I bought an Amazon Alexa and I can honestly say it's saved me. My life is so much less chaotic! I have ADHD and I can..

Add things to my shopping list just by shouting them out! So I don't have to remember to write anything down, or forget what it was that I was going to write, I just say it there and then

I can ask my Alexa to play brown noise to help me sleep

I can say 'Alexa, start my day' - and she will tell me a random fact, tell me the time and the weather outside, and then put on my favourite radio station

I love her! Not an advert as I don't particularly like Amazon - never really 'same day delivery' and they put their prime costs up

I also use my omelette maker a lot. I suffer from executive functioning issues, big part of my ADHD. This means I get a half decent bit of food that's easy to make

Microplane graters. Make all the difference.

RhubarbFairy · 03/11/2022 17:10

My Dublin boots. I have knee high river boots and calf high ones. I'm on my second pair of river boots. My first pair lasted me 6 years and had been all over the world with me.
Waterproof and warm.

Our Emma mattress.

Countertop Sage oven - I bought it a few years ago as a temporary replacement when our built in oven packed up and I loved it so much I bought a second one a few months later so I can cook a roast and potatoes simultaneously. The oven takes up very little counter space but I can still fit a large joint or a turkey crown in it. It uses less energy than a regular oven and has a grill and air fryer function. Cakes always fab/ does great toast/ easy to clean ( base slides out for wiping. 😘

JohnsShirt · 03/11/2022 17:14

Air Fryer
Electric blanket

I love both and would replace in a second.

mamacattiva · 03/11/2022 17:14

@AuntieDickhead @BingBangBollocks

It’s this one, I was sceptical when I ordered it (saw it recommended on Instagram) as it looked like it could be flimsy but it’s really sturdy and easy to use. Easy to clean too. Happy chopping!

My car - heated seats - omg heaven!
My Lancôme lip gloss
my super duty puffer coat. I got it out today as it’s cold here and I was so snug and warm. I’ll wear until until April

Floralnomad · 03/11/2022 17:18

My worktop halogen oven , I use it everyday and am on my second one . I was cat sitting at my sisters last week and it was a complete pain having to put the big oven on all the time .
A brown bear footstool , ( hamish) , my sister got him for me and I use him all the time . I’ve got the moose one as well ( Murray) but he’s not used as a footstool because his antlers are a bit delicate .

Ohmygoshposh · 03/11/2022 17:19

Airpods & discovering podcasts

Heated blanket on bed & throw on sofa

Decent car - made me much more confident on motorways

BuryingAcorns · 03/11/2022 17:21

Boodi bamboo support bra for sleeping in. Really soft and comfortable but supportive enough to put on after work/shower and then keep on under PJs all night. I have a few now.

VinoDino · 03/11/2022 17:23

Air Fryer. Glad I got in there before they rocketed in price and flew off the shelves.

My dishwasher.

Heated throw on sofa.

paintedsmile · 03/11/2022 17:25

Electric blanket and brushed cotton bedding. I love bedtime.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 03/11/2022 17:26

My antique longcase clock, built in 1790 by a clockmaker local to me - keeps perfect time, the rythmn of its movement is like a heartbeat, it stands at the foot of my stairs and is very tactile, I can't help touching it every time I walk past and wind it up religiously every Friday night, to signify the start of the weekend!

Chanel lipstick. I splurged on it. It stays on, looks good and makes me feel fancy, even though it’s a fairly neutral colour. Sounds daft as a thirty something with a husband and a child but it makes me feel like a grown up!

Coffee machine. Stops me spending £3.70 on a flat white every time I go to work - I make it in my own kitchen and take it in a thermal mug. And makes really nice strong coffee. Love it and within 20 coffees I’ve made back the cost!

Exactly the same as me! Coffee machine is amazing (even if I’m not great at frothing the milk!)

Chanel lipsticks are my favourite, @canyouseetjree www.johnlewis.com/chanel-rouge-coco-flash-colour-shine-intensity-in-a-flash/p3955470 this range in particular.

