Somewhere this week on MN, I've seen someone write about 'the luck of the drawer' - which still makes sense, as if there's a huge chest of many, many drawers & you have to pick one to open, without knowing what's inside any of them.

I’ve seen “it’s a mind field” a few times on various platforms recently

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/03/2023 14:41

Nice one.

I did something off my own back the other day.

TokyoSushi · 14/03/2023 14:43

Lots of Bran New items on FB Marketplace.

electricmoccasins · 14/03/2023 14:45

You all need to reign it in and tow the line.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 14/03/2023 14:47

Primary school HT wrote in newsletter how Covid had been a steep lurking curb for them 🤦🏼‍♀️

😮I’ve just had a look online to see what I should be saying instead (‘off your own bat’)!
Please tell me I’m not the only one on here that has been saying it wrong all these years 😳.

Senseofnopurpose · 14/03/2023 15:44

In this stein age.

I think they meant to write: "in this day and age" !!

Perhaps it's a speech to text error.

TrombonesAreNotBones · 14/03/2023 15:49

One of my online nature groups has had a spotting of a monk jack deer reported. This made me smile.

JarByTheDoor · 14/03/2023 15:52

We can only hope it's not Gertrude.

JarByTheDoor · 14/03/2023 15:53

FFS quote not working. That was in response to @Senseofnopurpose.

Reallybadidea · 14/03/2023 15:59

Apparently, some people say "you've got another thing coming" instead of "think"

<runs away>

anythinginapinch · 14/03/2023 16:04

These are malapropisms named after Mrs Makaprop by Sheridan in mid 1700s iirc.

A man of great statue.

LEARNING curb. Doh!

Learning curve

TheClash2023 · 14/03/2023 16:08

My favourite ever sign was on the door of a derelict shop. It said

We are now closed for the unforseeable future

Mabelface · 14/03/2023 16:08

I could do with alot of rest bite.

Lycanthropology · 14/03/2023 16:09

I can't think of any examples at the moment, but I'm sure I will if you bare with me 😉

I see what you did there 😉

Mochinated · 14/03/2023 16:13

If you think this is over, you've got another think coming

Haha

coffeecookie · 14/03/2023 16:15

I see rest bite a lot. Usually from other professionals.

Someone has been chewing too much is all I can think.

tillytoodles1 · 14/03/2023 16:15

I was looking in a local shop and there was a printed sign on the wall that said "we no longer except checks". Surely one of the staff must have realised how stupid it looked.

Lycanthropology · 14/03/2023 16:17

I was genuinely confused when an estate agent was talking to me about their system allowing me to search for property on 'Pacific' streets.
I wa surprised by this, as I hadn't said I was leaving the UK!

ChesterDraws4Sale · 14/03/2023 16:17

i thought this was a thread about me.

Daffodilwreath · 14/03/2023 16:19

I was going to say rest bite as well...also "ofey" (au fait) 🤦‍♀️
