It's quite something when you can't tell which liar is lying

Both are.

There are 500,000 teachers ...

Who are, of course, collectively to blame for the DM’s innumeracy.

Well if you donate a milliion pounds to a political party you would expect a good return on your investment, so why wouldn't he want to be able to evade tax in return?

At least he knows what a woman is.

Currently watching GMB and Matt Hancock is on.

He actually (annoyingly!) interviews quite well - especially when Susanna Reid doesn't give him a change to start answering a question let alone finishing one.

I do wish at times interviewers wouldn't allow their very obvious dislike of certain politicians to dictate their interview process. I usually think she's very good - she could completely hold him to account with decent professional questioning and accountability and not doing what they do and just over talking people with 3 word sound bites.

Sunak’s anti-strike bill has PASSED its Parliament stages & will now progress to the House of Lords

AYES 315
NOES 246

Here is JRM saying " I will support this bill.... but the means of achieving its aim is not properly constitutional.."

I believe and always have, that the Govt will not offer any more than around 1/2 the current inflation figure to any public sector worker... ever and should inflation fall, they can shout "look we are giving inflation matching pay rises"

The mandates for strike action run out in the next few months, strikers cannot afford the loss of pay, unions can't keep offering strike support payments and once this law is passed, then strikes become less effective... less support from workers and public for strikes, so new strike ballots fail...

Any failings in education health etc can be blamed on the strike action.

If or when Labour win, they won't reverse the law either, regardless of what they say now, just like Labour never reversed any of Thatchers anti union laws.

Oh yes the Jimmy savile Modus operandi, in return for my charity work I get to abuse children, interestingly I understand that that nadhim zahawi was as litigious as Jimmy savile, these traits appear to crop up together.

As far as I understand things Saville also knew what a woman is.

I expect Jacob Rees-Smug will be along shortly to tell us all how if only we were as clever as him we would have bet on Brexit and made money, moved our business to Ireland and then bet on the UK economy tanking.

If only we were as clever as him.

Goodness only knows how the government thinks it can impose minimum levels of service on essential public sectors while they're so short -staffed. It's almost laughable.

Not really, the Govt will impose such service levels that only people who are on annual leave will be able to strike/picket.

They are changing the law to make sure that no union can effectively go on strike... its a return to the 1800s and pre Union representation.

The question is, will workers capitulate or walk out regardless & risk dismissal?

When i was last in a union recognised work place, i saw that for every action the workforce took (we never went on strike) the management would put in measures to remove the workers ability to take action or even to effectively complain....even new T&C's were imposed or be dismissed... it was seemingly quite clever but in the long run, the management destroyed the business, few companies/organisations can survive longer term without staff support.

mibbelucieachwell · 01/02/2023 08:19

As I understand it part of the reason for striking is that staffing levels are so low - unions have been asking for safe levels of staffing for a long while. The government is now using low levels of staff to justify stripping employment rights. Gaslighting at its finest - demanding that workers don't strike in order to maintain an essential service while reducing staff levels to the extent that their minimum level is barely reached at the best of times.

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/02/2023 08:38

Support here as well. Dd has been told acool is open for year 13s, I've suggested she beep as she drives past the strikers. Ideally she would stay home saying she won't cross the picket line, but as a fairly quiet young adult she doesn't want to make a fuss and as she is 18, she has to make her own choices.
