Sunak at least shows some signs of being able to 'read the room' of public feeling compared to other Tories and at least attempt to respond appropriately. The downside is he's the only one who might possibly allow them to win again but I suspect forces will be sufficiently against him that it's not a goer.

I think Peston is right, he discovered that no-one who actually knew what they were doing was ready to serve under him.
