Im numb. I went to the haemotolgist with a lump in my groin 5cm. He really thought it was lymphoma and was direct that it would be cancer. The biopsy was sent off a week ago. And hes just rang its mestatic. Its like a dream. I feel fine. Thats it for me isnt it? Im only 55 where could it be from?

Good Luck tomorrow @EachandEveryone 😘

EachandEveryone · 03/01/2023 17:56

I’m just so impatient now to get going. I have an appointment with skin oncology the day after and I’m guessing I will get all the way there and they will say they need me to see the skin people first. Thank you for thinking of me

Well its been emotional. My oncologist has now handed me over to the skin/plastics team who i will see tomorrow. He said we now have to treat it like it has come through the skin as it is nowhere else in my body. They will examine me tomorrow and come up with a plan. He expects it to be platinum based chemotherapy and immunotherapy for three months. He is optimistic it will respond well. Lets hope so.

i have no idea about these treatments or how to prepare.

he said I can go to Glastonbury 😍😍😍😍🙏🙏

Oh love, such a shit sandwich but really does sound like there's a strong chance of good outcome. I feel optimistic for you. How do you feel overall?

adriftabroad · 04/01/2023 20:22

I have goosebumps! So happy for you. It is nowhere else in your body! Did you ask about the previous posters suggestion of it having been in the womb?

Great for Glastonbury and thanks for updating.
Big drink deserved and good luck again tomorrow. They are certainly on the case👏

OldFan · 04/01/2023 20:27

Very promising. Praying for a speedy recovery for you @EachandEveryone . It can take a while to recover from the side effects of chemo etc but you will get there. Please keep us updated xx

EachandEveryone · 04/01/2023 20:37

He said five years ago is too long it wouldve been a secondary by now. Im just ready that hpv can come through the skin via cuts. Although there are no signs of hpv anywhere in my body they are treating it as if thats what it is.

Thats what I gathered anyway.

Sounds positive op. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. X

anyolddinosaur · 04/01/2023 22:56

Nothing useful to say - I'm following your story and you're still here so that's good. They think they can treat you - that's better. Hoping you'll get better news tomorrow.

Riverr · 05/01/2023 16:06

I had breast cancer 10 years ago, just wanted to say that treatment has come on so much in that time. My cousin works in manhattan memorial sloan kettering cancer center he researches a certain type of bc. He told me things have improved greatly. Chemo is doable. Go to Glastonbury have fun. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. Live for today xxxxxx

I’ve had a shit day. No plan as yet. I was so sure it would be today but this doctor reluctant to start treating as he has no proof it’s skin. I’m gutted.

So what did he/she suggest happens next? Someone has to make a decision at some point

EachandEveryone · 05/01/2023 17:21

I know I think I will end of being sent back to the original dr who specialises in COUP who discharged me yesterday because he said the dr today is able to start me on three months of chemo as they have narrowed it down as much as they can and ssc tumours respond very well and he assumes anything primary will get caught up
the chemo. Todays doc gets better results with immunotherapy for his specialty so he would do that before chemo but he won’t without a confirmed cancer as there’s not been enough research. I’m imaging down to money. It’s my life here. I’m tempted to email the one who handed me over yesterday.

Sending lots of positive thoughts

Beach11 · 05/01/2023 17:59

@EachandEveryone so frustrating. Definitely contact the Dr that passed you over yesterday. They can’t just leave you in limbo. Send big hugs

adriftabroad · 05/01/2023 18:18

Crikey, definitely email first doctor.

NoBody can find a primary. Surely that must be the error here...there isnt one? They have really looked, after all.

So sorry. Frustrating is an understatement.

anyolddinosaur · 06/01/2023 17:00

Yes do email the other doctor.

EachandEveryone · 06/01/2023 19:25

they are going to start chemo anyway. Back to the original plan. I’m hoping if they blast it the primary will get blasted as well.

Beach11 · 06/01/2023 19:50

Pleased to hear your treatment is going to start. X

Weenurse · 06/01/2023 21:39

Good luck with your treatment 💐

Think of it more as him being conscientious @EachandEveryone . If he were to have started a treatment which wasn't a treatment you needed and it slowed down you having what you actually need to have done, that would've been wrong of him and not had as good an outcome for you. xx

adriftabroad · 06/01/2023 22:27

Pleased you are starting treatment x

EachandEveryone · 07/01/2023 14:03

Yes im having a big clear out now. I am of the frame of mind that I will be doing this on my own. Which is fine. I just need a plan.
