Nearly 53, definitely menopausal...or pregnant???

I know it doesn't sound possible but I'm being sick, can't stand the smell of my husband, have terrible headaches and am craving rice. I never eat rice! Also I can't bear tea and I normally drink gallons of it!
It must be a virus, right? No-one my age could possibly be preggers?

At 53 I would say it is vanishingly unlikely that you are pregnant.

CallTheMobWife · 21/10/2022 11:26

Technically possible but extremely unlikely. For those referring to periods post 50....having periods does not mean you can get pregnant. It's highly unlikely you are ovulating, and if you were, its even less likely any eggs would be of a quality that would allow for fertilisation. IF that happened, it would be very unlikely to lead to a live birth.

You've a better chance of winning the lotto

This made me smile so much! I hope you get the result you want x

WTF? Surely they can't do that? That must be against NICE guidelines.

I'm nearly 53 and still having regular periods!

That was my reaction too. WTF! I'm not in the UK so NICE doesn't apply. I was at the clinic a couple of weeks ago to renew my prescription and the midwife said it would be the last one as they don't prescribe past 52. Fuck knows what happens then.

CallTheMobWife · 21/10/2022 11:27

If I were you I'd get a covid test while you're there, its far more likely than pregnancy

It's not at all against NICE guidelines. Prescribing contraception to people who don't need it is though.

This is my worst nightmare and I’m ‘only’ 45.

Two of my aunties thought they were having menopause symptoms and were actually pregnant in their late 40s. Argh.

Good luck, OP!

massistar · 21/10/2022 11:46

Blatantly marking. I'd have a hairy fit if I was pregnant at 50!
