What is going on at the BBC right now?

What with the news breaking today ( 10/03/23) that Lineker is to step back from presenting Match of the Day and now Ian Wright is also not going to appear on the show in solidarity. They also have said that they will not air a David Attenborough (what the hell did he do/say that pushed their buttons) episode due to fears of a right-wing backlash. On top of that, Fiona Bruce has said that Stanley Johnson 'only' broke his wife's nose once (I mean just how many times is too many, I ask ye).

What the hell is going on at the BBC right now????

Sources:
David Attenborough being cancelled
Gary Lineker stepping back from MotD
Ian Wright standing by Gary
Fiona Bruce story

Just wondering if anyone can make sense of what is going on in the BBC at the moment.

@GPTec1 it was in fact the UK Govt which failed to deport him back to Iraq.

Apparently, he not only changed his name but converted to Christianity, then claimed he would be persecuted if he was deported.
While this application was pending he decided to go and blow up Liverpool Maternity Hospital and blew up himself instead.

Yes i read your link but that fact is, the Government didn't deport him, despite a judge throwing out his asylum case and Norway refusing him entry, so a better question should be:

"Why was he even allowed into the UK"

So we have "pinko" tory ministers, running our borders.

Why are you surprised at this?

Who’s surprised? It’s pretty obvious that the BBC is the government’s mouthpiece. It needs a complete clear out at the top with a board, chairman and DG formed of industry experts with no history of political affiliation.

Problem is, if the government has the leverage to take away the BBC's license fee at any time, then they're not going to hold them to account.

Because he came illegally and wasn't detected.

Also people have a right to claim asylum here, no matter how they arrived and how many other asylum claims they have made to other countries.

So we have "pinko" tory ministers, running our borders.

No, we have "pinko" laws/charters that we have to abide by as long as we are in UNHCR.

Exactly.
