaborate on the ‘coaching ‘ of pets.

Inside I am saying to myself
“Coach him to do what, win an Olympic Medal”

RecordPlayer · 14/03/2023 16:25

I've read a post from someone trying to choose what 'source' to have on their meal.

GBoucher · 14/03/2023 16:29

What about those people who should 'of' worked harder at school?

Wishimaywishimight · 14/03/2023 16:30

Restbite care.

jizzlord · 14/03/2023 16:30

Bone apple tea

DPotter · 14/03/2023 16:31

Primary school HT wrote in newsletter how Covid had been a steep lurking curb for them

Good combo of malapropism and autocorrect - think I prefer it to the original saying.

I think some of the other, eg rest bite - could be down to using speech recognition software - I know I get some interesting stuff when I use mine

GBoucher · 14/03/2023 16:31

I remember someone at work sending around an email about his team's 'floorless' execution.

Wishimaywishimight · 14/03/2023 16:31

Mabelface · 14/03/2023 16:08

I could do with alot of rest bite.

Snap!

Lycanthropology · 14/03/2023 16:32

DD worked in a country pub, and there was a regular who kept taking her dog into the ladies, so they put a sign on the door saying "no dogs aloud"

So, no barking, basically!

Wishimaywishimight · 14/03/2023 16:33

A lady at a nearby table in a restaurant ordered 'turbo' obviously thinking 'turbot' had a silent 't'.

Palm7rees · 14/03/2023 16:35

@jizzlord had to Google that. Can’t believe it!

Saltywalruss · 14/03/2023 16:37

steep lurking curb just trying to imagine what one of those would look like 😁

Lycanthropology · 14/03/2023 16:38

Ay walla!

JadeSeahorse · 14/03/2023 16:39

Could someone let me have pacific details? 🙄

schnubbins · 14/03/2023 16:39

He is a 'lonely child' instead of an only child.

Hooklander · 14/03/2023 16:41

I've had a letter about the forthcoming local elections 'from your perspective Independent candidate'.

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 14/03/2023 16:41

My parents-in-law are always talking about how my DH's work is a "right cushty number". Whenever I comment that he doesn't work as a market trader in Peckham I am greeted with blank looks.

thetailorofgloucester · 14/03/2023 16:43

I have seen "know idea" on different threads at least twice recently

Tubbyinthehottub · 14/03/2023 16:45
