I bought an Amazon Alexa and I can honestly say it's saved me. My life is so much less chaotic! I have ADHD and I can..

Add things to my shopping list just by shouting them out! So I don't have to remember to write anything down, or forget what it was that I was going to write, I just say it there and then

I can ask my Alexa to play brown noise to help me sleep

I can say 'Alexa, start my day' - and she will tell me a random fact, tell me the time and the weather outside, and then put on my favourite radio station

I love her! Not an advert as I don't particularly like Amazon - never really 'same day delivery' and they put their prime costs up

I also use my omelette maker a lot. I suffer from executive functioning issues, big part of my ADHD. This means I get a half decent bit of food that's easy to make

Car with heated seats - a joy for my kidneys on cold mornings
A Screwpull corkscrew with separate foil cutter
Chanel lipsticks + nail polish
Ugg slippers
Max Mara coats - stylish, warm and beautifully cut

DoctorAcula · 03/11/2022 17:42

Bean to cup machine. I don't drink a lot of coffee but I love a freshly ground 2 shot tall coffee with milk every morning without fail at the touch of 2 buttons.

Silk pillowcases. My latest are from Aldi and they are so lovely to sleep on, I feel like a princess.

Ninja foodi 14in1. Completely changed how we cook now and clean up is a cinch. Barely use the oven and hob anymore. When we redo the kitchen I plan to move the oven out of the way as we barely use it.

KnittingAuntie · 03/11/2022 17:43

My Happy Planner . . . I have the classic size and have added sections for addresses, finance, meal planning and Christmas. I feel so organized when I use it!!! Just worried that I won't be able to afford to update the calendar pages next year due to cost of living. . . they're quite expensive.

I also enjoy my collection of coffee mugs . . . I've received some as gifts and have bought others as mementos of holidays or just because I liked the design. I love opening the cupboard door and selecting one for my cuppa . . . each one has a story or a memory for me

My Brompton folding bike. I keep it in the hallway. When I need to pop out, it’s ready in a minute.

Iwouldliketogovegan · 03/11/2022 17:45

My kindle. I love that I can go on holiday with loads of books without the extra weight, that I can change the font, that no one can see what I'm reading, I can read with the light out.

Frenchfancy · 03/11/2022 17:45

My ooni pizza oven. I thought it was going to be a gimmick but we have used it twice a week (not just for pizza) since we got it.

Wereongunoil · 03/11/2022 17:47

My dogs
Love them to bits and we do lots of dog sports.
We have a whale of a time

Lentilweaver · 03/11/2022 17:50

Another vote for Kindle.

Mol1628 · 03/11/2022 17:51

My AirPods Pro - I use the bus each day and the noise cancellation on them is amazingly good.

SHO insulated water bottle- means I have cold water at my desk all day. Other brands work fine I’m sure but this one is also very pretty.

Cocolapew · 03/11/2022 17:56

Kindle app and Library app on my phone.
Spotify.
Alexa device and DAB radio in my car so I can listen to Magic Soul all day long.
Heated throw, electric blanket, air fryer, my dog.

Jemimapuddleduk · 03/11/2022 17:59

Peloton bike.
coffee machine, velvetiser, proper Japanese knives, delikate recovery cream (sorted my mid life hormonal, angry skin out and lasts forever, Clarins bb skin detox.

@MintJulia

I presume your heated windscreen comes with a car? What is it?

I love my Ford, I LOVE the quick defrost & mist free windscreen, but as Ford seem to be stopping making cars, I'm trying to decide 'what next' but one of my BIGGEST requirements is the same Quick Defrost windscreen. I'm not buying anything that isn't as good.

Volvo V40.

Heated seats, quick defrost screen, satnav, sensors to tell me if a tyre pressure is low. I love it. Lots of legroom for 6' teens as well.

The road holding isn't as good as my last car but I love the gadgets, and it was about time I slowed down. 😊

Electric blanket and brushed cotton bedding. I love bedtime.

Yes to brushed cotton! It makes such a difference.

Vargas · 03/11/2022 18:03

My phone holder for the car, clips in the vent at perfect angle for sat nav and podcast management.

Ordinary serum foundation - cheap and light and perfect for my combo skin.

Grapefruit flavour gin - yum

My new Birkenstock slippers. Bliss.

Sorry to sound thick but ....
Once you told Alexa how to you translate that to going shopping? I've never done it for that reason as I obviously can't take the Alexa with me!

HiGunny · 03/11/2022 18:04

My Eufy hoover. No more pet hair and crumbs all over the floor, I can run Eufy every morning while I'm working upstairs. It's decreased my workload SO much.

My Kindle - have it years now and it's still going strong. I use it loads, it's brilliant for commuting.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 03/11/2022 18:04

Another one wanting to know which vegetable chopper @mamacattiva

My own 'couldn't live without' item is my cast iron enamelled casserole dish.
I'd had a Le Creuset one for nearly thirty years but it became matt and the enamel wore away as I'd repeatedly put it in the dishwasher.

A few years ago I bought a John Lewis replacement. Still looks brand, shiny new and pristine.

Once it's heated up , the gas gets turned to low and it saves on energy whilst gently bubbling away .
And dumplings are cracking in it.

catfunk · 03/11/2022 18:05

Real wool blankets - SO toasty
Sage coffee machine
AirPod pros - noise cancellation is great for busy shops etc.
Boiling water tap with a stretchy hose bit - it's amazing
Dyson airwrap

But I think my favourite ever is.... my soda stream.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/11/2022 18:05

Adds Chanel lipstick to ‘Must have’ list.

Yes to Kindle and Spotify. Both life changing imo.

Routinedriven · 03/11/2022 18:06

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere i second the super king tempur mattress. Actually dread hotel or guest beds now!

Redup · 03/11/2022 18:07

Champagneforeveryone · 03/11/2022 16:55

My bed. Handmade by a small independent company who reclaim timber from old buildings and make furniture from them. The wood is very old and my bed has old nail marks and notches in which gives it so much character.

Linen bedding (there's an obvious theme here!) I can only afford one set at the moment so changing the bed is something of a mission as I desperately don't want to put the old cotton set back on <princess>

Airpods, so much better than any other headphones I've tried. Initially added them to my mobile plan as a gimmick, nor would be genuinely devastated if something happened to them.

My car, a brute of a thing that costs me a small fortune in diesel but which makes me feel safe as I drive through rural countryside after a late or night shift. It also has heated seats and screens which I appreciate so much after a night shift!

Your bed sounds very special :)

You can check your shopping list on the Alexa app on your phone in the supermarket. Or you can tie it in with Anylist - even better, as it sorts items into categories.

NemoNotThatOne · 03/11/2022 18:09

Good Grips garlic press. The only one I've found that genuinely gets all the bits out of the holes.

Celine Trio bag- I never normally spend so much on a bag but am so pleased I did with this.

stuntbubbles · 03/11/2022 18:15

@Champagneforeveryone Please tell me more about the bed company!

mine:
• My bbhug, I think? Unsure of name – wildly expensive pregnancy pillow but MY GOD, THE SLEEP
• SodaStream
• Big fuck-off US-style fridge freezer. It is the perfect antidote to DP’s “sling everything in randomly” fridge-filling style; I can see what we have! I can’t believe it’s actually mine
• David Austin roses
• Frederic Malle perfume
• Posh butter with sea salt flakes

caringcarer · 03/11/2022 18:17

Bean to cup coffee machine. DH has 5 cups a day and me 1 or 2.
