It's a fair question as it just seems so outrageously bizarre. Almost spoof like. You almost just can't believe it. I was asking myself that question watching the vid.

Likewise. Is there a way of finding out if it is actually true.

JacquelinePot · 05/10/2022 13:05

How can this possibly be real? This is absolutely insane

bingbummy · 05/10/2022 13:06

This makes no sense. Even if they are claiming damage, what duty of care did she breach? (essential to sue for the a tort) how did she breach it?

She has a petition on change dot org.
search for 'help me show a judge that disabled people aren't scary'

Thanks for this - I’ve signed and shared the petition.

Sorry, pressed enter too soon.

I think the other side a attempting to reduce to absurdity postmodernist Theory/trans ideology. Imagine what the judgement will look like. It has the potential to undermine trans policy in Ireland.

However, there's no excuse for causing this woman to suffer in this way (unless she's in on it, of course).

Sorry I might have misunderstood you, how is this to do with trans people? Who I fully support btw x

mumda · 05/10/2022 13:08

If it goes to court, then I hope the court access to the public gallery is very disabled friendly.

lindyloo57 · 05/10/2022 13:09

The world gone mad, it shouldn't even reach court

TrigTri · 05/10/2022 13:09

Which group is funding the nutters for their legal fees?

Mothership4two · 05/10/2022 13:10

Is there any reliable platforms where this has been reported? Cannot find anything from Irish newspapers etc

honeylulu · 05/10/2022 13:10

This is so astonishing I thought at first it must be a hoax.

It also just occurred to me that if the guest now has a mental illness as severe as they claim, surely they are now themselves disabled. What are they going to do? Avoid themselves? How does that work in their "culture"?

ChonkyDonkey · 05/10/2022 13:11

She has touched on 'The Reasonable Person Test' and how Self ID has been introduced into the proceedings.

EspressoPatronumm · 05/10/2022 13:12

The worst thing about this whole situation is she has used her disability to understand that different people need different sensory aids, and 3d prints sensory lights or aids and you can design your own 3d light when you stay there. She has a website where you can buy them and they're honestly brilliant and absolute pennies too, she said she wanted to make sensory aids available for everyone and she really means it. She's such an inspiration i can't actually believe that she's being sued

I can’t find anything..

On another note this is now starting to be blamed on ‘Anti Trans’ 🧐

Underanothersky · 05/10/2022 13:15

I don't understand how this could be related to self ID?

EspressoPatronumm · 05/10/2022 13:16

@Mothership4two it's only just being picked up by the main pages on social media it's been going on since July though. I expect the mail et al will run with it soon!

TellingBone · 05/10/2022 13:17

My previous post automatically hidden by the looks of it, perhaps because I mentioned the website.

Am unable to view the videos at the moment, and was asking if there is any evidence that this woman is actually being sued?

orbitalcrisis · 05/10/2022 13:17

Before they sued, it was reported here:

Naunet · 05/10/2022 13:19

Wow. The people doing this are absolute low life scum. Unbelievable.

TellingBone · 05/10/2022 13:19

Thanks @orbitalcrisis

Again though, they are reporting her claims only. No evidence of any court actions.

UnderCoverFieldAgent · 05/10/2022 13:21

This is so awful. I really hope it’s a sensible Judge and not one of the woke idiots wanting to make a name for themselves. The fact that they wouldn’t leave and then checked out late must show that they weren’t that bothered. Otherwise they’d have left ASAP, especially with the offer of a free hotel room.

Ah so basically their self ID mental health issues take precedence over her actual disability.

Is this someone insane trying to rip away the equality act or some one trying to hit the reset button?

seetzeros · 05/10/2022 13:23

What ARE the group who are funding the couple to run with this legal action?

humblesims · 05/10/2022 13:23

I've been following this too. It was bad enough at the start but has just grown in it's absurdity. Thing is though...they picked on the wrong girl. She is not rolling over and taking it. She is putting it out there for everyone to see and good on her. It is being picked up everywhere now and she has an enormous amount of support (obviously). The guests and whoever is funding them are total low life of course but more importantly it is shining a light on the lack of care and humanity with large corporations such as AirBnB who dont seem to give a shit. They need to be hit where it hurts.

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/10/2022 13:23

So@ChonkyDonkey - apparently the "guests" self-identify as having a particular mental health condition (which isn't medically recognised), but that's OK because they don't accept the authority of medical recognition/definition/criteria anyway so the fact that in the "non-guest" world it doesn't exist means they can ignore it because they don't accept it - is that right? (It's very confusing).

And also because they self-identify as having this completely self-diagnosed condition which medical science doesn't recognise the existence of, then she should pay up, because they will win because (apparently) there is legal precedent which states that self-identified conditions - any self-identified conditions - are top trumps and over-ride medically affirmed ones based on evidence and facts.

I apologise if I've picked this up the wrong way from the link you kindly provided, but this is what it sounded like.

How the heck did we get to this batsh*t state in this country?
