Well they bring me joy in the month of December so not a waste at all🤷🏻‍♀️

The environment might beg to differ.

Such is life🤷🏻‍♀️

IHateWasps · 17/10/2022 22:52

I bin them as they normally shrink from being in the tumble dryer......

Many clothing banks can still take them.

So sod the environment and the resources used to make them? Sod the people who made them? Consumerism has a lot to answer for.

We will this year but only because I bought them on sale in Jan at between £4 and £7 each! Me, DP and 2 DS. DP is cringing at the thought but I figured at that price for PJs it was hard to pass it up! They just happen to match. We will wear them all year round though even though they are Christmas PJs (who sees them!?). I don't do social media so there will be no pictures of us posted anywhere.

PMAmostofthetime · 17/10/2022 22:54

@Doughnuts68
Yes 🙈- but we have them on December 1st so that we can wear them throughout December and I make sure they are washed and ironed for Christmas Eve. I don't buy stupidly expensive ones and sometimes we get two years out of them.

bewarethetides · 17/10/2022 22:55

No, absolutely not

saleorbouy · 17/10/2022 22:56

No it's just a stupid Instagram, Social media thing.
Not only that be is just a senseless waste of materials in a fashion industry that is a major polluter of the planet.
Fast fashion should discouraged not encouraged.
"Pyjamas are for life not just for Christmas"😁

BaskingInTheSun · 17/10/2022 22:57

God no. And anyone who does should watch the last episode of Simon Reeves' trip through South America.

It reminds me of that bit in the hunger games where the rich people are eating food at parties and then vomiting it up so they can eat more. Meanwhile the people who farmed the food are starving.

I'm sure the people who earnt a pittance for making your Christmas PJs are absolutely thrilled that they're working in terrible conditions just so you can have a few wears of some themed pyjamas and then chuck them in the bin afterwards.

inappropriateraspberry · 17/10/2022 23:00

No.

AxolotlEars · 17/10/2022 23:01

I buy pyjamas some years, some years they match or have a theme. One year everyone had snoopy but each person's were different

MorningMoaner · 17/10/2022 23:01

No, though my ILs do it, which is one of a number of reasons why we try to avoid visiting until New Year. Multi generational nightwear horror complete with social media humiliation is definitely NOT on my Christmas list.

Kite22 · 17/10/2022 23:02

Of course not.

I mean, PJs may feature as a Christmas present if needed by anyone, but a) they aren't 'Christmas PJs' and b) they sure as heck wouldn't be matching if more than one of us asked for them.

They are literally £8 so no not more money than sense . You know nothing about my financial situation....

TheTeddyBears · 17/10/2022 23:03

No I'm not in to that it's a bit cringe. Also my dh doesn't wear pjs so he wld refuse to join in anyway. It's a big waste of money also.

SuperCamp · 17/10/2022 23:03

No, never occurred to me.

Naff and wasteful.

I'm sure they don't care about the person buying the item.
hope you don't use any single use items.....

Medoca · 17/10/2022 22:12

God no, why? I hate PJs, so does my husband. Why would you inflict that on your family? Who is going to care or see it?

Facebook & Insta of course. Surely that’s the only reason people do this! ‘Merry Christmas from the Smiths’ all sat there looking mortified apart from the Mum!

Lewiscapaldiscat · 17/10/2022 23:06

I should add- I use social media but don't post my family or my life on it. We don't smoke or drink so I spend around £40 a year on Christmas PJ's for the whole family. We enjoy it, it's a little tradition and I always buy them early so I can get good quality for good prices and sometimes I buy them in January and put them away.

RampantIvy · 17/10/2022 23:07

Erm, no.
