Do you buy new matching family Christmas pj’s every year?

Used to buy the kids matching Pj's, when really little they were Xmas ones and we passed them on as they would grow out of them so quickly. As they got older we would just buy them new Xmas eve pj's but not necessarily Xmas themed ones, they are teens so often they fit all year at the minimum. I was definitely more wasteful when they were little but always passed stuff on to friends etc.

littleburn · 17/10/2022 22:17

No

Whereisthehugeteddybear · 17/10/2022 22:17

No, we don't all wear pjs anyway. DH would look at me as if I was bananas if I suggested he wore anything a) christmassy and b) matching to anyone else!

Yes we do! But we wear them ALL year round until they grow out of them and me and DH all the time. He's still got some from 7 years ago that he wears regularly!

As for only doing it for Instagram. Well neither of us have Instagram and no one knows we do it expect us! It's just for us and a bit of fun for the kids.

PugInTheHouse · 17/10/2022 22:19

I put wrapped up pj's on everyone's pillow (including mine) on Xmas eve from Santa, I can't imagine how awful it would be for the kids to have matching pj's to us 😂 the kids are 14 and 16 so would be mortified. They still keep reminding me that it's me who puts them there and I of course insist it's not lol.

Colderthanever · 17/10/2022 22:19

God no, such a waste of money and so twee I can’t get my head round it 😂

EndlessMagpies · 17/10/2022 22:20

No.

bigfamilygrowingupfast · 17/10/2022 22:23

No, me and my partner have tartan ones that we wear year round, and then I just buy the next size up for my eldest each year for a Christmas eve present 🤣 and then hers are hand me downs for the younger ones. They aren't fully matching but it's nice for Christmas Eve

HappyBinosaur · 17/10/2022 22:24

I’ve done this a couple of times over the past few years but certainly not every year as it’s so expensive!
I have actually bought us matching Christmas t-shirts this year for the first time 🤣
It’s cheesy but I also think it’s fun (even for the teenagers!) and we are a Christmas loving family.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/10/2022 22:25

No. I’m the only one in this house who ever wears a matching set of pj’s. DH and ds1 wear pants to bed and ds2 doesn’t care if the top and bottom match.

I can’t think of a bigger waste of time, resources and money tbh, well I probably could but this is up there!

murasaki · 17/10/2022 22:26

Wasteful and unbelievably naff.

Snugglemonkey · 17/10/2022 22:27

Yes. Our elves leave them wrapped for everyone in the Christmas Eve box.

PaisleyP · 17/10/2022 22:28

I do but I love pyjamas and think they are probably the only items of clothing I can relax in. I don't buy them all year round but at Christmas I do treat us all too new ones.
It's sort of become a tradition now I guess like socks in a stocking.
I don't take pics of us in them though and post them online. Feels a bit much all of that!

😂😂😂

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 17/10/2022 22:29

Nope.... don’t wear pjs anyway so would be a waste...
I sometimes buy dc matching ones at Christmas, but that’s usually if I can’t find separate ones I like.

hellosunshineagainxxx · 17/10/2022 22:30

I do for me and my son but its the only xmas thing we do, we don't do xmas eve boxes etc and I buy them in Nov and we wear them until they are too small, just make sure they are the ones we wear xmas eve too.

CardiffMam · 17/10/2022 22:30

No, of course not. That would be incredibly wasteful.

Same

Whowouldgoallthatwayforarobbieconcert · 17/10/2022 22:31

Yes 😂totally cringe I know, but my little girl loves it, I love pyjamas and we wear them all year round afterwards anyway. Dh cringes, but then laughs

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 17/10/2022 22:31

No but dd1 has now grown out of the ones we bought 3 years ago for fun so she will need new this year!

Bigslippers · 17/10/2022 22:32

No I find it a bit twee unless all the family are into singing carols around the piano at Christmas Eve.

PaisleyP · 17/10/2022 22:33

@Bigslippers Oh I'd love all of that. but unfortunately No piano, No one can sing or hold a tune, My kids and DH would probably ask me to leave the home 🥲

Mrsmch123 · 17/10/2022 22:34

Yip I bin them after Xmas🙈

RaininSummer · 17/10/2022 22:35

Nope never.

IHateWasps · 17/10/2022 22:35

I honestly have nightmares about the thought of going to someone's house and them doing just that. I know it's unlikely but it makes me shudder.
