What was the first album you ever owned? Would you still listen to it now?

I was reminded of my first album recently, so had a listen on Spotify... interesting experience! Some of it was exciting and great, some utter crap. It was - going all the way back to 1981- Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants. I was 12.

What was your first album, and do you still like it?

Spice Girls - Spice. Yeah I think I would. Wannabe always gets turned up loud and badly sung to when it's on the radio

Kylie by Kylie

On cassette. I still remember her fab hat/hair on the cover.

Yes 100% 😁

A-ha - Hunting High And Low. I’m almost sure my parents got the tape for me for Christmas in 1985. I drove my family bonkers playing A-ha a lot over the next 5 years or so. I don’t have the tapes anymore, but still listen to a bit of Morton on occasion 😍

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/12/2022 20:26

Probably was the spice girls- and yep I’d still listen to it for nostalgia

PJ and Duncan - Psyche. End of primary school.
No, I do not listen to that these days; became a total metalhead not long after the PJ and Duncan days 😆

Neneh Cherry, Raw like Sushi. Still a great listen.

Agreed. I don't listen to it very often but when I do I really enjoy it.

No Parlez - Paul Young

Yes, I still listen 😀

N0RKS · 29/12/2022 20:32

blondie - Parallel Lines
absolutely chock full of bangers!
still listen to it once every couple of months

Ponks · 29/12/2022 20:32

Tears for Fears - The Hurting. Still love several of the tracks.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 29/12/2022 20:33

Prince Charming (yet another Ant fan!) on cassette - I later upgraded to a CD and absolutely still listen - one of those albums that works really well as a whole piece.

YellowRedBlueGreen · 29/12/2022 20:34

Michael Jackson's Bad album. 30 years later still utterly obsessed with him 💓

AbbyGal · 29/12/2022 20:35

All Mod Cons by The Jam and, yes, I do still listen to it now.

Fathercrossmas · 29/12/2022 20:36

That's what I call music 24
And whatever Eternals album was called, I must have been about 8 in the early 90s. Loved eternal!
Oh and ace of bass

One of my all time favourites - brilliant album

Tubular Bells on vinyl. Amazed to see it’s fifty years old next year!

DarkDarkNight · 29/12/2022 20:37

Automatic for the People, REM on cassette. Yes, I was a fan for years. Went back to all their early albums when I was a bit older and followed new releases.

I found the album version of this recently clearing out MILs attic (it had been BIL's). How hideous is the cover! The clothes and make up! I hadn't noticed at the time when I owned it myself because, you know, 80s.

Was that the one with the hidden track?

East 17, Steam think it was out 1994 I would have been about 8/9 😂 I loved that album listened to it from start to finish a lot! I would still listen to it 😀

KickHimInTheCrotch · 29/12/2022 20:40

I got given Madonna "True Blue" and my brother got Michael Jackson's "Bad" for Xmas one year. We were both so happy! I don't have a record player any more so they're both in my loft along with lots of others (including my mum's Elvis records and my Dad's copy of "Pet Sounds"). Would definitely still turn the radio up if any of those songs came on 😊
