What was the first album you ever owned? Would you still listen to it now?

I was reminded of my first album recently, so had a listen on Spotify... interesting experience! Some of it was exciting and great, some utter crap. It was - going all the way back to 1981- Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants. I was 12.

What was your first album, and do you still like it?

Some great classics in there, many that I know well. Nice how many are still being listened to. I feel a new Spotify playlist coming on... !

Besides the Disney records and an Irish Rovers album it was Loverboy (debut, self-titled), 1980.

But were you ‘lovin every minute of it’?

(disclaimer. I know it wasn’t on that album but then the joke wouldn’t work 😂)

Pretty sure mine was "Grease" sound track from the movie. Yes I would still enjoy listening to it now.

Kylie by Kylie

On cassette. I still remember her fab hat/hair on the cover.

Yes 100% 😁

Mine too! Love the album, although I don't have the vinyl anymore (I replaced it with a cd years later) I do occasionally listen on Spotify!

First one I chose: Vienna by Ultravox

First that was bought specifically for me: The Muppets Album

I get a lot of joy out of each of them still 😂

YouremywifenowTubs · 30/12/2022 14:07

Kylie Minogue's first album when I was 8 or 9.

Not a fucking chance I’d listen to that shite now.

Vitriolinsanity · 30/12/2022 16:27

@Badger1970 mine was also Rio. I bloody loved Duran Duran and claimed John Taylor before @Sparklingbrook

Once Upon a Star by The Bay City Rollers and every time I hear Bye Bye Baby I still sing along and smile. Reminds me of a carefree time screaming my head off when, aged 13, I went to see them at Hammersmith Odeon.

Happy days 😀

Nursery Cryme by Genesis

I still think the music is amazing.

nancy75 · 30/12/2022 17:27

I had 2 (gifts I was about 5)
The Grease soundtrack
Boney M night flight to Venus
I still have them both!
Grease has t been played in years but surprisingly Boney M is popular with DD and friends in an ‘ironic’ way 🙄

Lysianthus · 30/12/2022 17:28

Saturday Night Fever on vinyl, still have it

pilates · 30/12/2022 17:29

Michael Jackson Off The Wall - still one of my favourite albums

Lesina · 30/12/2022 17:29

Bat out of Hell. I was 12. Still one of my go to albums. Wouldn’t live without it.

Reflex, Duran Duran, I occasionally listen to them now.

lmnabc · 30/12/2022 19:42

Donny Osmond - puppy love 🥰

tobee · 30/12/2022 19:46

Probably Eddie, Old Bob, Dick and Gary by Tenpole Tudor coz my best friend told me to Hmm

Or maybe Parallel Lines by Blondie but not when it was released. This was because I wanted it.

Would I listen again? Tenpole Tudor? Probably for a bet. Blondie? Downloaded from Apple music this year !

Yep, same here. And yes, I do still listen to it today though I now listen on Spotify. The actual record is still there with my other records.

33goingon64 · 30/12/2022 19:54

Hunting High and Low by A-ha when I was 7 and yes I still listen to it. It's still one of my favourite albums.

charabang · 30/12/2022 19:58

Apart from those Woolworths Top of the Pops albums (not recorded by the original artists and complete with busty maiden on the cover) I think my first album was Parallel Lines by Blondie.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 30/12/2022 20:13

Mine was kylie minogue-enjoy yourself and Jason Donovan- ten good reasons. Got them both on same day with my first portable cassette player.

MrsMariaReynolds · 30/12/2022 20:21

Madonna's Like a Virgin. I got it for my 8th birthday 😱 (along with an amazing purple 80's cassette player)

ememem84 · 30/12/2022 20:40

What’s the story morning glory - oasis. And yes I’d absolutely still listen. I was 11 when it came out.

BlancmanegeBunny · 30/12/2022 20:43

The Police. Regatta de Blanc

Would definitely still listen too it.
