A woman is being sued for being disabled

Seriously the world has gone mad - a woman who is disabled is being sued by her air B and B guests for triggering them.

To take it at absolute face value (ignoring the madness of their claims) people with physical disabilities have to enquire of rental properties whether they are suitable for their needs - stairs, steps, level changes, parking etc. So if someone suffers from a mental health condition whereby they we triggered by disabled people, they need to make comparable enquiries to ensure the property is appropriate.

She’s not in the USA. I think she’s in Ireland (anyway she talks about Euros when talking about money)

So this was people paying to stay in her home but there was no way to get them out?

Oh is it Ireland? I shared it with my MP but I guess they won’t be much help in that case! It is really despicable to put her through this. I suspect she is right that she is merely collateral damage in eroding the law though.

I thought I was unshockable by now, but this?! It beggars belief. These despicable 'guests' deserve all they have coming to them and Airbnb should be ashamed for their disgraceful response.

Flowers to all people reading this with disabilities and with loved ones with disabilities. You're never the problem.

Who is even humouring these people to say yes, you have grounds to complain? What happens when they leave their house and they see a kid with CP or an old guy with an amputed leg or a woman with DS?? Do they call the police and demand they're removed?

Shame she didn't call the Police. I'm struggling to accept this is real.

  1. Air B&B enabled their behaviour. Told her to pay them for a fancy hotel and when they didn't want the hotel, air B&B told her to get out of her home.
  1. She's not in the USA.

It all sounds very bad but I do think that she needs to be careful about postings to social media, and people here need to be cautious about what they say. If this is a case before the courts, she could get into trouble for discussing it like this; and it would be tragic to prejudice her own case by saying something that she shouldn't.

I have been following this. I think it’s highly likely she was deliberately targeted knowing she was disabled when they booked the room. It is absolutely disgusting they are able to do this.

I believe she has had legal advice and is only sharing the information she has been advised she can share, there’s lots she isn’t sharing on legal advice.
