And the froth inducing responses prove it's easier to wind up a mumsnetter than a clock
god the stupid really is strong on here

SallyWD · 18/10/2022 07:15

No.

AlwaysLatte · 18/10/2022 07:18

No! I do buy vaguely Christmassy (eg tartan) pyjamas for the boys' Christmas Eve boxes (so they can wear them year round) but matching sets for the whole family is so naff. What do you do if you have guests staying? Make them feel like they're not part of the clan, or worse, buy them a pair?

I have the same pairs for DH & I and have just bought bigger sizes for DS second-hand on Vinted.

We’re set for the next 6 years with the same set.

PortiasBiscuit · 18/10/2022 07:21

I don’t but I might for a laugh. It would be very funny, my family would laugh. I see nothing wrong in investing in a bit of humour in what is a very dark time.
I spent £40 on a cardboard model of her late Majesty at the jubilee for just such a reason.
Actually, this could be the year, why not? The kids are having a shit time, DH and 17yo DD in matching jimjams could well make our Christmas!

hellcatspangle · 18/10/2022 07:23

No.

WonderingWanda · 18/10/2022 07:37

No but they do always get some nice warm winter pyjamas for Christmas. I'm firm believer in filler pressies that are things they desperately need but it makes for a more magical pile of presents. They suffer in last years too small pj's until December!

Lopilo · 18/10/2022 07:39

I think it should be the new equivalent of Eat out to Help out. Pyjama up to Heat up. The government could give each of us £10 pounds of our taxes towards it.

obsessedwithsleep · 18/10/2022 07:39

Mrsmch123 · 17/10/2022 22:43

all christmased out by the end of December so get rid of them🤷🏻‍♀️I won't wear them the rest of the year and hate having to store things for the next year🙈

You really don't give a shit about the environment do you?

MoniJitchell · 18/10/2022 07:40

No. DH doesn't wear pyjamas and DD and I get nice fancy new jammies, but not matching.

Whereisthehugeteddybear · 18/10/2022 07:40

SleepingStandingUp · 18/10/2022 00:28

I don't get what happens over time. The parents just accrue more and more pajamas!!!

Dkids all got Xmas PJs buy they're still wearing them in Oct and will continue to do so

I've got 2 short pairs and 3 long pairs but I don't need a new pair every year.

Lcb123 · 18/10/2022 07:47

No, so wasteful from an environmental perspective. Fair enough getting new (non Christmas) PJs if actually needed.

diamondsarefornextweek · 18/10/2022 07:47

Every year, hell no.
But what I did a few years ago is bought our family a matching set (me, DH, DSS), and bought DSS two pairs, one a size up from his current size, and one two sizes up, plus a couple of sets for the (as of then unborn) baby.
The outgrown sets sell on FB marketplace pretty well, and then a family set lasts us 4-5 years. Suits us pretty well!
I love to take a photo every Christmas of us in the set, and it's lovely to see them year on year Blush

What's wrong with getting Christmas PJs if needed? October and my kids are still in reindeer PJs and Santa's Gang PJs. There's nothing inherently bad about Christmas PJs unless you're binning them after two wears

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/10/2022 08:10

I would consider it but we don't have a matching family.
They are all different shapes and sizes. 😞

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 18/10/2022 08:25

Ive just bought myself Christmas pjs

but although my now adult children get pjs on Christmas eve (and dds birthday) they aren’t themed or Christmassy

MrsMontyD · 18/10/2022 09:03

Me and dd have new (non Christmas) PJs for Christmas Eve each year, we're always ready for new PJs and it's nice to have new ones on Christmas morning.

I used to buy Christmas ones for dd when she was little, but it gets a bit odd when they're wearing snowman PJs in May.

Discovereads · 18/10/2022 09:04

Never ever have I ever.

BooksAndHooks · 18/10/2022 09:06

No we have Christmas Pjs we wear every year. The kids pass theirs down to each other when they outgrow them and then they are passed through nieces and nephews.

LynneBenfield · 18/10/2022 09:07

No.

Rockbird · 18/10/2022 09:10

The elves bring pyjamas on Christmas Eve but never Christmas ones or matching. I just time it that we all need new pyjamas by Christmas! Like a previous poster though, if I was loaded I'd love to do it to see DD1's face Grin

fairtrauchled · 18/10/2022 09:14

No never

dizzydizzydizzy · 18/10/2022 10:02

No we all have different tastes and DP doesn't wear PJs.

MoggyMittens23 · 18/10/2022 10:37

Why are people saying it's wasteful?

Our DC wear them year round, they grow out of them by the next year so not really a waste? Plus we normally plan to do a couple of years with the same ones. So older DC hands down to the younger DC for the next year, and I already have the next one up in her size. DH and I of course wear the same ones again as we haven't gone up or down in size.

I don't get the wasteful comments?

(don't tar us all with the same brush as the absolute knobhead up above who tumble dries the fuck out of them then BINS them!!) we would NEVER

Someone else asked who it is for as no one is going to see anyway. Well, we don't care that no one sees as it's for us. No we don't post photos of us in them, why would we? We don't have social media anyway.

Stop assuming everything!

LivesinLondon2000 · 18/10/2022 13:30

@MoggyMittens23

Because (and you’re clearly not one of them!) lots of people buy the matching Christmas pjs for the whole family including the adults every year purely for the social media pics and then don’t wear them much again.
I know a few of these families and the adults must have at least 5 pairs of these Christmas pjs by now. And they don’t wear them again - and I know this because I’ve asked some of them 😂
