Elon Musk is a horrible human

He just makes me cringe. He buys twitter after changing his mind backwards and forwards, promptly sacks half the staff, and then tells the rest they have to be in the office for at least 40 hours a week, despite them having been told previously they could wfh forever if they want.
He's a psychopath, right?

He is freely giving satellite communications support to Ukraine at a cost of 100's of millions of pound.

Look up the Musk Foundation.

He does more than most billionaires.

Sorry to burst your Tesla shaped bubble but he isn’t even in the top 25. He is known as one of the tightest billionaires.

He has many faults, ordering his workforce into work isn't one of them 🙄

sagalooshoe · 10/11/2022 20:22

People seems very upset that a very rich man isn't giving half his money to oxfam but instead he's investing it in space exploration and electric cars.

Blimey you're a bunch of joyless critters.

He's a rich man doing exciting things.
He's not trading arms, people trafficking or leading an international drugs cartel. I suggest people get a little perspective. Just because he's got a silly dance, sacked a few IT weebs and has put his foot in it a few times doesn't make him public enemy number one.

Im laughing at the idea that he will 'clean up' twitter, he has no investment in making twitter some sort of ethical and moral platform!!!

Runningintolife · 10/11/2022 20:27

Killing Twitter could save our democracies I suppose. We might thank him in future.

You’ve changed your tune, a minute ago he was saving the world and now we are killjoys because it’s been suggested he uses his ridiculous piles of money to help people rather than just play with toys 🙄

sagalooshoe · 10/11/2022 20:35

I never said he was a 'saviour'. I never said he was 'saving the world'. These are all words from your own posts.

I merely like what he does, I find his vision exciting, I don't think electric cars and exploring space is hurting anyone. Electric cars are probably going to massively help with the world's carbon neutral goal though - no-one can dispute that. He's helping Ukraine in a non-military way, he's inspiring young scientists. He's ok in my book.

I think the sayings goes ...

"It's a private company, it can do what it likes."

I dont think anyone is upset? I just don't think he is a good person, that's all. I don't think his toys are exciting that doesn't do it for. I take joy in lots of things but rich men spending their money on toys just isn't one of them.

I don't know why you are trying to the play down the good he could do by donating billions of dollars as 'giving money to oxfam' either.

You're a fangirl, that's obvious but surely you can see why rich men hoarding money isn't exciting to most people?

Elon Musk didn’t start PayPal, he started a company who merged with PayPal. He also didn’t start Tesla, he bought it. He isn’t some eccentric genius inventor. He is an aggressive businessmen.

This

Not the OP. but

Is ironic, when you downplay his investment as

rich men spending their money on toys

sagalooshoe · 10/11/2022 20:58

The governments of this world make more than enough money out of all us workers to ensure charity wouldn't be needed. However, we let them spend it on arms and business backhanders all the time right in front of our eyes then expect people like Elon Musk to stump up his cash? That's just a sticking plaster. We all know who we should really be aiming our annoyance at.

His own children have disowned. Him.

His daughter recently announced she was changing her name because she refuses to be associated with him.

As for twitter, he has sacked the entire accessibility team, so has made it very clear what he thinks of people with disabilities. Ironic really given we are supposed to justify everything he does by saying he’s autistic.

Exactly. Says a lot about his character imo. People will still simp and fangirl over him though 🤢

Yeah because commercial flights to space is exactly what the world is crying out for right now.

NukaColaQuantum · 10/11/2022 21:33

He’s fucking grim for a multitude of reasons and those saying it’s because he’s Autistic, can, frankly, fuck right off. You can be both a massive twat and Autistic. He isn’t like this because he’s Autistic.

WisteriaLodge · 10/11/2022 21:36

I don’t think she thought he was a psychopath 🤷‍♀️ Psychopaths can be very charming, they're not all axe wielding nutters, they can actually be difficult to spot and many walk amongst us (Disclaimer: I'm not saying EM is a psychopath, just giving perspective)

sagalooshoe · 10/11/2022 21:38

You're a fangirl

How sexist and condescending.

I'm a scientist actually.

Why is that if governments spend our money on space exploration we are all like 'oooo ahhhh' but if a private investor in science does it he's a selfish twat?

You're all very strange.

Silvercurtains · 10/11/2022 21:39

I think he’s a sociopath. As he’s someone who’s had little/nothing to do with the daily care of raising his children, I really don’t think he could care less about the parents who can work efficiently from home where it greatly benefits their families and in turn benefits the company. E.g. I don’t need to take time off work if my kids are sick because I can work just as well from home.

StarLink, which allows people in remote communities, and those not connected to land-based internet provision To yet online is, though.

I agree that he seems to be a bit of an arsehole, but I think those on here who have the biggest issue with him are more upset that he’s so rich. There are millions of poor people who are arsenides too who don’t get up lefties noses in the same way.

Given how important it is to get up lefties noses, you have to put this down as a plus point.

Melonapplepear · 10/11/2022 21:48

Lefties noses 🤣 the poor people who are twats aren't generally in the public eye, since they are unknown. What a silly, disingenuous comparison. If you see nothing wrong a social structure which allows elites to hoard wealth, cool but to simply say it's coz he rich, whilst ignoring the myriad of inequality such a system creates is, once again, silly and disingenuous.

@TimeForMeToF1y - I completely disagree. That's a bit of an OTT conclusion to get from that. I doubt that the friend mentioned was aware that she'd be getting a Tesla when she left the company. I would view that as an unexpected bonus since the whole project was a success. Either way, at the end of the day, if a person is deciding between two jobs and needs the money to live they're going to go with the one that pays the best or offers the best perks. I don't think that makes a person shallow or easily bought Confused

I read your comment to mean rhat she didn't think he was a psyxopath because she was been given a car like she was willing to overlook his bad qualities due to the var

On rereading I see that you were stating two unrelated facts
