Punch and Judy!

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 02/10/2022 19:54

Dr Who.
Cows.
Curtains (in the breeze).
Coming downstairs at night, particularly corridor style staircases with a door at the bottom of the stairs.

YumYummy · 02/10/2022 19:54

Men wearing women’s wigs and makeup.

FionnulaTheCooler · 02/10/2022 19:56

Return to Oz, specifically the headless girl.

Ventriloquist dummies 😬

Yes! There was a child tv show called Mike & Angelo that had a possessed one that came to life. I was terrified of it! A few years ago I found it on YouTube. Still terrifying 🙈

God I remember this show.
I think there was one particular episode where a girl got her hair caught in a swimming pool drain and almost drowned.
I'm always nervous around them when swimming.
Frightening stuff 😮

Fun fact: the hair episode was Water Palace in Croydon and my dad was one of the paramedics who went to her. It was a hot tub whirlpool type thing and it didn't have the correct filter on.

I was always desperate to go there as a child and my dad always made excuses not to take me. Once I was older he told me it was because of all the injuries and near drownings he and his friends attended there. It was shut down in the end because of safety concerns. One issue identified being that the floor was covered in wall tiles, hence all the head injuries.

Anyway, I watched an episode of 999 featuring a guy who fell down a lift shaft. Couldn't even get in a lift for years after it.

Another chilling one.... who remembers the BBC ident from the 90s.
Used to send shivers up my spine as a little kid.

Weeping angels,
The thought of the bath overflowing,
Going over backwards (front flips are absolutely fine 🤷‍♀️ )
Chocking,
Vomiting,
Sharks being in the swimming pool

Iwantamarshmallowman · 02/10/2022 19:58

David Bowie in labyrinth

tenbob · 02/10/2022 19:59

Being in the bath when the plug was taken out because my twat dad used to sing ‘the baby has gone down the plug hole’ to us and I thought it was a real threat

TheFormidableMrsC · 02/10/2022 20:00

Thunder and lightning. Thriller video. The film Friday the 13th. I only watched as I was staying with a friend and she was allowed. I would never have been allowed to watch that as a child.

IloveGogglebox · 02/10/2022 20:00

@TigerRag yes! I can watch any horror movie on my own not bothered but still at 41 I cannot watch Thriller
Glad I'm not the only one lol

Iwantamarshmallowman · 02/10/2022 20:00

...and trains

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 02/10/2022 20:00

Also when the TV channels used to go off air and do the spooky white noise thing.
24hour TV is a godsend!

Bittercup · 02/10/2022 20:01

Zelda in Terrahawks 😬

cliffdiver · 02/10/2022 20:01

The abominable snowman in Tintin.

Simonjt · 02/10/2022 20:02

My mother

The sound of water draining from the bath, near the end where it makes that horrid noise.

Slightly ajar doors in the dark.

purplecorkheart · 02/10/2022 20:03

Germlins (movie). Terrified me as a child, recently watched a clip and had nightmares for days.

wendywoopywoo222 · 02/10/2022 20:03

Anything voodoo after an episode of Starsky and Hutch.

Miggymoggymugwumps · 02/10/2022 20:03

The Singing Ringing Tree which was supposedly a children's TV programme I found it utterly terrifying... especially the dwarf.

ProperSorryFrown · 02/10/2022 20:04

The cat on the roof at the start of coronation st and the cows in the field at the start of Emmerdale. I'd scarper when I heard the music.

Oh, and the Moomins.

Fuuuuuckit · 02/10/2022 20:05

Cybermen
Triffids
Quicksand (I had a microscopically low chance of dying this way, but we used to have lots of days out in Morecambe)
Threat of chip pan fires. Still daren't deep fry anything. Ever.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 02/10/2022 20:05

Those things on wheels in the Wizard of Oz or return to Oz perhaps. Never watched either of them since

Georgeskitchen · 02/10/2022 20:05

Carry on screaming at the cinema when I was about 8. I didn't sleep for weeks 😱😱
