Thread 3 - TalkExiles: "The Planet Goes On Being Round"

Continuation of previous lifeboat threads 1 and 2.

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

That’s a very warm glow. Moving is very stressful and it’s great when the payoff is worth it and you feel happy and secure in your home.

SinnerBoy · 07/01/2023 18:46

Cool fanlight, Pike! Are you a minimalist, or just not unpacked yet?

Kucingsparkles · 07/01/2023 18:53

Goodness, I'm never getting a lodger!

Crows, I'm looking forward to photos of Casper 😺

I love your glass bricks pike we had some as a feature in our old house and I miss them.

I've vowed never to be a landlord. Friends who've done it have stories to tell.

Both, room is still empty cos it's going to get painted but the plan is not to clutter it up with my millions of things (books, comics, CDs, LPs etc)

SinnerBoy · 07/01/2023 19:20

Well, we want to see pics of your lurid new paint job!

Dotellhimpike · 07/01/2023 19:49

Next week!

mach2 · 07/01/2023 19:55

It'll be like something out of Clockwork Orange.

Gonners · 07/01/2023 19:56

I like those panels in YOUR HOUSE, Pike. Are they there to let more light into the hall/room on the other side?

Arf at the delicious Calibo sweeties, angelico.

"It'll be like something out of Clockwork Orange"

That gives me ideas!

"I like those panels in YOUR HOUSE, Pike. Are they there to let more light into the hall/room on the other side?"

No idea if they were put there as anything other than decoration but I like 'em.

Britinme · 07/01/2023 21:15

How lovely to finally have a house - and with glass bricks too! Congratulations Pike, and I'll second requests for photos when you've done your paintwork. I really like that aspect of Mumsnet - lovely to see other people and their pets and places.

duc748 · 07/01/2023 22:25

It looks great, Pike, a really exciting time for you. My last move was one of the best things I've ever done, and it's made me happier than I ever expected to be, back in the doldrums. If you've got your own pile of bricks that you're happy with, you're half way there! 😀

bignosebignose · 07/01/2023 22:31

Glad everyone’s on the mend, especially crows, whose lurgy sounded particularly nasty. Welcome home pike.

I’m posting very little at the moment partly because I’m reading so much here and don’t need to add much. It’s still catching me unawares to have multiple Threads of Bad People to read, I really can’t keep up. The school poster one is an absolute doozy, I’m about 15 pages in and planning to read every post. But I’m very much here reading all the posts on our little cabal’s threads.

Britinme · 07/01/2023 22:35

How many pages does this get to before we have to make a new thread? Do oversize ones just disappear or what? I am still getting the odd notification for thread 2.

bignosebignose · 07/01/2023 22:41

1,000 posts / 40 pages of 25 posts.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 07/01/2023 23:16

They don't disappear when they get full, you just can't post on them.

IReallyLikeCrows · 08/01/2023 03:03

@Dotellhimpike we share a love of glass bricks. I've seen them mocked when they went "out of fashion" and I pitied the fools. Have you decided on colours yet? I'm going to be doing some decorating in the spring (longer days and better light) and I'm really looking forward to it. Everything is currently a slightly grubby magnolia.

Casper is still in hiding but he did purr and come to my hand for some chin scritching earlier before edging back into the corner. I'm just glad that Francis is not pissed off about the new arrival.

As soon as he's out of hiding there will be photos.

MavisMcMinty · 08/01/2023 05:44

Hooray for all the new homes, new cats and glass bricks!

I woke up this morning with my head/face in a puddle of moonlight. Shame macman was still asleep, I bet I looked gorgeous.

mach2 · 08/01/2023 06:23

Viddy well, little brother ;-)

A swift elbow in the ribs normally does the trick.

Dotellhimpike · 08/01/2023 10:15

@IReallyLikeCrows Yes, I am going with this shade of blue called vence.

That would look lovely with some pictures on the wall and bright furnishings, pike.

My taste in colours is not fashionable. I like lots of colours, all at once.

Dotellhimpike · 08/01/2023 10:56

That's exactly the idea @Tricyrtis2022 Dark walls but lots of nice pictures and strategially placed lights.

Tricyrtis2022 · 08/01/2023 11:11

More pics when you've settled in, please!
