What is going on at the BBC right now?

What with the news breaking today ( 10/03/23) that Lineker is to step back from presenting Match of the Day and now Ian Wright is also not going to appear on the show in solidarity. They also have said that they will not air a David Attenborough (what the hell did he do/say that pushed their buttons) episode due to fears of a right-wing backlash. On top of that, Fiona Bruce has said that Stanley Johnson 'only' broke his wife's nose once (I mean just how many times is too many, I ask ye).

What the hell is going on at the BBC right now????

Sources:
David Attenborough being cancelled
Gary Lineker stepping back from MotD
Ian Wright standing by Gary
Fiona Bruce story

Just wondering if anyone can make sense of what is going on in the BBC at the moment.

Of course R4 said that. It’s a BBC outlet.

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:15

You better let the CEO of WWF know you know better

Nothing new there 😂

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:16

Some must really get high on their own supply.

I can’t imagine how much they rate themselves…

GPTec1 · 13/03/2023 08:16

R4 - confirming BBC commissioned five, offered to show sixth on iPlayer

Strange though that the one controversial one is stuck out on its own.

I assume the BBC could have chosen any of the 6 not to be shown on mainstream BBC TV?

Of course now what will happen is everyone & their dog will tune into iPlayer lol!

Aside, why is it that 'papers that don't support a posters pov are called "rags" but ones that do are great sources of unbiased information and news coverage?

imho they are ALL biased, so by definition are rags!

Listen to the interview with the WWF CEO and stop believing every bit of trash The Guardian puts out.

They’re no better than other click bait press

The response it is categorically not true re Attenborough claims

The Guardian was misleading, they are a rag these days

Only because you don’t agree with what they say

the Beeb could show this sixth programme, if they wanted to.

It’s a shame people are so entrenched that they can’t bring themselves to listen to the CEO of WWF who has actual knowledge and insight.

But that’s SM and general level of ability these days.

Blossomtoes · 13/03/2023 08:30

Absolutely. Anyone who believes anything in any media to be unbiased is deluded.

GPTec1 · 13/03/2023 08:30

Rather presumptuous that you think i did not? i did.

But however you dress it up, the BBC has chosen to show the most controversial one on a minority channel, they 've plenty of room in the schedules to show all 6.

So i think its only fair to ask was that decision taken without influence from the Government.

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:32

Ah yes the CEO was dressing it up.

Let her know. Send an email.

How would the CEO know if the BBC had come under pressure not to show on mainstream TV?

Your ability to never question this Tory Government, is frankly astounding.

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:38

The delusion here is usual SM low ability matched with high opinion of own views.

Give me listening to WWF CEO any day. Clear, sensible and respectful obviously doing well at job.

Oh she was pressured. Ok…

Heres a tin foil hat to go with your blind bias.

Your belief that you are more knowledgeable than just about anyone is frankly laughable.

Blossomtoes · 13/03/2023 08:45

Here’s one to go with yours. All media outlets are biased and should be consumed with scepticism.

Squamata · 13/03/2023 08:47

The people leading the BBC are rotten but the actual staff are intelligent, informed and committed to factual reporting. They're just sitting out the current Tory takeover like a spell of measles.

I wouldn't write the BBC off. It needs funding reform but it will outlast the Tory party. The latter will be in the bin within a decade. They'll never come back from brexit.

Once again Marsha, you are aggressive and condescending, "low ability" really, no need for it.

The tory right really do not like challenge.

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:48

Question to WWF CEO

Were The Guardian claims true?

Answer They are categorically not true

Typical response I know better. yeh right. Such delusion.

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:49

How is it a challenge 😂

She confirmed that you were all wrong. You just can’t hack it due to egos

No point in arguing. It’s like trying to nail a jelly to the wall. Bear in mind this is someone who’s always complaining about insults and sneering from “the left”. Pot and kettle spring to mind.

GPTec1 · 13/03/2023 08:52

As i said, how would the WWF CEO know what pressure was applied to Richard Sharp or Robbie Gibb? (both Johnson appointees) former Tory advisor and married to a Tory MP, his primary role is on impartiality.

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2023 08:53

And yet here you all are quoting and responding to nearly every post

If you want to give up finally as I’ve asked before

Go for it. It’s painful having to say it each time. I find your ego huge and so too poor at hearing something you don’t like.

If you finally do ignore my posts it’ll be happy days.

Incorrect, i haven't sneered at Marsha or insulted her... pot and kettle is not appropriate.

I'm just waiting for the CBA !

Marsha has degraded herself by resorting to insults. That’s all she has left.

GPTec1 · 13/03/2023 08:56

Ha ha leave the thread marsha or perhaps MN as you seem to come out with this to any number of posters across MN, if you can't stand the heat etc

You re not the thought police and anyone can can quote you for ever more.
