There is plenty to criticise without mocking speech impediments.
The current stalemate seems to be that Barclay needs to show that he has won something before he can persuade the Treasury to provide more money. But what does increased productivity look like for a demoralised understaffed workforce functioning in crisis mode? There are so many areas which have been left under resourced - social care, maintenance and infrastructure, short staffing etc - which have a direct impact on NHS productivity. In addition it overlooks the ongoing impact of infection restrictions and the health of people currently now using the NHS having been persuaded to stay away during Covid.
Even the supposedly good news isn't all that - the £250 million purchase of extra beds (from where???) announced yesterday is coming from exisiting budgets so somebody somewhere is getting their existing budgets slashed.
We dont have enough staff. We are losing staff. We need those jobs filled. The answer is to make it more attractive to stay and recruit.
