Typo WHO are the group funding the guests legal action? She says she can’t name them in one of the clips…

Yesthatismychildsigh · 05/10/2022 13:24

What shitty, shitty, scummy people. I truly hope they’re named and shamed and hounded.

lljkk · 05/10/2022 13:24

I can't get hear sound on video. Is there a statement from AirBnB somewhere? I imagine it's like eBay, buyer is always right.

My dd has autism and is hyperempathic and so she feels very deeply for other people's disabiities. It is all documented and recognised by the professionals involved. She is triggered by people with obvious disabilities in so far as it causes her a lot of distress and she has fainted and vomited previously because she has been so overwhelmed but she and we completely accept that she has the problem so we would leave and have left any area where she felt unable to cope as discreetly as possible. She wouldn't be triggered or even comment on disability aids.
Those suing in the clip sound like shysters after making some money.

I’m really sorry your DD has autism and the problems that can come with it but she obviously doesn’t have hyper empathy because you just described the opposite.
Hyper empathy is when you care so deeply that you almost feel the same as the person you are empathising with. I know because I have it.
The only reason people vomit when they see something is because they are disgusted not because they are caring.
You just described that your DD faints, vomits and gets so distressed you have to leave.
I’m really not saying she’s a bad person as she of course has autism , which I assume effects her though process, but that’s not hyper empathy that’s ‘being triggered’ by ‘obvious disabilities’. That’s the complete opposite of how I feel when I see others with severe physical disabilities.

I don't understand how this could be related to self ID?

If you follow @ChonkyDonkey 's link it explains it. They are self-identifying a unique mental health condition, it seems.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 05/10/2022 13:25

Even though its likley to be laughed out of court, the suffering they've caused this poor woman is reason enough to surely charge them for hate crime or harassment? I'm gobsmacked.

lljkk · 05/10/2022 13:26

ps: I found this, but it's from July 2022.

Untitledsquatboulder · 05/10/2022 12:39

So is this really about disability discrimination or is it a challenge to Irelands laws around trans issues?

Sorry, how this is relative to the trans community x

Exactly the process is the punishment.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/10/2022 13:29

Disgusting.

My Dad was disabled with MS and had to have a hoist to get in and out of bed. A few years after he died we stayed in an apartment where the owner living downstairs also used a hoist for the same reason. I couldn't deal with it, it brought back too many memories, especially when we were woke up by it every night in the same way I was when I lived at home. It was my issue and so we left. It wouldn't even have occurred to me to blame the poor woman. I felt bad enough leaving early!

Doingprettywellthanks · 05/10/2022 13:30

There will be so much more to this story

that definitely doesn’t do the supposed victim any favours whatsoever

MissTibbs · 05/10/2022 13:31

This is horrific. I so wish she was allowed to name the political funders of this action against her though I am pretty certain I know which it is.
This lady is so brave to continue this fight, while she is terminaly ill, she is fighting for all of us who are disabled.
MrsPear this woman salutes you. To any who think this is just USA, the attacks on the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998 are ongoing here in the UK. In my area the latest attack is on the right of access to education post age 11.

orbitalcrisis · 05/10/2022 13:32

@hiredandsqueak Ignore the hyperempathetic woman who's so empathetic she knows that the only the correct way to do empathy is the way she does it!

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:32

Hugocat1 · 05/10/2022 12:57

I agree. ‘Anti Trans’ really means women concerned about sex based rights. No way in hell would women be doing this.

I really do think this was staged and an attack on the equality act dragging this poor women with not ling left to live with it.

Despicable

Wow , what a joke. Anti-trans definitely does not mean women concerned about sex based rights 🤦‍♀️ it means bigotry

capricorn12 · 05/10/2022 13:32

Bloody hell what's next? What if people start claiming to have a mental health issue that means they're triggered by black people/ old people/ fat people/ people with freckles? This bollocks needs stamping on a.s.a.p.

Booklover3 · 05/10/2022 13:33

That’s absolutely ridiculous. I feel very sorry for the lady in question. I hope they are laughed out of court for their audacity.

seetzeros · 05/10/2022 13:34

So basically a lobby group (who?) have purposely selected Jade (AirBnB lady) to make a broader political point? Either planting the ‘guests’ to engineer this situation or picking up the case to support a broader political agenda?

Etak123 · 05/10/2022 13:36

UnderCoverFieldAgent · 05/10/2022 13:21

This is so awful. I really hope it’s a sensible Judge and not one of the woke idiots wanting to make a name for themselves. The fact that they wouldn’t leave and then checked out late must show that they weren’t that bothered. Otherwise they’d have left ASAP, especially with the offer of a free hotel room.

Maybe you should look up the meaning of woke

AlwaysGinPlease · 05/10/2022 13:37

@Doingprettywellthanks 🙄

What are you suggesting? 🤔

Soubriquet · 05/10/2022 13:38

I cannot believe I’m reading this. Seriously. It’s ridiculous and should never have been entertained.

Air B&B needs to apologise
This poor woman needs an apology

The cheeky fuckers need to grow the fuck up

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 05/10/2022 13:39

Thelnebriati · 05/10/2022 12:47

the wording of “hierarchy” and “identity”, and their being “anti-woke”, suggests that there might be an actual anti-trans agenda here?

No, its the rights of disabled people that are under attack here.
Its the support of self ID that has made it possible to bring the legal challenge.

Very true

It’s in Ireland x

Sorry, how this is relative to the trans community x

It's not related to trans people. Trans people may "self-identity" as a gender and the people in this case have self-diagnosed (or "self-identify") a mental illness.

But this is Mumsnet where it's impossible to have a thread on anything without it being blamed on trans people!

Not everything revolves around ‘trans’ - let’s try not derail the thread eh?

Erm no, I have the condition and vomiting is not empathetic, you think it is?
