Friend and her BIG house

I have a friend I met through a hobby about five years ago.

She lives in a big house that I've been to quite a few times, so I'm fully aware, but she drops it in conversation all the time. Is this weird?

Eg. I moan about having some cleaning to do, her "think yourself lucky you don't have to clean my big house!"

Conversation about when our kids were growing up "well, I've been lucky living in a big house, so much easier with space"

Inane chat about the size of her dog "yes, I'm so glad I have a big house!"

Seriously, it gets shoehorned into a conversation every time we meet (maybe once a month)

I don't care about the size of her house 😂

I just go on about the joy of living small. So much better for the earth, for my children's future, really. LESS to clean, so fewer chemicals in the environment. Also, less time cleaning is more time with dh and children, and SO much more responsible to keep our carbon footprint more reasonable, don't you think?

She should try living in Nottingham Cottage it's tiny, the staff keep banging their heads on the low ceilings, and the cat hits every wall and I'm not even holding it with an outstretched arm.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I live in a house that sounds a bit like the one you describe (in terms of size). I am always very low key about it as I don't want to upset people who don't have as much space. Plus with three teenage boys it's quite often a tip and nothing to brag about 😂

I know you are probably joking buy we live in small places deliberately, large places don't upset me

Just thought - you could always say “oh, we bought our little place outright with cash. We didn’t want a mortgage on a big house, aren’t we lucky!”

Sounds like she is overcompensating. I would probably just make a funny comment about it to shut her up.

We live in a fairly large home and wouldn't dream of mentioning it in conversation to anyone, never posted a pic on social media or anything like that.

My house isn't that little 😂 but I see your point
