School boy won't let people sit down

Hospital2022 · 05/12/2022 17:49

Every day after school we see the same boy on the bus. He sits on a double seat and refuses to let people sit next to him he puts his leg there so no one can sit there. Several times people have wanted to sit. He won't move for anyone. Such as small children who can't balance . Elderly people. Adults have told him of on several occasions telling him to let the old lady sit down . Today he sat on the back seats. The ones where there are 5/6 seats all next to each other. He had his bag on one seat. He was sitting on the one next to it, then had his leg on the other so was taking up 3 seats . An old man asked him to move over so he can sit down . The boy refused to move several times the man asked and the boy kept refusing. The man then said im 74 years old and you won't even let me sit down you have no manners. He was a frail man. He was able to get a seat in the end. But this has been going on for a few weeks now and the boy is doing it everyday. I know what school he has to but I don't know his name or anything like that. So I can't complain to the school bas thete are over 1000 pupils in the school.

We are talking a London bus at school going home time so it's very busy.

It sounds petty when I write it but he is causing upset abd stress towards passengers.

Any suggestions ?

I'd take a picture of him and take it to the school

I work in a London secondary school and deal with complaints. We welcome photos as it makes our job easier so that we can identify the child, sanction them and call their parents in.

It is not against the law to take photos of anyone in a public space.

Thank you . I will try and take a photo

Get the driver to put him off the bus.

Round here (also London), if you piss off the driver, they stop the bus and refuse to move until you get off. They did that the other day when an older teen pushed two much younger children out of the way.

Personally, I'd also move any bags off seats and, if it was a leg, I'd pretend not to notice it and get my 4yo to sit on the seat, leg or no leg.

But definitely alert the driver. Some may do nothing but others will sort it out.

Do not take a photo of him.

If someone wants to sit down and he says no it’s really important that people support the person so they don’t feel so alone.

I would absolutely contact the school and say the bus number and a description of him and his bag and anything else identifying like shoes if they are a certain brand.

He may have a problem with his personal space and be unable to tolerate anyone else next to him

He was fine a month or 2 ago its been the last 3 weeks he's been doing it

whoareyouinviting · 05/12/2022 18:49

I love all the people making excuses for this kid. He's got attitude and needs to move his arse so people can sit. I've seen it plenty of times before on London buses.

UrsulaPandress · 05/12/2022 18:49

@Irealisenow

Seriously?

Eh? Why wouldn't you take a photo?

Much easier than trying to describe one a of a few hundred boys in the school Confused

DunkingMyDonuts · 05/12/2022 18:49

When he says "you cant take a photo of me, it is against the law" ask him to google it as he is wrong.

You can, he will no doubt then take one of you. Both of you have the right.

But then he has a choice, stay there and a photo is taken, move his bag and no photo. His decision!

In which case London public transport during busy times is not a suitable option for him.

Bewitched005 · 05/12/2022 18:37

Or he might just be a little shit.

Even if he has a problem with his personal space it does not give him the right to take up 5 seats on a bus whilst others are standing. If he can't manage with others on a bus he needs to find an alternative way to get to/from school.

An extremely quick Google would solve the photo thing for you.

Take pic, tell driver, send pic to school.

Job done.

Yes I'm going to try and take a picture. And email the school

Bet he’s raised by those “little emperor” type parents who treat their offspring like the second coming

ShrimpIsTheFruitOfTheOcean · 05/12/2022 18:51

Follow this guys lead 🤣

Greyskyblue · 05/12/2022 18:52

Tell the driver. If he won’t do anything make a note of the time and bus number and complain to the bus company. I agree with taking a photo. Also the police if he threatens anyone.

Blimey, looks like Elton John and Ed Sheeran's love child got there just in time 🤔😂

theydontspeakforus · 05/12/2022 18:54

For christs sake - take the photo. Send to the school. They will sort it.

2bazookas · 05/12/2022 18:55

Take his picture and complain to the school with details of the bus .

BeanieTeen · 05/12/2022 18:56

Tricky. You could collude with some of the other passengers and take turns ‘accidentally’ spilling your take away coffee on his offending bag day by day. Maybe a Frappuccino or green smooths to spill on him too.

PeppermintChoc · 05/12/2022 18:57

There was a lady on my commute who refused to move her bag off a seat on a busy train so I shrugged and sat on her bag. I think it was a UTI but I remember feeling so poorly and just desperately needing to sit down.

OrangePomander · 05/12/2022 18:57

Send him up North, he’d be off the bus head-first within about 30 seconds!

I thought UTI was some sort of designer bag until I read that again 😊

And on most London buses too.

Which is why this is so confusing. At the very least most drivers just refuse to move the bus until someone else ejects the culprit or the transport police arrive.

pimlicoanna · 05/12/2022 19:00

I would absolutely take a photo and piss ily film too. But I'm also one of the ones that would just sit on his leg
