I bought an Amazon Alexa and I can honestly say it's saved me. My life is so much less chaotic! I have ADHD and I can..

Add things to my shopping list just by shouting them out! So I don't have to remember to write anything down, or forget what it was that I was going to write, I just say it there and then

I can ask my Alexa to play brown noise to help me sleep

I can say 'Alexa, start my day' - and she will tell me a random fact, tell me the time and the weather outside, and then put on my favourite radio station

I love her! Not an advert as I don't particularly like Amazon - never really 'same day delivery' and they put their prime costs up

I also use my omelette maker a lot. I suffer from executive functioning issues, big part of my ADHD. This means I get a half decent bit of food that's easy to make

Chanel lipstick. I splurged on it. It stays on, looks good and makes me feel fancy, even though it’s a fairly neutral colour. Sounds daft as a thirty something with a husband and a child but it makes me feel like a grown up!

Coffee machine. Stops me spending £3.70 on a flat white every time I go to work - I make it in my own kitchen and take it in a thermal mug. And makes really nice strong coffee. Love it and within 20 coffees I’ve made back the cost!

canyouseetjree · 03/11/2022 16:01

@RandomCatGenerator ooo I would like a nice lipstick but don't want anything too matte! Would you suggest it for that?

Afonavon · 03/11/2022 16:03

Soda stream. Keeps me drinking the required amount of water daily

RandomCatGenerator · 03/11/2022 16:03

Ah it is matte I’m afraid - rouge velvet matte, Abstrait.

butterfliedtwo · 03/11/2022 16:05

Huge Heattech blanket from Uniqlo. So nice.

Oh I'll have a look at that, was thinking about treating myself

BankseyVest · 03/11/2022 16:06

My log burner. I know it's controversial but I adore it, it makes the house feel warm and cosy, it's also saved me a small fortune in heating bills

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/11/2022 16:20

Mac Air laptop
Just got a second hand iPhone 12 and it’s great
Benefit red lipstick and Dandelion
Orange fake le Creuset from Sainsbury’s
Seasalt boots
Jigsaw lace camisoles
Aveda hand cream
New Balance trainers

All pretty much unbeatable imo

mamacattiva · 03/11/2022 16:24

Vegetable chopper - it’s reignited my love for cooking! No more slicing the ends of my fingers off or faffing with the garlic crusher.

mamacattiva · 03/11/2022 16:25

Oh and my MacBook Pro, it’s amazing and I will never buy a laptop again

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 03/11/2022 16:28

An Oodie, an official one. So warm and no need to put the gas on yet.

An Apple Watch was bought for me as it's allowed me to keep track of steps, heart rate, tracking food and drink and sleep. Generally helping me in getting better.

Bideshi · 03/11/2022 16:28

Sodastream.
Oxo Good Grips microplane.
Dr Hauschka hair oil, a real game changer for frizz and dry hair.
Macbook Air.

MintJulia · 03/11/2022 16:30

My slow cooker. I wfh, often put supper in the slow-cooker at lunchtime and it's done by six, giving me my evening back. 😊

Sat-nav

My heated windscreen - no more scraping frost.

My log burner, keeps us toasty, is saving me money, doesn't upset the neighbours and means I don't need a shredder.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/11/2022 16:33

Not that I use it all the time, but my Good Grips citrus zester.

Makes even dh’s annual mega lemon meringue pie (3 large lemons to zest) a relative doddle. I used to absolutely hate doing it with the box grater.

And only £7.

RandomCatGenerator · 03/11/2022 16:34

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie whay do you like about the sea salt boots? And which ones do you have?

whatsdiswhatsdat · 03/11/2022 16:37

Slow cooker. Makes enough for 2 days worth of dinners.

Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser. I get it out every year around October and use it often through the winter.

Nintendo Switch Lite Grin

AuntieDickhead · 03/11/2022 16:39

My bed Grin

@mamacattiva what veg chopper do you have please? I'm lazy and need a quicker way to do things!

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 03/11/2022 16:41

Oh and a superking tv bed with a Tempur mattress. I have health issues and need to rest a lot so it is helpful for me as like lying on a cloud

AMessageToYouRuby · 03/11/2022 16:43

I also have ADHD and bad sleep. I've fallen in love with my Lumie sunrise alarm clock. TBH my expectations were low but I love it. Definitely feel better waking up and the sunset function has truly helped me sleep

Wireless earphones, especially my Airpods
Roku stick with Private Listening
Bean to Cup Coffee Machine
SAGE Blender
Citrus Press
Is it taking the piss to say my plumbed in fridge with water and ice?
Silk pillowcases and Linen bedding
Nuxe lipbalm
Almond Body oil
Silicone Body Loofah

All make my daily life so much nicer. A random thing I've found I love is Silicone mini spatulas, so, so handy for cooking and silicone moulds that are portion sized make freezing my lunches so easy.

Could you share which one you have please @loadthewash ?

Pearls1234 · 03/11/2022 16:50

Dyson Airwrap. I have a lot of hair that takes forever to dry and then style, so it’s drastically reduced the time and effort required.

My go-to is a smooth, bouncy style with the round brush but love the waves it creates with the barrels too. Had it almost 2 years, no issues.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/11/2022 16:55

My bed. Handmade by a small independent company who reclaim timber from old buildings and make furniture from them. The wood is very old and my bed has old nail marks and notches in which gives it so much character.

Linen bedding (there's an obvious theme here!) I can only afford one set at the moment so changing the bed is something of a mission as I desperately don't want to put the old cotton set back on <princess>

Airpods, so much better than any other headphones I've tried. Initially added them to my mobile plan as a gimmick, nor would be genuinely devastated if something happened to them.

My car, a brute of a thing that costs me a small fortune in diesel but which makes me feel safe as I drive through rural countryside after a late or night shift. It also has heated seats and screens which I appreciate so much after a night shift!

greenhousegal · 03/11/2022 16:59

I have three and they are not going anywhere!

Apple Watch. Apart from all the fitness gizmos it tracks my heart rate as I have arrhythmia, and when I am away/abroad it shows me who is at the door via doorbell app.

My new car after many years of bangers and the HEATED SEATS.

My (mad expensive) hearing aids. Tiny and with Bluetooth for everything Bluetooth enabled.

I'm glad I wasn't born in Victorian times.

Bluevelvetsofa · 03/11/2022 17:03

Bean to cup machine

Heated steering wheel in the car. My hands are always cold and I don’t like wearing gloves whilst driving.

Beko cordless vacuum cleaner.
