Continuation of previous lifeboat threads 1 and 2.

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

I don’t get the pleasantly stoned side-effect any more, of course. Just the digestive ones.

Very disappointed with a couple of friends. And I will never again assume either good faith or even basic levels of critical thinking on the part of some other posters there.

What happened?

Turns out certain topics aren't banned after all, only people who discussed it from a particular viewpoint. Funny how many permutations of "no debate" there turn out to be in the end.

I don't think anyone is all that surprised. One view was to be driven off the board. They never said the other view was verboten.

What interested me was the way they were so up their owns earss wrt the pet topic that they seem to have missed the big family loyalty scandal that did get blown up in Mordaunt's face (wiping her out for the foreseeable). I didn't read anything on Twitter about her view on their hobbyhorse. I did read stuff about that.

I know nothing of cycle nuts cos that's the sort of thread I generally poled. But dipping in at random this morning, I offer you this gem on Polly Toynbee, from Shadrack:

"She has long been a hate figure for reactionary (usually male) teeds."

The no, not that feminism feminism thread is still limping along, I note.

I will never tell women they are or aren't doing feminism correctly, not my place. I do however note with wry amusement that someone made a comment on that thread four hours ago and has yet to get a response.

I’m in baking mode again, de-stressing after another day on my assignment by making an apple tarte tatin. Didn’t come out as well as it has done in the past and had to grill it for a couple of mins after I flipped it, can’t remember how I did it before! Still very tasty though, can’t really go too wrong with butter, sugar, apples and pastry.

Are you all enjoying yourselves? I've had a small Prosecco, about to have a beer. Booze and Tramadol aren't the best mix, although I had the pill 7 hours ago.

I’m mostly ignoring it as pain has messed up my stomach a bit, and two of my friends have C*vid. I might celebrate tomorrow with my first G&T of the year.

I picked up a new toy for Kasper last night and it’s taken over his life. He wouldn’t even come for his dinner, unheard of.

I made beef rendang from scratch. It was amazing.

Now drinking red wine and watching TV.

I spent most of the day in A&E after having some chest pains this morning. All fine, (seems to be a muscle tweak which I’ve done before and was pretty sure was all this was too) and got home an hour ago but I happened to be sat for about six hours right beside the reception desk admiring the work of the triage nurse and her colleague who was dealing with initial checks on blood pressure, etc. A constant stream of incoming patients, a constant battle to find somewhere to put them, all handled calmly and with good humour. I caught them a couple of times giving each other “WTF” glances and late this afternoon one of them said to me “you’ve got the best seat in the house” just as I was about to say the same thing to them.

Now on a nice cloudy cider and forcing myself to stay up till midnight. Suddenly feeling a bit emotionally drained after that day, I’d go to bed now if it wasn’t NYE. Happy New Year to all you fine people.
