Love these threads for getting dinner ideas. I'll start. We're having chinese chicken fried rice, using some of the whole chicken we roasted this morning.

What are you having?

OP posts:

Am I the only one taking pizzas out the freezer and putting them in the oven?

rainbowstardrops · 24/10/2022 16:55

I try to keep to a meat-free Monday dinner for me and the kids (not always possible but then we have a different day instead) because that's what they had at school, even though they're early 20's/late teens now 😂
So we have homemade veggie curry with rice and naan bread tonight

Rebecca75 · 24/10/2022 16:55

Steak, sweet potato wedges salad and peppercorn sauce - birthday meal. And currently making a beef stew in the slow cooker for tomorrow night😋😋

Cold lamb from yesterday’s roast with bubble and steak, pickles

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie @Mrsweasleysclock
Leek pudding is suet pastry, same as for steak and kidney pudding, but just filled with sliced leeks, salt, pepper and a bit of butter, and steamed. I do mine in the slow cooker and it's lovely.

Mrsweasleysclock · 24/10/2022 16:57

Nothing interesting today as we're all a bit tired. Tomorrow, mackerel and Potato Curry with rice.

That sounds delicious. Any chance of a recipe and slow cooking instructions?

Sukiyaki hotpot with shabu shabu sliced beef, Chinese cabbage and shiitake mushrooms. I'll serve it with rice

ProperVexed · 24/10/2022 17:03

I'm having a Munchkin squash stuffed with leeks and blue cheese. DH is having Heinz spaghetti on toast with cheese.

Rauha · 24/10/2022 17:03

Spaghetti with bacon, spinach, tomato and chilli sauce plus lots of parmesan.

LuckySantangelo35 · 24/10/2022 17:05

Loads of nice meals but where you all find the time?! I’ll be having beans on toast at 8.30pm after my gym sesh 🤣

Orchidkiller2 · 24/10/2022 17:06

Toad in the hole, chips, veg and gravy. Had sausages that needed using and that's all I have the energy for.

PinkButtercups · 24/10/2022 17:08

Whatever is in the freezer because I cba with dinner today.

thejadefish · 24/10/2022 17:08

Chicken katsu curry (with onion, carrot & potato in the curry sauce using block/premade sauce from the chinese supermarket - the kind that you dissolve in hot water. I also bought the panko breadcrumbs from there because it's much cheaper than a regular supermarket) with white rice & some boiled broccoli on the side for DD (she's not keen on curry sauce so usually just fried chicken, rice & broccoli for her. I got a mould to shape the rice into a rabbit shape off eBay a while ago, if I'm feeling fancy I might add a couple of frozen peas for eyes and cut a small triangle of ham for the nose but probably not!).

I really want a large greasy Donna kebab covered in garlic mayo with a side of chips but will probably have black bean stir fry instead because I've got peppers and mushrooms in the fridge I need to use

This by any chance inspired by the thread earlier today where the OP and her mate were in disagreement over payment for their late night takeawaynover the weekend? As I've been craving the exact same meal since reading itGrin
In reality though, it'll be one of this week's Hello Fresh box meals - bacon and mustard penne with a blue cheese and pear salad

Margo34 · 24/10/2022 17:09

Beetroot risotto

Vampirethriller · 24/10/2022 17:10

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie here you are:

8oz self raising flour
4oz suet
Mix with water to stiffish dough

Roll out 3/4 of it and line a 1pt pudding basin, fill with sliced leeks (one very big one usually does it) salt and pepper, a tbsp or so of butter
Roll out the other quarter of dough to make a lid, cover the top with silver foil

Put into empty slow cooker and pour boiling water around it to come up to about 3/4 of the basin, cook on medium 6 hours

AriettyHomily · 24/10/2022 17:10

Another spaghetti and meatballs here, I made the sauce but the meatballs are from the butcher.

waltzingparrot · 24/10/2022 17:17

I was all set to make Jamie Oliver's spicy meatballs from his one pan wonders, only to find I haven't any lentils. So instead I've got DS in training, making spaghetti bolognaise, whilst I direct from the kitchen table.

Lakeyloo · 24/10/2022 17:19

Salmon fillets, steamed baby potatoes and carrots from the allotment and some sad looking tender stem broccoli that's been in the bottom of the fridge for some time, but will hopefully spring back to life once it's in the saucepan.

PaniniHead · 24/10/2022 17:23

Eggs (assembly undecided), baked beans, turkey rashers, veggie sausages and hash browns. It’s my Fuck It can’t be arsed tea.

changer121 · 24/10/2022 17:26

Dd and dh are having leftover risotto from the freezer and I'm having a smoked mackerel pate - again from said freezer with some toast and cornichons.
None of us are feeling 100% so not too fussed.

StiggyZardust · 24/10/2022 17:28

Beef biryani and dhal. Using up stuff from the fridge as we're going on holiday tomorrow ✈️🌴✈️

BeetFeet · 24/10/2022 17:28

Chicken borscht and varenyky (Ukranian potato dumplings)

Mojitomogul · 24/10/2022 17:28

Sausage and mash, green beans and shredded cabbage stirfried with tumeric 😍
