What outside noise can you hear right now?

What noises can you from either outside or from your neighbours? So not noises that are being made from from your own family.

I have just heard the air ambulance go over (I live 2 miles from base), I can hear what sounds like somebody shoveling gravel and also my neighbour banging around in his kitchen (he is incapable of doing anything without making a racket!)

Crashing waves and a howling wind - it's heavenly!

student26 · 19/02/2023 13:24

I’m sat in my greenhouse and can hear my five chickens clucking away and pecking at some bread in a bird feeder. The wind and birds singing. Blissful.

Bemyclementine · 19/02/2023 13:25

Birds.

Walkinginthesand · 19/02/2023 13:26

The sound of people chatting as they walk by and the occasional car. That’s today, a Sunday. Tomorrow there will be more cars including those reversing with sound signals and building noise from at least one refurbishment project. No birds but there probably are if I go to the rear of the house

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 19/02/2023 13:26

@Needmorelego It's infuriating isn't it. There were 6 of them racing around the common near our house.

My mum has loads of issues with them too at all times of day and night.

TheWitchwithNoName · 19/02/2023 13:29

A spitfire

Blanketpolicy · 19/02/2023 13:31

We are in a cul de sac, so very occasional car and thats about it. Too cold and windy here today for kids in street playing.

isthismylifenow · 19/02/2023 13:31

The insufferable beeep beeep from my UPS as my power is out.

They just flew off, but there were two Hadeda birds in my garden. They are not named the noisiest birds in Africa for no reason. They don't make a noise while landed, just when in motion. (They make good alarm clocks in the morning )

MsMable · 19/02/2023 13:33

Birds chirping and my bloody broken gazebo flapping in the wind

IloveRickyGervaisAndHisTeeth · 19/02/2023 13:34

Acar driving up the road
Birds twittering on next-door's roof

That's it.

RealMcKoy · 19/02/2023 13:36

I can hear very distant roadworks. It's very quiet around here in Zone 2 London.

flatpack1 · 19/02/2023 13:40

traffic thundering past as always. my bedroom is only a couple of metres from the main road and traffic never stops

OnMyWayToSenility · 19/02/2023 13:44

I can hear passing cars as I live on a rural main road.

In the garden I can someone trimming a hedge they've been going since 10 😱

isthismylifenow · 19/02/2023 13:45

Here is a clip of the Hadeda bird that I mentioned. They certainly make themselves known as they are usually in pairs.

SpringIsSpringing23 · 19/02/2023 12:49

Your plane has just flown over my house 😄

Now it's over mine!

Apart from that, I can only hear the birds.

ladymacbeth · 19/02/2023 13:47

I'm so jealous of your peaceful surrounds!

I can hear neighbours going down the stairs, and the front door slam.

Someone is revving their engine on the street

Various conversations being had by pedestrians

Birds and parakeets

A plane coming from Stanstead

Horns and a distant fire engine siren

The ticking of my timer switch which always adds an ominous sound!

London flat so this is incredibly peaceful compared with some moments (3am upstairs neighbours, looking at you)

ApolloandDaphne · 19/02/2023 13:48

Just the wind blowing. Inside all i hear is the dog snoring. Bliss.

Hah I'm also zone 2 and was just lamenting the noise!

Paperexcelandpens · 19/02/2023 13:53

Nothing. I live rurally in a detached property so can't hear anything right now.

Shitzngiggles · 19/02/2023 13:54

Planes taking off every few minutes, not a problem though, I love living so near an airport. In between can hear birds. Very quiet here at the moment, doesn't seem to be any neighbours doing anything in their gardens or kids playing.

Needmorelego · 19/02/2023 13:54

Oh no....kids and a ruddy basketball have just turned up.
Bounce
Bounce
Bounce
Bounce
Bounce
🤣

cassiatwenty · 19/02/2023 13:56

@ladymacbeth But what do they do at 3 AM? A bit rude. Some people work or go to bed early 😬

AmberGer · 19/02/2023 13:56

I'm at work in the staff room. I can hear the fridge running.
Someone crunching food.
Someone coughing.
Someone talking on the phone in the next room.
The distant sound of the radio in the warehouse.

ladymacbeth · 19/02/2023 14:00

Oh nothing exciting. They seem to pace around a lot, play music, drop heavy things on the floor, slam doors etc. honestly never living under someone again

emptythelitterbox · 19/02/2023 14:06

I'm amazed at all the sounds everyone hears.

I'm mostly deaf and hear my tinnitus ringing since I'm writing about it.

I seldom hear the birds anymore unless they're practically next to me.

Occasionally I'll hear a car if they're zooming their engine but never hear cars go by.

I sometimes can still hear boat horns and their diesel engine noises if I have the window open and stand next to it.

I could put my hearing aids in and things would be so loud. Like a big mass of noises coming at me at the same time. I then can sometimes pick out some things but the anxiety all the background noise makes me anxious and isn't worth it.

I do remember some sounds like a mosquito buzzing around your head, certain music that I recall being so incredibly beautiful.
