Somewhere this week on MN, I've seen someone write about 'the luck of the drawer' - which still makes sense, as if there's a huge chest of many, many drawers & you have to pick one to open, without knowing what's inside any of them.

I axed him.

I no.

AffIt · 14/03/2023 16:51

I love a good malapropism.

Always makes me think of this scene from The IT Crowd...

Haffiana · 14/03/2023 16:53

Tow the line.

Haffiana · 14/03/2023 16:53

Here here!

Haffiana · 14/03/2023 16:54

I'm on tenderhooks.

queenofthewild · 14/03/2023 16:55

I saw someone type "Jack of Potatoe" last week.

Couldn't fathom if it was a lunch dish or playing card.

GMOOH2023 · 14/03/2023 16:59

People being put on a pedal stool.

@Twospaniels
Yes, I know!
The headteacher put it had been a steep 'learning curb'.

Newlifenewme · 14/03/2023 17:01

kids these days! That’ll learn them a lesson

DPotter · 14/03/2023 16:31

Primary school HT wrote in newsletter how Covid had been a steep lurking curb for them

Good combo of malapropism and autocorrect - think I prefer it to the original saying.

I think some of the other, eg rest bite - could be down to using speech recognition software - I know I get some interesting stuff when I use mine

Yes! I'm thinking 'lurking curb' could be a new saying....I'll try it for a while on the kids, see if anyone actually pays attention to anything I say.

Lots of parents of children with SEN have their children seen by "an educational phycologist" which leads me to wonder if their ponds need training how to self clean...

And isn't it hilarious to mock them?
Shame on you.

If you think this is over, you've got another think coming

Haha

This is correct!!

OurCrazyHouseIsFullOfLove · 14/03/2023 17:13

I've seen
ALFIT for outfit

MandyMotherOfBrian · 14/03/2023 17:19

I saw ‘And there enlies the problem’ the other day. Marvellous.

anotherNameJustForThis · 14/03/2023 17:19

"And isn't it hilarious to mock them?

I don't think the OP is mocking the kids; just doing what almost everyone else on this thread is doing.

Twospaniels · 14/03/2023 17:25

My neighbour has an end suite next to her bedroom apparently

Wine4whine · 14/03/2023 17:31

GBoucher · 14/03/2023 16:29

What about those people who should 'of' worked harder at school?

If only their teachers had learned them better

Skaty · 14/03/2023 17:35

The use of chill as in “he’s a pretty chill person” makes my teeth itch

Shade17 · 14/03/2023 17:38

“It’s a mute point.” Good, in that case shut the fuck up then!

Shame on you.

Have I said anything on the groups? No. Have I named them on here? No.

LibertyLily · 14/03/2023 18:12

I saw an ebay listing for a fireplace that included a 'half' (hearth, I presume!) and also plenty of 'foot stalls' 😁

Janefondashair · 14/03/2023 18:27

I keep looking at an estate agent's listing for a house I dream about owning, and they can't spell "through". Everything is "the hallway leading threw to the kitchen" etc etc. It is quite a high end, expensive new build and it really looks lacking in professionalism.
