I bought an Amazon Alexa and I can honestly say it's saved me. My life is so much less chaotic! I have ADHD and I can..

Add things to my shopping list just by shouting them out! So I don't have to remember to write anything down, or forget what it was that I was going to write, I just say it there and then

I can ask my Alexa to play brown noise to help me sleep

I can say 'Alexa, start my day' - and she will tell me a random fact, tell me the time and the weather outside, and then put on my favourite radio station

I love her! Not an advert as I don't particularly like Amazon - never really 'same day delivery' and they put their prime costs up

I also use my omelette maker a lot. I suffer from executive functioning issues, big part of my ADHD. This means I get a half decent bit of food that's easy to make

A Klean Kanteen insulated tumbler. I use it daily at home for water and other cold drinks. It kept them cold even on the hottest days and unlike a normal glass there's no risk of spilling it so it's great for on my desk, by the bed etc. Bought in the spring and used every day since.

I got a Klean Kanteen bottle as a gift a few years ago. It is absolutely amazing. DH took a fancy to it, but baulked at the price when we looked it up. I was blown away by the generosity of the gift giver.

Lumie alarm clock- for same reasons as pp. Like many with adhd, I find waking up hard and love the sunset feature just as much.

Electric blanket and brushed cotton sheets - keep me so snug this time of year

My car - for the freedom and independence that comes with it - public transport is so expensive now!

China teapot. Not a fancy one but tea tastes so much better from it :)

Opi nail polish. It lasts so much longer than the high street brands I used to buy.

I would like to add a rather boring and practical parenting one: Cheeky Wipes.

Started using them just as wet wipe-replacements for my son, to try to cut down on the amount of baby waste we were producing. But then I got the brightly coloured and patterned ones to use as face and hand wipes when he started eating solids. They’re lovely! They stay quite soft, you just wet them and they work a wonder for wiping off anything from poo to bolognaise.

As DS has gone through a long period of a bad sharty tummy (sometimes he’ll go through 7 or 8 nappies a day) and it’s become hard to dry stuff with the damp weather, we have mostly returned to wet wipes for his bum. But we use the lovely hand and face ones at every meal and between meals.

They are quite expensive but I really like them. And for the number of times we’ve used each, they definitely work out as good value for money. Recommend.

RandomCatGenerator · 05/11/2022 23:46

Oh - and we’ve never had nappy rash. May just be luck.

RandomCatGenerator · 05/11/2022 23:49

@fernz @RhubarbFairy which bottles do you have? I have a selection of Chilly bottles which are nice but you have to unscrew for each sip.

LesOliviers · 06/11/2022 00:10

Kettle in a lovely shade of blue. It cheers me up every time I make a cuppa.

Nuxe Huile de Prodigieuse Riche body oil. I've been using it for years but absolutely love the stuff.

Flexitol heel balm. I have feet as soft as a baby's because of this balm.

Mine is this one, I only use it at home and then have a water bottle for when I'm out.

My stovetop coffee maker.

Cost less than a tenner (it's not a bialetti but it looks like one) about 20 years ago and I've used it most mornings since. It's just bits of metal that you put together to brew then take apart to wash so it can't break or develop a fault but the shape and design means it makes perfect coffee (for me).

I absolutely love it and I swear the coffee tastes better now than when I first got it because it's had flavour worked through it so many times.

I did splash out on a little handheld milk frother to go with it a couple of years ago and I use that a lot too especially at weekends when I get rash urges for cappuccino.

Aldi do a nice West Country butter with salt crystals. I've sadly gone over to Flora, butter is too expensive now

Ladyofthelake53 · 06/11/2022 07:02

Does are rescue Whippet and lurcher. Can't believe pp paid 1500 for a lurcher there's so so many in rescue. Was it a Hancock ?

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 06/11/2022 07:05

Pixie coffee machine.

I love it so much that I have one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom, like a hotel room, where I first used one. ☕️

Chanel lipstick. I splurged on it. It stays on, looks good and makes me feel fancy, even though it’s a fairly neutral colour. Sounds daft as a thirty something with a husband and a child but it makes me feel like a grown up!

Coffee machine. Stops me spending £3.70 on a flat white every time I go to work - I make it in my own kitchen and take it in a thermal mug. And makes really nice strong coffee. Love it and within 20 coffees I’ve made back the cost!

Which coffee machine please? I have sent back several because they coffee is not hot enough, too much of a faff or can’t work them!

GADDay · 06/11/2022 07:09

Thermomix. Could NOT live without it.
La Marzocco coffee machine
Ugg boots

A bean to cup coffee machine. It’s wonderful, and I don’t buy coffee anymore.

Eyebrow mascara. I’m blonde and don’t wear much makeup, but it honestly completely makes me look put together and along with a slick of mascara gives me a full madeup look without any other makeup.

Which machine please?

MidnightConstellation · 06/11/2022 07:26

Which machine please?

A melitta caffeo solo. Don’t bother with the one with a milk frother, you have to pay ridiculous amounts to get a good one. Just get the version that only makes coffee and buy a separate milk frother.

MidnightConstellation · 06/11/2022 07:38

DoctorAcula · 03/11/2022 17:42

Bean to cup machine. I don't drink a lot of coffee but I love a freshly ground 2 shot tall coffee with milk every morning without fail at the touch of 2 buttons.

Silk pillowcases. My latest are from Aldi and they are so lovely to sleep on, I feel like a princess.

Ninja foodi 14in1. Completely changed how we cook now and clean up is a cinch. Barely use the oven and hob anymore. When we redo the kitchen I plan to move the oven out of the way as we barely use it.

Again, which machine please?

DoctorAcula · 06/11/2022 07:42

The coffee machine? I have a Delonghi coffee corso. It's 4yrs old and love it. They are a lot more expensive now than when I got mine but if mine died, I'd replace it tomorrow.

Belibdst - should say "Blundstone boots". Been wearing them for more than 25 years. A pair last about 6 years of heavy use, they seem to go with everything.
