How long were you and DH together before engagement and then marriage

Feeling sorry for myself and want to see how our situation measure up to others.

Together almost 2 years when we got engaged, married 1 year later exactly. Been together almost 8 years

Together 4years before we got engaged and got married 5 months later. Still together 22 years later..

I was 19 when we got together.

Together 6 years. Never got engaged. Married at 20. Were married 35 years.

2013 met (age 19 and 20)
2018 engaged
2019 married
2020 DS1
2023 DS2 due

We were 2 years together when we got engaged and 4 years together when we got married. Engagement was so long because of covid and then having a baby.

Three months from meeting to marriage.
Over forty years later, I still can't get rid of him.

Met in early 2001, moved in together after 3 weeks. Engaged August 2001, married Spring 2002. Would of been married sooner but I was in the forces and it wasn’t possible. Kids came along 12 years after marriage. Married 20 years. He was just divorced and everyone said I was his rebound. Lots of ups and a few downs but happy and together.

6.5 years, then engaged. We were engaged for a year before married. We were 22/24 when we met and have been married 9 years.

17 years together and 2 kids before we got engaged. Got married just under a year later.

Now married 6 years, together 23.

Didn't actually get engaged, but together 13 years when we got married x

Bought a house within a year of meeting, engaged within 2 years of meeting then married 18 months later. We were 27 and 28 when we got married.

2 years together before we got engaged and married.

He proposed the week before our second anniversary and we married 5 months later (not a big wedding)

Got engaged after 3 years as a couple, knew each other as friends over a year before getting together. Married 18months after getting engaged -so 4.5 years. We'd bought a house together a year before getting married. First child 18 months after wedding.

I know people who've taken longer and others who've been quicker to get engaged/married. I would say we are average within friendship group.

Together 20yrs now, married for 10

Got engaged after 5 years, married 16 months later.

Got engaged on the first anniversary of meeting. Married 18 months later.

Engaged at 1 year, married at 2.

But as a pp said - everyone has their own timescale so it's meaningless.

It's upsetting when you are not both on the same page. If you have different wants, you probably need to sit and discuss it before moving forward. All the best op

9 years, we had a quite short engagement, I didn't want to wait any longer! We were young when we got together I was 17 he was 18 but it did feel like a long wait!

Engaged at 1.5 years. Married at 2y3m. From having met.

We met in 6th form then went to the same city for uni but lived apart and we moved back to our home town after and lived at our parents houses separately until we'd saved enough for a deposit. So lived together in the flat we bought from about 23ish. Engaged when I was 26, married at 27, first son at 28, second at 31 and we've been together nearly 21 years.

Been together 11 years, engaged for 10. It's an issue for me but at the moment we just can't afford it

Engaged after 5, married after 10. We did get together at 18 though so we probably waited longer than most.

We never sort of got engaged.. we met, we both fell in love with each other at the same time and got married 7 months later 🤓 now married for 5 years!

Started going out with him when I was 20, engaged three years later and married a year later. I'm now 31, and we are still very happily together, and bought our first house five months ago.

Well when you know you know ..

Together 18, engaged 20, married 21 (child bride 🤣 hubby same age though).

Early 30s now.
