How long were you and DH together before engagement and then marriage

Feeling sorry for myself and want to see how our situation measure up to others.

12 yrs. never engaged

Met August 1977, engaged July 1978 and married June 1979.

Things were very different in those days though.😄

Met August 1988

Moved in together 1990

Engaged 1991

Married 1992

Still married.

Five years together when we got engaged, but I was only twenty and at uni when we met. Our wedding was 17 months after our engagement; both of us saw the engagement as something we intended to move forward to marriage quickly.

lived together after 1.5. Engaged at 5. Married around 6.5 years in.
I was 40ish, him early 30s and it was our first marriage each. No kids by prior agreement. Several cats :-) 10 yrs ish married now.

Together almost two years before engagement. Married 4 months later, but I was pregnant so that condensed timescales somewhat.

We got engaged after 6 months, then married 8 months later. But I was early 30s and DH mid-30s at the time so we didn’t see the point in waiting when we knew we wanted to be together.

Met Dec at work /asked out me out in feb /he moved in in May /he proposed following March so one year ish after first date /married the following year as everywhere booked up or would have done it quicker

Engaged after 8 weeks. Got wed 12 weeks after that. Married 11 years.

Engaged after 10 months, married exactly a year later

Dating for 3 months, thought it was a whirlwind romance. He proposed, and we got married a year later.

Such a mistake.

Engaged after 3 weeks then married a year after that, been married 27 years.

Oh to add he moved in with me the week before we got engaged ( I asked him out )

Never got officially engaged as don't see the point; married after 5.5 years of living together. I guess we were 'engaged' once we'd decided to get married but it was very organic rather than formal.

10 years together before engagement and then married 2 years later but that was covids fault otherwise we were suppose to marry 6 months after being engaged

3 years together and then engaged, married 1 year after.

Engaged after 2 years, married 6 months later. DS born 10 months later. We were in our 30s/40s by then though and needed IVF as same sex couple.

Plus it was more straightforward for DW to obtain parental responsibility for DS if we were civil partnered. So we needed to crack on! Been together 15 years.

This is going to be me and DP at the rate we are going! Do either of you want to get married?

Together at 17/22, engaged at 22/27, married at 24/28 and first kid 28/33, second 32/37.

8yrs before engagement, one week after married, 1yr after baby!

4 years, got married about 18 months later. We'd already bought a house together and by the time we were married dc1 was 10 months old

Married three years after meeting. No engagement as we eloped

Engaged after 9 years, married just over a year later..but everyone is different no right or wrong. If you are not happy with where you are in your relationship then talk to your partner about it

Together 11 years. Then decided and got hitched within 3 weeks as I was pregnant. Not really an engagement. Now married for 17 years.

Engaged after university, etc in Christmas 1996
Married in summer 1998.
