Love Kate's coat today, anyone know where it's from?

I think she looks very stylish.

I don't understand coat dresses? Do you just wear underwear underneath? What happens when you get indoors do you rush upstairs and throw on some real clothes?

I thought she looked amazing. Really liked Beatrice's coat too and think she looks very pretty these days. But then I spent yesterday in Disney pyjamas and odd socks so really not an expert.

I liked the hat, really disliked the coat.

Generally I think she dresses extremely well. Not sure why people expect her to be trendy at all- she’s not a celebrity. She needs to dress smartly and appropriately for her role, which she does. She promotes British designers and is quite savvy about rewearing things and wearing high street as well as designer (albeit presumably adjusted) which is a good PR move.

I think the children are well dressed too.

Also my teenage boy will not wear anything except shorts, even in snow 🙄

I thought she looked great. I liked both the hat and the coat, and both looked good on her. It’s her sort of “royal function” look and she carried it off well. Nor do I think she’s too thin. The children are dressed in their “royal function” look too. I’m sure they get dressed in something else when they get back.

I love the hat but my god, I’ve never known someone so good at making McQueen look like Karen Millen. So many times. And the boots are heinous.

@purpledalmation - she has another dress on underneath- but it’ll be too cold in that church normally to take the coat off, hence the coat dress. The dress underneath will have been her breakfast outfit and madly she’ll have been expected to change for lunch then change again for dinner. Remember there was a thing about when Fergie first went for Christmas Day she was expected to have 7 outfits just for Christmas Day (although that included the walk to church coat), apparently more scaled back now in royal family, but 3-4 outfits for one day expected. Only the coat dress thing will have been on public view.

I hate the coat dresses & all the fussy details eg buttons & labels but she has to wear things to certain standards I guess. I just wish she was allowed or interested in doing proper fashion.

Just laughing at the idea of me or anyone with even a modest bosom wearing that coat!
I would love to see Kate in person; in photos, her bodily proportions seem completely unfeasible for an adult female. Not just small breasts (many women have that) but tiny, tiny ribcage and back. I always think she looks like she's been photoshopped as she's so disproportionally slender for her height.

To the pp who are criticising, what are you wearing to church?

one of my dc wore shorts yesterday to mass, they don't do trousers & Ive given up fighting.

It’s pretty standard. I preferred the blue on camilla apart from the hat. Quite surprised to see William with his hands in his pockets!

I just don’t think she would. If you look at what her friends wear or what Pippa wears- people who can wear what they want and have the budget for anything- they’re all dressed fairly conservatively, much like Kate.

she's obviously athletic & naturally has a very slight & long torso. She is very very slim though, anyone who looks like that in photos will look tiny in real life. However the pressure must be enormous.

@PrimroseYello I don't really know her friends style, you are right that Pippa has the same dressing older thing.

I just find it a bit odd (hence why I assumed it was the role) that people actively want to dress so formally & quite a bit older. It's very at odds to how most 40 yr old women dress these days.

She doesn't have the hollowed out look Diana had - there was a certain period when Diana's arms and neck looked skeletal. Kate has never looked like that - she is slim but has a very athletic build and doesn't look 'scrawny' for want of a better word.

Why are people saying it’s a coat dress? It’s a coat. Yes, she will have normal clothes on underneath -because it’s a coat. You can see, in another time she wore it:

I loved Kate's outfit and thought the hat and coat style together really suited her. Wish I looked half as glam (but I'm in my fluffy dressing gown and old nightie having a nice quiet Boxing Day coffee with the Christmas Tree lights on all to myself).

I don’t think she does dress too old. She will have to dress formally for anything vaguely “royal function”. It’s her uniform, if you will. If anything, I think her look is too young/informal -by that, I mean her hair. Beautiful as it is, I think she spoils the look by having it loose and down.

Me too!! I'm 5ft 3 and a size 10-12 I've a big bust 32F but a small waist, and then large thighs in proportion to my bust.

I deliberately didn't stand next to her in the group photo, because I was concerned if look "bigger" my own self conscious problems not hers. 🤣

Kate clearly has an iron will and must exercise every single day ( having gyms , pools at your disposal etc makes it easier I guess )
On holiday this year at an all inclusive holiday an extremely slender woman was Walking around with one tiny prune on a big plate ! I can imagine Kate doesnt dive into the chocs at Christmas either !!
Wished I had the same will to be fitter / slender
