Yip I bin them after Xmas🙈

Do you really? Why?

roarfeckingroarr · 17/10/2022 22:38

No. I did it once when PFB was about six weeks old and I LOVE those pictures, but that'll do.

SpaceJamtart · 17/10/2022 22:39

As teenagers one year we all bought each other pyjamas for christmas- they were not matching or festive but they were nice pyjamas for a family who normally sleeps in old t-shirts and pants. That was nice, we spent most of the gooch week wearing these cozy pyjamas at home and the photos from that christmas are sweet.
Wouldn't do it every year though- especially festive ones, because either you wear the pyjamas for a few days or you wear christmassy pyjamas all year which seems a bit odd.

I know people who do, and then put shit tons of posts on social media with #soblessed and all the other nonsense.

I've never bought matching family PJs. Dh is tall and has trouble finding any that are long enough. I look ridiculous in PJs at the best of times and no way would DC countenance wearing anything the 'rents were wearing.

roarfeckingroarr · 17/10/2022 22:41

@SpaceJamtart love "gooch week".

IHateWasps · 17/10/2022 22:42

What's a gooch week?

kingtamponthefurred · 17/10/2022 22:42

What the heck are Christmas pjs? Do they self destruct on 27 December?

Mrsmch123 · 17/10/2022 22:43

howaboutchocolate · 17/10/2022 22:37

all christmased out by the end of December so get rid of them🤷🏻‍♀️I won't wear them the rest of the year and hate having to store things for the next year🙈

What a waste.

TwiggletLover · 17/10/2022 22:44

I get them for the kids. We all enjoy it

HappyBinosaur · 17/10/2022 22:45

@Mrsmch123 do you actually bin them or give them to a charity shop or local clothes bank?

feministqueen · 17/10/2022 22:45

The kids 6&5 get a pair of matching pjs every Christmas and I give them on 1st December so they get the full month out of them. The elf delivers them overnight with a letter from Santa reminding them that he will be coming soon 😊

DH and I don't have matching pjs! Waste of money as he wouldn't wear them.

fyn · 17/10/2022 22:46

No, we have a set and just source bigger sizes of the originals second hand for the children. They are both under 3 so I shouldn’t think I’ll continue to do it for much longer!

HappyBinosaur · 17/10/2022 22:46

I do have to add that the couple of times I’ve done this, I have never put photos of us on social media! My dc would not allow that!!
And guests don’t see us in them either so it is literally just for fun for the 6 of us.

JenniferWooley · 17/10/2022 22:46

I do! Just me & DD2 this year though as DD1 has moved out & DS will be at his dads for Christmas Eve.

When I first bought matching Christmas pjs about 8 years ago DD1 pitched a fit about how embarrassing & cringey it was but wore them & posed for the obligatory photos.

The following year she pitched a fit because I said I wasn't going to bother with them 🙄

We have quite the collection now & wear them throughout December.

Well they bring me joy in the month of December so not a waste at all🤷🏻‍♀️

Coatdegroan · 17/10/2022 22:49

I find the photos of families in matching pyjamas a display of too much spare cash quite honestly. Give the money to charity instead
Excuse my grumpiness. I've just been trying to repair a shitty broken sink pipe which my husband installed badly and now he's fucked off working away for the week.

ArseMenagerie · 17/10/2022 22:49

No and I think it’s consumerist nonsense that squanders resources and is a totally empty and mindless exercise. I can be a grumpy bastard though.

HappyBinosaur · 17/10/2022 22:45

I bin them as they normally shrink from being in the tumble dryer......

The environment might beg to differ.

Vonsprocker · 17/10/2022 22:50

We have new pjs left every year by the elves on Christmas Eve with reindeer food - mine are 22 and 18 and would be devastated of this didn’t happen 😂

ShakespearesSisters · 17/10/2022 22:50

I got me, DH and DD1 and DD2 matching red tartan ones from morrisons last year. Then got next 2 sizes for the kids in the sale as they liked them. We will have them for years. Not Christmas, just cosy.
My only proper Christmas matching pj's were from b&m about 5 years ago. Shrunk so badly in the wash DH's bottoms came half way up his legs and the top showed his belly button. We couldn't stop laughing.
They got passed on to some shorter people.

JessesMum777888 · 17/10/2022 22:51

Might just do it to see my sons reaction to having the same pyjamas as his 3 sisters and parents. Think he would rather drink bleach to be honest.

IHateWasps · 17/10/2022 22:52

I'm also a grumpy bastard but you're entirely right.

LivesinLondon2000 · 17/10/2022 22:52

No never. Fine if you wear them the rest of the year but I just couldn’t face wearing Christmas pyjamas anytime other than the lead up to Christmas.
