Anyone else got this bastard coughing bug?

DS and all his classmates had this coughing bug and now it's sweeping the parents too. Been coughing solidly for two weeks. At times coughing so hard I've been been sick and struggled to catch my breath. My pelvic floor is pleading for mercy.

Doctor has listened to my chest and there's no infections. I've tested for Covid daily and everything is coming back negative.

Still I can't stop fucking coughing.

Anyone else? How long before it passes....

Had it for over a month now. 2 rounds of antibiotics and steroids. Was given a once a day steroid inhaler which seems to be helping but chest still tight

Babyroobs · 10/02/2023 21:20

I have cough, tight wheezy chest and severe headache. Did a covid test this morning and it was negative. Ds's gf has had a cough for months which is not shifting and she is young, early twenties.

Oh god, it’s horrible - we all had for three weeks at Xmas. Eventually I bought ALL the vitamins, lemons for hot juice, berroca, echinacea, just everything for the immune system I could chuck at it and it did start to turn a corner. Maybe it would have done anyway but I was seriously losing faith!

Yes my DH has been sick two weeks, can't sleep for coughing. DDs never get anything and one was coughing for a week and a half and the other for three days which is unheard of.

Bloody bugs - hoping for early spring

BrummiMummi · 10/02/2023 21:26

Yep!! 2 weeks in - horrible dry, nasty cough no sore throat but really wheezy in my throat - also sinus issues, so much so that hubby said I looked strange 😂 Quite relieved to hear it’s something going round as I was starting to get a bit worried!

BrummiMummi · 10/02/2023 21:28

No idea why or how but Vicks on the feet plus two pairs of socks works wonders at night. Been doing it for a while now but don’t know why it works 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you google there’s lots of people who will swear by it… try it and see if it works for you.

Bytrgrewd · 10/02/2023 21:39

Yay I’ve found my people 🙄
I had to sleep sitting up and could barely eat as it made me cough.
Hope everyone feels better soon.

Phos · 10/02/2023 21:41

My daughter has it. She had a temperature and felt sorry for herself for a day then perked up but she can't shake the damn cough. It's been a fortnight now. Touch wood tonight she's coughed a little less since going to bed but not counting my chickens yet!

Oldraver · 10/02/2023 21:44

Yes me. I've been coughing solidly since last Wednesday but rarely bringing anything up -but pissing myself--

I don't feel too ill but no way would I be able to be at work

I managed to get a phone appointment so not listened to my chest so gp is of the opinion that as I'm not hacking up it's a virus

Cece92 · 10/02/2023 21:47

It really is doing the Rounds. My dad has it and when I say he is never unwell I mean never and even if he is he's usually 2 days max ans fine. 2 weeks and and he is still coughing and nasaly. No idea where he got it he works solo and is very fit. A few team mates have had it too. I am not feeling great tonight hoping it's just a coincidence and I'll wake up feeling better xxx

BrummiMummi · 10/02/2023 21:47

Is it like just an incredibly annoying non-productive pointless cough that everyone has? It’s driving me crazy! Have given up after 2 weeks of trying to be healthy and having am having a beer!

WoolyMammoth55 · 10/02/2023 21:49

Had it for 5 weeks, just out the other side for the past week or so. Pelvic floor now back to normal but OMG I wet myself every time I coughed with that bug! Brutal.

Wish you a speedy recovery <3

Mumoftwoinprimary · 10/02/2023 21:49

I caught it in early December. It has finally gone now. Have actually pulled a muscle under my ribs that is still painful.

I have had “I’ve a cough I can’t shake off” rattling round my head to the tune of a rather famous Meatloaf song…..

TeaandHobnobs · 10/02/2023 21:49

One week so far for me. Actually had a sick bug too in the middle of it, so now the coughing not only hurts my lungs, makes me retch and challenges my pelvic floor, but my core is also dying from the vomiting too.
And it made me lose my voice, it’s only just starting to recover, but I still can’t sing (this is a sad thing for me!)

I haven’t felt that “ill”, as in no fever or anything, but I am heartily fucking sick of coughing.

Neverknowinglysensible · 10/02/2023 21:50

I’ve had it now since Boxing Day and it will not go away. I’m another one who has been vomiting purely because of coughing so much. Giving much sympathy to my fellow sufferers.
I honestly thought Pholcodine had been discontinued. Now I know it still exists, I will be waiting outside the chemist at 9am tomorrow!

Another one here - a week of coughing so hard I can’t breathe. Pelvic floor taking a battering! Get well wishes to everyone!

TeddyBeans · 10/02/2023 22:15

I had one before Xmas and DS has managed to give me another one after Xmas. Have been coughing horrendous amounts for about 4 weeks now but seem to be starting to come out of the other side. My pelvic floor was already under pressure from pregnancy but these coughs have just destroyed me. I've been wearing pads for weeks! Was hoping to have a few weeks of feeling well before DD makes her appearance but that's looking unlikely at 38 weeks 😫

CalmConfident · 10/02/2023 22:18

2 weeks now and finally starting to feel better. Totally agree re pelvic floor, Tena needed here as well!

Winewednesday · 10/02/2023 22:22

Yes!! I have had it for a couple of weeks now and for the 10 days or so I've had blocked sinuses. The worst I've felt in years!

Costacoffeeplease · 10/02/2023 22:25

I’ve had it for about 6 weeks and it’s just about gone now

IrishMamaMia · 10/02/2023 22:29

Got this from my kids over the Christmas holidays and just over it now (although still coughing up the occasional phlegm). It was the weirdest tickly, gasping for air cough. Mucus loosening cough bottle did the trick eventually. Also had the pelvic floor issue.

myveryownelectrickitten · 10/02/2023 22:30

Me, thought it would be over in a couple of days but I’ve been in bed all week 😩

grapestar · 10/02/2023 22:32

Yes, I've had it since 22nd December and I'm still peeing myself when I'm not being sick from nearly coughing to death. It got a bit better about 3 weeks ago, but then 2 weeks ago came back with a vengeance

That's not really normal - have you contacted a doctor? Could you have whooping cough?
