How long were you and DH together before engagement and then marriage

Feeling sorry for myself and want to see how our situation measure up to others.

Engaged 2 weeks, married 4 months, celebrated 25 years in August. 🙂

Got engaged after 6 months together.

Engaged within a year and married within 18m but my best friend wasn't engaged until 9 years and married at 10. Every relationship is different. They also didn't move in for two years whereas we moved in within six months. But if you aren't happy you aren't happy. Have you had a conversation with your partner about this?

Met when I was about 25 and he was 29, got engaged 3 years later, just after we'd moved in together. 18 month engagement as he wanted summer wedding (I wasn't bothered what season!) and we didn't have the time to arrange a summer wedding for the year we got engaged.

It varies a lot. I know a few people who married in late 30s/early 40s who met and got engaged within 18 months and I think once you're older, fairly well into careers etc, you know your own mind and it can make sense to just get on with it, especially if you want kids.

Never got engaged as such. (I’d have quite liked a ring but dh thought ‘getting engaged’ was squirmingly naff.).
Together (a bit on and off because of distance) for 7 years before getting hitched. Now married for a very very long time.

4 years. We married 5 weeks after we decided to go for it.

6 years to marriage and I think we were engaged just over a year so 5ish to engagement

21 days till we got engaged
4 years till married
10 years married
9 years divorced

Engaged after 2 years and then another 3 years before we got married.

We never had plans, but we've recently decided that on our 15 yr anniversary we're tying the knot. No one knows, just a tiny registry event, then we're going to recreate what we can of our momentous 1st date. 15 yrs!

2 yrs to engagement, married 1 year later.
Love that we had fun and went for it, almost 20yrs married now.

I guess we qualified as a whirlwind romance . Engaged after three months , married nine months after meeting . Married for thirty years .

Met my husband in the refectory queue at university when I was 19. Engaged a year later and married two years after that. Happily married 20 years.

Engaged after 3 weeks, married 5 months later. Still together 32 years later

3 months dating.

3 months engaged.

38 years married. (And counting)

18 months and 2 years.

16 years and counting. We were about 3 years in before I realised that we would never be married. Make sure you've had an honest conversation about whether it will happen or he is just nodding along.

Once we had that discussion, I decided I would rather be with him unmarried (but ensured I was protected financially) than married to a second choice.

4 months to get engaged, 3 years to get married

4 years when we got married. Neither is us saw the point in an engagement. We decided to get married and were married three months later. Small wedding, so didn’t need a big planning period,

Engaged 6 months after meeting, 4 months after first date and married a 18 months or so after engagement. We have been married over 20 years

Three months. But only so it didn't look too fast. lol

Lived together after 2 years together, engaged after 3, married after 4, first DC born after 5.

Together for 11 years before we got engaged, married a year later and 2 kids in the next 3 years 😄

Married at 24

So engaged after 5 years and married after 6.

2 years before proposal, married 18 months later.
