Morning all!

Many of the task lists have left me exhausted just reading them! I just love banana bread @Mumtobabyhavoc It reminds me of my childhood. My mother used to also make courgette and walnut bread - i always have the two linked together in my mind because she seemed to make them at the same time!

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Smile

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/07/2023 06:52

Summer, just waiting for laundry to finish so I can hang it up and go to bed and saw your post. Chocolate "zucchini" bread with/out walnuts is one of my faves. I've never mastered a recipe as mine always ends up too wet. I think I need to strain/squeeze the water out of the grated zucchini, but so many people have told me they never do that. So, if you've got a good recipe to pass along...

Have a good day today. 😊

Peridot1 · 13/07/2023 07:41

Yum to banana bread. Can’t make it as I would eat it all!

Not much achieved here as have a poorly dog. She has vestibular syndrome. Basically bad vertigo. She had it quite badly when I was in Australia in February but recovered well but started again yesterday. Poor thing. Was sick and keeps falling over. Can’t manage steps. DS slept downstairs on the sofa with her and then DH got up at 5am to take over. I could hear her whining so got up. DH hadn’t fed her so we did that. Hadn’t taken her out so we did that. She was obviously hungry and desperate for a pee. She is now finally sleeping peacefully beside me.

Not sure what will get done today but I would like to change my bed and do some ironing.

SpiritOfEdna · 14/07/2023 09:30

Morning - going to have a easy day today

  • some ironing - so I feel less guilty about having the ironing board up for 3 days on the run and having done nothing
  • change my bed
  • fill up the new toolbox so I don't have to empty the shed to find whatever it is i'm looking for EVERY TIME
  • find my sodding debit card which has gone awol in the house
Living the dream! I am going to finish work at 4, put my feet up, open a bottle of alcohol free wine and plan my weekend 😄 Have a good day, SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/07/2023 16:11

It must be quitting time for you now, Spirit. 😃
Your tool box idea is a good one!

Havoc had a diaper leak middle of the night, so I've got laundry in right now.

Aria999 · 14/07/2023 17:33

Lol at the breeding glasses @RunningKatie

<waves at everyone >

I have been up to the eyeballs in work the last two weeks. I Sent It To The Client at 5pm yesterday and he hasn't replied yet so I'm having a sudden lull.

Sorting out DH's old travel laptop to take when we travel as I have a strong feeling this project is not done with me yet.

ThunderclapCloud · 15/07/2023 06:58

@Peridot1 one of our dogs had that. It's absolutely miserable for them isn't it? And therefore for you. Best wishes xx

RunningKatie · 16/07/2023 17:44

How's ddog @Peridot1? Sounds so sad for them.

Busy weekend here, I'm out again tonight, but really pleased my friend has suggested somewhere local, I am hoping to be home at a civilised hour so I can go to bed early.

I'm so bored of the rain, DH has decided to start on project re-roof shed. Given that it's pouring, stage 1 seems to have been remove half the roof. Honestly, I do wonder how he's got into his 50s in one piece at times.

petalpower · 16/07/2023 19:57

I feel your pain @RunningKatie . My DH has booked a scaffold tower for a week’s time to fix the edge of our roof. It sounds rather dangerous to me but he won’t be told.

Peridot1 · 17/07/2023 09:31

@RunningKatie - she is a lot better but still not herself really. We had been taking it in turns to sleep downstairs with her until last night. Thought she was ok to be in utility room as normal but she started barking at around 3 so I came down and slept on the sofa again with her. She’s a bit funny with food now too. Struggling to eat anything hard today even things she is usually ok with. So not sure what that’s about.

I am also bored of the rain. Although it’s not raining here today but it still isn’t great weather.

Jobs wise I tidied out a corner cupboard in the kitchen on Saturday. More to be done.

Today I need to change my bed and maybe do some ironing. I think those jobs were on my list last week.

Oh crikey, he lives on the edge!!

ThunderclapCloud · 17/07/2023 15:03

Sympathies also @RunningKatie !
Mine like to wait till it's very very hot then will mow the lawn and trim hedges all in one very sweaty burst. There's no telling him so I just wait for the heart attack!

ThunderclapCloud · 17/07/2023 15:08

I had labyrinthitis once, @Peridot1 . It took me several weeks to eat normally and walk in a straight line, but was ok in the end.
Our dog was never quite right after the vestibular episodes I am sad to say, but he was already quite elderly. It was unrelated heart failure that took him in the end though. Getting older is not for the faint hearted is it? 😔

ThunderclapCloud · 17/07/2023 15:13

Windy but sunshiny here. Good drying weather which is useful for an afternoon off!
How are your hols @SummerLobelia?

