I bought an Amazon Alexa and I can honestly say it's saved me. My life is so much less chaotic! I have ADHD and I can..

Add things to my shopping list just by shouting them out! So I don't have to remember to write anything down, or forget what it was that I was going to write, I just say it there and then

I can ask my Alexa to play brown noise to help me sleep

I can say 'Alexa, start my day' - and she will tell me a random fact, tell me the time and the weather outside, and then put on my favourite radio station

I love her! Not an advert as I don't particularly like Amazon - never really 'same day delivery' and they put their prime costs up

I also use my omelette maker a lot. I suffer from executive functioning issues, big part of my ADHD. This means I get a half decent bit of food that's easy to make

also that one freezer section can turn into a fridge if we need more fridge space for parties

Loachworks · 03/11/2022 19:30

Dubarry Galway boots. I've just had them relaced and cleaned because they were starting to look a bit tatty but they've been used daily, usually in mud, for years. They aren't cheap but wear for wear they're worth it and are so comfortable.

ladymalfoy45 · 03/11/2022 19:32

DAB radio. Kindle Oasis.

OhamIreally · 03/11/2022 19:32

Kaarcher window vac

spiderlight · 03/11/2022 19:33

Not technically bought, but our rescued cocker spaniel makes me laugh a hundred times a day, and our allotment has been a sanity-saver and a way to meet some lovely new people, as well as a source of loads of lovely fresh fruit and veg.

emptythelitterbox · 03/11/2022 19:39

My oodie

Coffeesnob11 · 03/11/2022 19:45

Another adhder vote for alexa
My walking machine second hand means I can get my steps in at home (lone parent)
Precut greaseproof paper for baking, it's made life so much easier.
My oven liner means I have to clean a lot less often
Mac colour corrector it's the only thing that's even half touched my dark circles
Some fruit shape cutters. Amazing how much more fruit my dc will eat if its in the shape of something!

comfortablyfrumpy · 03/11/2022 19:50

Electric blanket, air fryer, slow cooker and BBC Sounds (though that's free so does it count?).

Bought for me, my Amazon Oodie dupe. Currently very snuggly!

Backtoblack1 · 03/11/2022 19:52

George Foreman grill with removable plates. Use it every single day!

unsync · 03/11/2022 19:54

My Kenwood Chef and my sewing machine(s).

Used4tt · 03/11/2022 20:03

Lovely fingerless gloves. I wear them pretty much constantly when I'm at my pc from about now to April.

Also, my sheepskin slippers. They are expensive and ugly but I wear them every single day all day and I luffs them. When this pair eventually dies I'm not sure what I'll do though as I'm trying to stop buying new animal products and these are the best and most durable slippers I've ever had.

My Velvetiser. I got it when they first came out and will replace it ASAP when it breaks.

Dibbydoos · 03/11/2022 20:05

Alexa and Google listen to you all the time.... They are both useful and worrisome.

A mobile with a pen - galaxy Note 10 was my first, 4 or 5 later and I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra. Best thing ever!!!

Verbena87 · 03/11/2022 20:07

Sewing machine

down jacket

Good walking boots

Verbena87 · 03/11/2022 20:08

Oh and a vintage neverbend garden fork. (Clay soil. It is brilliant)

Letsrunabath · 03/11/2022 20:08

Already mentioned
Dubarry boots 12 years old worn everyday in winter will replace in a nano second when they die.
my kitchenaid chopper, hardly ever use my kitchenaid food processor now kids have gone but this is perfect for 2 people.

Used4tt · 03/11/2022 20:12

A nice (inexpensive) notebook for work instead of the generic A4 jotters from Tescos. It makes me happy. 😂

Also, weirdly I've started using a mechanical pencil for my work notes and much prefer it to a pen.

BG2015 · 03/11/2022 20:15

My kindle - love it since I first bought one many years ago.

I also have ADHD.

Alexa definitely transformed my life.

So did buying a massive slow cooker. I batch cook a load of portions in there on a day when I've got the energy and then on days when I don't I just heat something up from the freezer. Similarly, buying a chest freezer for the garage (so that I can store more portions!).

@weleasewoderick23 you can access your Alexa shopping list on your Amazon account or in the Alexa app, or connect it to another app - our shopping and to do lists are connected to an app called Todoist

I also have ADHD and bad sleep. I've fallen in love with my Lumie sunrise alarm clock. TBH my expectations were low but I love it. Definitely feel better waking up and the sunset function has truly helped me sleep

Wireless earphones, especially my Airpods
Roku stick with Private Listening
Bean to Cup Coffee Machine
SAGE Blender
Citrus Press
Is it taking the piss to say my plumbed in fridge with water and ice?
Silk pillowcases and Linen bedding
Nuxe lipbalm
Almond Body oil
Silicone Body Loofah

All make my daily life so much nicer. A random thing I've found I love is Silicone mini spatulas, so, so handy for cooking and silicone moulds that are portion sized make freezing my lunches so easy.

Which coffee machine do you have and do you love it?

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere i second the super king tempur mattress. Actually dread hotel or guest beds now!

It was money very well spent. Considering we spend so long in bed. I no longer have back pain, hip pain or knee pain in the mornings.

Dread holiday beds now and my back is always in bits when I get back

BrandyandGinger · 03/11/2022 20:28

I love my air fryer. My favourite thing is reheated leftover chilli or curry in a wrap- the wrap gets so brown and crispy and the filling reheats so quickly.
I bought polyurethane walking boots a few years ago and they're totally waterproof and seem like they'll last forever.
I couldn't live without Spotify now, I used to spend a fortune on CDs.

powercut101 · 03/11/2022 20:37

My nissan qashqai for its heated seats and is ability to be really thrifty on diesel for a car of its size.

My Cavilar King Charles because she's just a dot

AirPods (bloody Brillant)

Calm app (bloody Brillant if you can't sleep like me) and the kids section is amazing too (for my toddler who likes to listen to bedtime story)

My revolution face peel serum (because it's bloody Brillant and cost effective)

My sketchers (because I'm old and have to many kids to not have comfy shoes)

Emma mattress and handmade bed.

My giant sofa which is the squishiest sofa on planet

Eufy because wooden floors attract all the hair and she's cleans in the night and returns back to her home when done.

ehb102 · 03/11/2022 20:52

Big U shaped pillow. If I have any reason why I have to sleep on my back I need to use this. Has been used in pregnancy, after surgery, when I've pulled a muscle...

familyissues12345 · 03/11/2022 21:17

Ohmygoshposh · 03/11/2022 17:19

Airpods & discovering podcasts

Heated blanket on bed & throw on sofa

Decent car - made me much more confident on motorways

@Ohmygoshposh , which podcasts do you listen to? Can you recommend any please? I'm open to anything but never know where to start!

BlackAlys · 03/11/2022 21:18

My neom diffuser (was given to me as a gift - not sure I could justify the expense) - love my scents and essential oils that makes my home smell beautiful.
