Thread 5 - TalkExiles: "The Planet Goes On Being Round"

1000 replies

Kucinghitam · 07/02/2023 14:43

Continuation of previous lifeboat threads (thread 4).

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

Oh cripes, donwe have to do that strange People's Front of Judea shit here as well?

As a non party political, but left leaning person, the tendancy of the left to shoot itself the foot with tedious infighting never ceases to astound me.

mach2 · 24/02/2023 08:03

For it to be infighting, Starmer would need to be a lefty. 🤣

Kucinghitam · 24/02/2023 08:31

Politics board >>>>>>

(Actually, I don't really mind it being discussed on here, I'll just 😴 until it's over Wink)

the problem with politics at the minute is I'm 99% sure my next ballot will be spoiled, with me drawing a spunking cock and writing "none of these cunts thank you"

Just be careful not to draw it next to any particular candidate, lest it be interpreted as a vote for them.

A picture of Gove then 😁

SinnerBoy · 24/02/2023 09:26

Thanks. I'm still on my first cup of coffee.

Absolutely agree Gin.

duc748 · 24/02/2023 11:02

I'm not interested in re-hashing Starmer v Corbyn, but making the general point about KS's spinelessness, as evidenced by the 'what is a woman' question, and every other policy he's turned upside down. And it's not really funny at all, cos it's disenfranchising me, and plenty of other posters here too, it seems.

MavisMcMinty · 24/02/2023 12:05

Starting to understand how people can vote for people like Boris Johnson now - I am focused on getting the Tories out (equivalent to “getting Brexit done”) and trying not to think too hard about anything else. In any case it’s likely to be Lib Dem where I am for non-Tory voters. That is all that matters right now, but it would be helpful if Starmer/Labour could not fuck up their staggering poll lead with stupid, short-sighted, behind-the-curve of public opinion, unforced errors. The chances of anyone ousting my Tory MP with his 25K majority are slim enough already, without me wasting a vote by drawing a cockenballs on my ballot.

Ginmonkeyagain · 24/02/2023 13:31

Can't disagree with that.

MavisMcMinty · 24/02/2023 13:46

In happier news, I found a pack of M&S pigs in blankets in the freezer and they’re in the Aga as I type.

mach2 · 24/02/2023 13:53

Mmmm...pigs in blankets. An issue around which all can unite.

MavisMcMinty · 24/02/2023 13:58

I only really like them cold from the fridge, so it’ll be ages before I can eat them. Luckily I’m on a laundry jag today and still have to walk the animals, so they’ll be good and cold when I’m back from that.

Don’t be so sure: as a vegetarian, I am very much opposed to pigs in blankets!

My constituency went from apparently safe Tory (majority close to 25K) to safe Labour (majority close to 20K) in 1997 so big majorities can be overturned.

MavisMcMinty · Today 13:46

In happier news, I found a pack of M&S pigs in blankets in the freezer and they’re in the Aga as I type.

I re-read that a couple of times, wondering why anyone would put Percy Pigs in the freezer, then the Aga...

MavisMcMinty · 24/02/2023 18:29

I’ve eaten all 14 (strange number but hey) pigs in blankets. macman is not a fan of sausages and they’d all gone before he got home anyway, but I don’t feel any need to cook dinner now but don’t want to admit my gluttony when there’s no remaining evidence of it. (Meat-laden poo tomorrow notwithstanding.)

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 24/02/2023 23:34

The meat-laden poo will be your secret. Toilets never talk. Unless of course it's so heavy it refuses to flush and then the evidence will be there for all, or in this case, just MacMan, to see.

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 24/02/2023 23:35

Too many fucking commas. It's Django's fault he was all over me as I was typing and I got confused.

duc748 · 24/02/2023 23:45

Shoulders with artant on pwb. First home game of the season tonight: very entertaining, but boy is it cold! Back home now and fired up with woodburner, got it really blasting now and I am just starting to thaw out! Still, eleven tries! I'll look forward to seeing on the highlights on replay later.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 25/02/2023 01:09

You're welcome to your PiBs. I had oyster mushroom bao for lunch today. Then dinner was tofu katsu, seitan katsu, miso aubergine, broccolini gomane, izakaya cabbage, pickled cucumber, and sticky rice. Followed by a big slice of chocolate cake. And I didn't have to cook any of it.

I do like birthdays.

Kucinghitam · 25/02/2023 04:51

I love PIBs. And meat.

But I also love everything @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn described.

Heck, I love food.

Was it your birthday, Bint? If so, many happy returns!

Britinme · 25/02/2023 08:17

@BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn - that sounds like an amazing meal! Happy birthday if it was yours (mine on Tuesday!)

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 25/02/2023 09:50

It was, thank you.

Happy birthday for Tiesday, Brit. I hope you get some time off cleaning and organising.
