I’ve seen a few of her videos on TT. It’s bonkers! They are objecting to staying in a place that has disability aids - as if using an item means you are going to catch her disability.
What horrible people & AirBnB have been awful apparently.
Poor woman.

averageavocado · 05/10/2022 10:08

are there any non video links?

Newnamefor2021 · 05/10/2022 10:19

I follow her on TikTok from the beginning of this saga. It’s just so ridiculous. They are wanting thousands for treatments because her disability aids triggered them. She even offered to pay for their hotel so they didn’t have to be around her but they demanded she leave her home and when she pointed out this wasn’t feasible due to her terminal illness air B&B told her she needed to stay one room not to trigger them further.

its absolutely crazy and their demands make them look insane. It will be interesting to know who the campaign group that are funding this are.

What the actual fuck?

EscapeTheCastle · 05/10/2022 10:31

OMG. I can't believe it, I thought it would be in the crazy USA where people sue over anything. I feel very angry for this lady.

shipwreckedonhighseas · 05/10/2022 10:32

Shocking

I've seen this. I think its terrible, they're going after a woman whose terminally ill, to try and force the laws around disabled individuals changed. I wish she could identify those suing her, they deserve whatever comes to them.

butterfliedtwo · 05/10/2022 10:38

WTAF

FallSky · 05/10/2022 10:38

What exactly are they suing her for?

She has a petition on change dot org.
search for 'help me show a judge that disabled people aren't scary'

Well done, I didn't realise that MNHQ won't allow links. Although not entirely sure why but I'll now go and read the Ts and Cs.

ILoveYoga · 05/10/2022 10:46

I saw this too. I’m definitely not going to use Airbnb anymore. It is not just this, but this is a massive stick that broke the camel’s back. Airbnb have become far too difficult to use and down right uncaring/unreasonable in their policies.

going to look for the petition now.

I think there needs to be local legislation about protecting disabled people and to make this type of discrimination and issue so that Airbnb needs to obey common sense legislation in order to operate in the jurisdiction.

ILoveYoga · 05/10/2022 10:47

Forgot to add, this is one story I do hope major news outlets pick up and blast everywhere. A name and shame of those “guests” too.

Rosehugger · 05/10/2022 10:52

I don't see what this has to do with AirBnb. It has everything to do with how bonkers and broken the USA is.

Owlsinmybedroom · 05/10/2022 10:52

FallSky · 05/10/2022 10:38

What exactly are they suing her for?

Apparently she should compensate them a significant amount of money because being around a disabled person has triggered their self diagnosed mental health issues

Essentially she has to pay them to apologise for being disabled because it upset them

Its an attack on the equalities act and an attack against protected characteristics as part of an ongoing era of trying to reduce hard won rights in the UK. I am hoping she gets a sensible judge who doesn't have a political agenda.

Rosehugger · 05/10/2022 10:53

It won't even get to court. Ther's no cause of action.

Isaidnoalready · 05/10/2022 10:54

FallSky · 05/10/2022 10:38

What exactly are they suing her for?

A life changing sum of money because they stayed in a home with a disabled person they were "triggered" by her disability but refused to leave and go to a hotel (that she offered to refund there money and paynthe difference for) they tried to have her put out of her home she had to stay in her kitchen overnight they are demanding compensation for over thirty hours of therapies a week for the next ten years she lists all of them on her YouTube channel AIRBNB have asked for a list of items she has purchased because they claim if she bought it that makes it a disability aid so things such as small milk small cereals a mini fridge etc etc they challenged her cleaning costs because they claim as a disabled person she gets carers therfore cleaning is free so they shouldn't be charged for her cleaning fees there are rumours they assaulted her (she can't discuss that) Airbnb were useless the safety team never really got back to her after telling her to leave and her saying that's not possible with all my medical equipment etc she wasn't safe

Look up "this world can be accessible"

PloddyPop · 05/10/2022 10:54

I keep writing a response and deleting it as I don't fancy a ban
Despicable people I hope they are utterly ashamed of themselves

Rosehugger · 05/10/2022 10:55

They are ridiculous, it won't get anywhere.

alloalloallo · 05/10/2022 10:56

I’ve been following her on TikTok too.

Its absolutely bonkers that anyone is entertaining it.

She has said that there are news outlets interested in running the story but she’s waiting for the legal papers to be filed as they’re then in the public domain.

This case is in Ireland

KitchiHuritAngeni · 05/10/2022 10:59

I follow her too.

The 'treatments' these people are getting is reiki to cleanse their auras because in their culture they aren't allowed to be around disabled people apparently.

She knows full well if (when) she wins they will just wait it out until she dies so they don't have to pay compensation.

Rosehugger · 05/10/2022 11:00

I repeat, it won't get anywhere.