I'm doing some study today, and so am attempting to keep my little desk area uncluttered and simple to look at.

I have given my kitchen floor a sweep and a bit of a scrub. And I have added my thoughts to one of those mad threads where people are airing their views about the best way to use their washing machine.
Working in people's homes as I do, it's very clear that we all do things very differently to each other, in all areas, so I can't get too exercised about any of it!

Peridot1 · 17/07/2023 15:33

@ThunderclapCloud - I can imagine it’s bloody awful. She took a few weeks to get back to herself last time. And hasn’t been herself since really. Also elderly - she was 13 in March. Poor thing has had a crappy few weeks as she had surgery five weeks ago so was just getting back to walks gently and now this. She’s pretty fed up really. Moving around the house to her usual spots and just whining off and on. Will see how she is over next day or so and see if we need to take her to the vet.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/07/2023 16:33

Peridot, I'm sorry your poor doggy is not well. 💐

SpiritOfEdna · 18/07/2023 10:39

@Peridot1 sorry Peridoggo is not well, poor thing.

I am almost in holiday mode; a couple of busy days and then I am done for the week.
Today

  • am sitting waiting for the joiner to arrive to fix the stairs, before we move to next phase of home improvements 😄
  • need to reframe the picture I reframed yesterday; it is off by a couple of mms, but it'll drive me mad
  • need to go and pick up some stuff at local retail park
  • tell my old employer that I am sending them back some cables that have been sitting in my shed ! They promised to send a courrier to pick them up - a year ago, although I just want them gone now.
That's all for today, have a good day SoE
RunningKatie · 18/07/2023 18:22

I am so ready for my bed tonight, and it's not even 7pm. It's been super busy at home and work, and it might only be Tuesday but I can see a tiny light at the end of the tunnel.
DH is food shopping tonight, I am swim mum taxi. I am hoping to sort out the sideboard this week, it's become quite a holder of stuff. With the school holidays looming fast, I'm hoping the dc will play the games and do the crafts. Either that or they are going!

ThunderclapCloud · 19/07/2023 06:44

I think tbh my kids would have had to go if they wouldn't do games or crafts, @RunningKatie 😂
Seriously I hope you got a good night's sleep!

There's a lot to be said for getting rid of unused stuff. I always used to think if I tidied it up they'd play with it. Never did learn until youngest was about 14. That was when I came across all the slow living/minimalist blogs and flylady.

I hope doggy is feeling a bit better @Peridot1 Ours was on medication for it after the second bout. I don't know how much good it did.

Best wishes all round.

Today I also plan to do something about a sideboard. I want to send something I bought back too but I have a suspicion I won't get round to it as I'm meeting a friend for coffee later.

Have a good day everyone xx

Peridot1 · 19/07/2023 08:24

Morning all.

Dog still not herself. I ended up sleeping on the sofa again with her on the floor beside me as she wouldn’t settle in the utility room. I’m wondering if she has dementia now. It seems to be more than the vestibular syndrome going on.

Yesterday I finally managed to change my bed. And took a couple of bags of clothes to the charity boxes in a car park. Except I still have one to go as they were all pretty full.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2023 16:36

Oh no Peridot. I'm sorry your poor doggy is not improving. You sound like you are giving lots of love and it's the best you can do. 💐

ThunderclapCloud · 19/07/2023 19:32

You must be shattered @Peridot1 Our little fellow became very clingy and we ended up sitting down a lot as he'd follow us wherever we went in the house, and just curl up by our feet. I hope yours settles down soon.

SummerLobelia · 20/07/2023 06:09

I am so sorry @Peridot1 about your poor dog. One of ours had vestibular syndrome (It was first misdiagnosed as a stroke and then we got an MRI). It was so debilitating for him. Such a difficult time. But she has so much love from you. Thanks

Sorry for my silence... we are still away and i am not accessing MN very often. I need to read and catch up. I hope everyone is well. ❤

Peridot1 · 20/07/2023 09:05

Thanks for all the wishes and sympathies. She is up and down. DS slept downstairs with her last night and I got up at five to let him go to bed and then I managed another hour or so on the sofa. She actually improved quite a bit yesterday. Is struggling with steps in and out of the house. She is eating but struggling with it a bit and leaves a bit of a mess. So she is now on wet food rather than her normal kibble.

How are you feeling @Mumtobabyhavoc? Any improvement?

ThunderclapCloud · 20/07/2023 13:51

Afternoon everyone! Good wishes to all. I have an hour at home today. Just had a quick coffee and emptied cat litter, cleaned bin and wiped down the oven. I still haven't sent the two parcels. Tomorrow's another day!
Home at 7, hopefully DH will feed me. Doubt I'll do more than stick my nose in a book this eve
