Jeremy Hunt

LexMitior · 14/10/2022 13:59

She has lost total control of everything- they are getting the next one ready to roll in. And, the membership are not getting a vote on it. Idiots

OceanbreezeSun · 14/10/2022 14:01

What an embarrassment the Tory party is.

TheLeadbetterLife · 14/10/2022 14:01

LadyApplejack · 14/10/2022 13:34

Absolutely friggin ridiculous. Johnson gets a whopping majority. Tory MPs and media hound him out, with no decent candidates lined up. Truss is voted in, carries out the plans she said she'd implement. She gets hounded out. General election results in a shite Labour govt nearly by default, who are also not going to be able to resolve a post-Covid/war-afflicted knackered economy. So depressing.

Johnson was the architect of his own demise. It's not like he was "hounded out" for nothing. This shitshow started back in 2016, and Johnson was a big part of that too. He also was the leader who booted out all the half-decent Tory MPs for not backing Brexit. They lost their seats and all that's left are the ERG and Red Wall lot, who are incompetent nutters to a man.

Goingforarun · 14/10/2022 14:01

How many said ‘no’ before Hunt said ‘yes’

LadyFarquinMark · 14/10/2022 14:02

Yup, great. With Jeremyc Hunt in charge, the economy will now be following the NHS down the pan. At least it won't be for long hopefully if Liz gets sacked soon too.

Hmmph · 14/10/2022 14:02

Yes, Jeremy *unt is worse than Kwasi. Sad

catandcoffee · 14/10/2022 14:04

I don't understand a massive amount about politics BUT isn't a Country unstable if their Government are ...well crap ...like this lot are ?

Boy am I looking forward to watching Have I Got News For You tonight.
BBC1 9pm“

found it disappointing last week. So tame.
suspect the BBC powers that be have been issuing edicts.

LexMitior · 14/10/2022 14:05

@LadyApplejack - he had it in his hand and he messed up. Great campaigner, political loser.

Truss is the same. Great campaigner for Tories, but a massive political loser.

The Tories won't recover until they realise they need some friends. And get some. The market is bigger than government. Likewise the media and civil service. These Tories are morons who throw their weight about and then see nobody has to listen to them.

theworldhas · 14/10/2022 14:12

Only 775 days (ish) until a General Election! Imagine the state the UK will be in two years from now! 😀

theworldhas · 14/10/2022 14:13

Every extra day the Tories are in power the economy sinks a little more, as no one in their right mind will be investing here.

Brokendaughter · 14/10/2022 14:14

At this stage, I'll put my 12 year old forward & he'd be the better candidate.

I hope the tories don't think people believe they have any skills at financial management other than siphoning off money into the pockets of their mates.

They leave people starving because the state overpaid them for a few months years before by a few pounds, but I never see the money paid for e.g. rip off contracts for useless face masks etc.. being clawed back.

Cheminaufaules · 14/10/2022 14:17

My old bicycle pump and some lint from under the bed?

fromdownwest · 14/10/2022 14:18

If Labour can not waltz into power after this absolute sh*t storm of a party, then the party should be disbanded!!

If it were not so depressing it would be comical.

balalake · 14/10/2022 14:18

@MrsSkylerWhite · it is recorded yesterday, so this is too late for satire.

@Brokendaughter I am 100% confident your child would be.

Dave20 · 14/10/2022 14:24

If hedge funds managers had crashed the economy even half as much as Kwerteng did , they’d be sent to prison.

Mischance · 14/10/2022 14:24

What a challenge for the new king - a total shambles of a government and he has to be polite to Truss every week.

What a total embarrassing mess it all is - our international standing is down the pan completely. Head in hands!

LadyApplejack · 14/10/2022 14:26

@LexMitior anyone would have struggled to win fans during the pandemic. I criticized him bigtime but that 2019 election result was as decisive as we'll ever have, and rather than be pressured by MPs into resignation, Johnson should have called a GE last year and put the leadership matter to bed one way or another. The leadership race was a farce, events since have been totally destabilizing, and beyond pointless.

I'm sure Labour will be in next, and no amount of "friends" is going to magically turn this one around. I'd dearly love to be wrong!

LexMitior · 14/10/2022 14:27

Global Britain = international laughing stock

Since 2016 the Tories have spent a huge amount of goodwill and our soft power. They have trodden on any expertise that said otherwise.

The people who vote for this incompetence need to look clearly at what sort of country they want. One Nation Toryism has been dead for years.

Sixsmith · 14/10/2022 12:47

Kwasi should have stayed under the sea with the rest of the Octonauts. A cat has not business being chancellor

My favourite post of the day 😂

he went up in my estimation when he was picked up on mic greeting her at her audience with “dear, oh dear ……. anyway”

LexMitior · 14/10/2022 14:30

@LadyApplejack - both Johnson and Truss have the same flaw. They think they can act quickly and just bang the table like a tin pot dictator. The pandemic hid the issues but a lot of what is coming out now is old Johnson policy which was never advanced due to the pandemic.

Both are rubbish. Johnson had charisma. But a total loser as a leader like Truss

BrightYellowDaffodil · 14/10/2022 14:33

@EndlessMagpies You'll have to wait until next week I'm afraid, if I remember correctly HIGNFY is recorded on a Thursday, as is R4's News Quiz.

RedAppleGirl · 14/10/2022 14:33

Tbh I think the Torys need to call a GE. The machinations from the media and the general public via social media are relentless and the party themselves are not unified. A new head and chancellor going within such a short space of time is absurd.
They need to go.
I honestly believe Labour will not make a jot of a difference other than the fact at least we'll have a stable party and government all singing from the same hymn sheet.
Labour doesn't have a secret stash of:
Energy.
Manpower for public infrastructure projects.
Public spending money.
Pensions.
Money for raising min wage.
Money for paying people's mortgages.
Etc, etc.

Whilst under lockdown and people were being given free money the noise surrounding the government was relatively quiet. Now post covid, the gen pop is just tempestous.
As I mentioned earlier in another post, the world doesn't revolve around 50p fishfingers, bread, or UC claimants. People like to criticize governments for being short-sighted. Yet opinions from the gen pop are myopic.