I’ll also add my gel nail kit with the led machine, I’ve got quite good at it now and it’s saved me £40 a month. I’ve also started just using normal nail varnish in between the gel bottom and top coat and it seems to be working fine 🤷‍♀️

Another (ADHD) vote for Alexa. I hate Amazon and know I'm being listened to but it stops me burning food, wakes me up, reminds of me of stuff I have to do, keeps control of my shopping and to-do list.

Bluetooth sleep headband - I have insomnia and use it to listen to podcasts etc to get to sleep without bothering DH or having to wake up and take off proper headphones. Downside - DH complains he's sleeping with Axel Rose every night.

Ebike. Cost a LOT of money but I don't have a car and use it constantly. I live in a very hilly area so its a godsend.

Fitbit sense - use it as a watch, to track steps, to pay for stuff.

Little diffuser tea pot - (think the brand is forlife) . I use it to make tea and coffee using lose tea and ground coffee. Much less faff and mess than a proper coffee maker but does the job.

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/11/2022 17:30

Strawberry huller - I love strawberries and it was a game changer!
Shiseido face powder - expensive, but beautiful stuff
yoga crop tops from John Lewis instead of bras

VitaminX · 03/11/2022 17:30

Our bike trailer. One of the best things we ever bought. We got it over 6 years ago when DD was 1 and are still using it occasionally for DS who is 5, sometimes a friend of his as well, plus shopping or ferrying other things. It's like our second car and has meant we rarely had to use the actual car at all even with two small children.

We have a Nordic Cab and it's excellent but I think it's the concept rather than the actual brand.

yomellamoHelly · 03/11/2022 17:33

My glass teapot. The nespresso coffee machine. My Pixelbook... An the lakeland faux fur electric blanket!

TheLateLadyLothbrook · 03/11/2022 17:35

Slow cooker - saved me a few times when I've been under the weather but needed to chuck something in for the kids tea. It's worth it for the soups alone.

Electric heat pad - invaluable for menstrual pelvic pain and ibs pains.

Salicylic acid soap from amazon - nothing else keeps my acne at bay

SkylightSkylight · 03/11/2022 17:35

MintJulia · 03/11/2022 16:30

My slow cooker. I wfh, often put supper in the slow-cooker at lunchtime and it's done by six, giving me my evening back. 😊

Sat-nav

My heated windscreen - no more scraping frost.

My log burner, keeps us toasty, is saving me money, doesn't upset the neighbours and means I don't need a shredder.

@MintJulia

I presume your heated windscreen comes with a car? What is it?

I love my Ford, I LOVE the quick defrost & mist free windscreen, but as Ford seem to be stopping making cars, I'm trying to decide 'what next' but one of my BIGGEST requirements is the same Quick Defrost windscreen. I'm not buying anything that isn't as good.

My MacBook Air M1. I have agonised since I dropped my old (discontinued) MacBook and the screen broke last year, but took the plunge two weeks ago (after the new ones launched… I was so tempted) and I just fucking love it. I paid extra for 16gb of ram and now I have zero hang time and it never ever even gets warm (my old MacBook used to burn my legs on the regular).

My refurbished ipad mini. It’s great to be able to go out, pick up work on it from my MacBook Air, then pass it back over later, because all the tech and apps actually speak to each other properly.

The duplo game annual pass for the game I installed on the ipad. He just gets so much from the activities and his fine motor co ordination is coming on so much.

The £65 tailgate tent I bought for the car. I thought it would be crap, but it’s great. Now we can literally stop and rest anywhere.

I just need to pick a new phone as my iPhone 7 has a faulty battery, a spiderweb of cracks across the screen and the processor just can’t handle Mumsnet very well these days.

roarfeckingroarr · 03/11/2022 17:36

@loadthewash can you make runny omelettes in an omelette maker?

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 03/11/2022 17:38

My bed!!

olivehater · 03/11/2022 17:39

Revlon one step. I use it with a hairdryer as my hair is too thick to use on its own. Never had time to blow dry with a round brush and this is almost as good.

avocadotofu · 03/11/2022 17:39

My Miele coffee machine - it's like having coffee shop coffee at home. My sodastream, really helps me drink enough water and counteract the dehydration from all the extra caffeine I now consume.
