Continuation of previous thread.

Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

macman wastes loads of time cleaning the glass door of our log-burner but honestly, get the fire hot enough and all the crud burns off, leaving the glass lovely and clear. He just won’t be told though.

Kucingsparkles · 08/12/2022 16:53

Nice stove, Sinner, if the glass is blackening, is it due to the burn being not hot enough? We never clean our glass, but what I've noticed is that when we first get the woodburner going, initially there's briefly a black deposit all over the inside (including the glass) which disappears when it gets up to temperature. Maybe there's something about our stove design?

Or, what Mavis said.

Oh bugger!

VicSynix · 08/12/2022 19:29

Wot Mavis said.

We bought a thermometer which sits on the top of the woodburner so we can make sure the temperature's right in the zone - haven't had a problem with marks on the glass since then.

Which is lucky because I'm waaay too lazy to clean the glass.

Damn, posted too quick on the last thread, before the photo had uploaded. This is the puppy I kept:

Which was in response to being asked if this was the puppy I kept:

It was a spectacular way to end a thread, left hanging in puppy suspense. Very pretty, love the blacker than black ears.

MavisMcMinty · 08/12/2022 19:50

This is him and her together, but her eye is so red in this photo it’s not one I usually share. (TBF, she’d just had 7 babies, your eyes would be red too.)

Well quite: aren't female bodies, and females, wonderful?

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 08/12/2022 19:59

females are wonderful.

But my male chimney sweep gave me good advice recently re: stove windows, which was to close down the bottom vent completely but to leave the top very slightly open to permit 'flamewashing' of the glass. It seems to work.

Pet photos! This is Louise Brooks who has had to go and live elsewhere because she became very unhappy and showed her unhappiness by shitting all around the flat including on my bed when I was in it. Nothing physically wrong with her, she just hated Francis. I thought about rehoming him but worried that I'd do that and she'd still keep on with the shitting. She's now found a lovely home where she is very happy and doesn't shit everywhere. She is so photogenic!

This is my ginger stepson. I keep dreaming that his owner will say "Oh go on, take him with you!" but she won't and I'm going to miss him so much. He looks just like my Georgie as well.

This is Francis.

And so is this. He has a heart-shaped nose. He looks a bit mean here but he's the softest beasty boy.

Oh one more! This is my nephew, Seamus, proving that greyhounds are just not right.

They are all adorable, but Francis is particularly gorgeous.

Seamus’s nose is crying out for a boop.

Dotellhimpike · 08/12/2022 20:49

This is Chester. The important thing to know about Chester is that Chester is NOT my cat. He is the brother of my younger cat Archie, him and Archie used to live together until Archie moved in to my house, Chester's mum begged me not to nick Chester as well, I assured her I had no intention of nicking any of her cats but Archie moved in of his own accord. Chester still likes to visit his brother every so often.

Oh my god, Chester’s face. I’m in love.

Louise knocks Helen of Troy into a cocked hat!

bignosebignose · 08/12/2022 23:12

This thread prompted me earlier today to chase up the possible installation of a stove only to be told that they might come and give us a quote at the end of January and install it at the end of February, if we ask very nicely. We appear to be a bit late in acting on something we talked about in the summer. So I suppose the moral of the story is that there are worse things than forgetting about your chimney sweep, or something.

duc748 · 09/12/2022 00:41

Of course there are, bnbn, and there's plenty here to remind us of that. But I thought this was a thread for light-hearted chat.

IReallyLikeCrows · 09/12/2022 02:58

Chester's face is so gentle!

@CyanCyan , I regularly boop his nose. He's not always happy with it.

Dotellhimpike · 09/12/2022 08:31

"Chester's face is so gentle!"

He is a total con artist, like I say, not my cat but he is well known in the village, people on the village Facebook group have mentioned he hangs around outside the CO-OP then begs from anyone who has cooked ham in their shopping.

Tricyrtis2022 · 09/12/2022 08:35

Morning. Cold, isn't it.
