Another for 999 but not the theme tune. I was (still am) terrified of deep water, pot holing, driving behind trucks carrying scaffolding on the motorway incase of impaling and lots of other random freakish accidents.
I wish I'd never been allowed to watch it.

I always make sure aerosols aren't in the sun light after watching an episode where a girls house exploded due to the sun shining on her deodorant.

Jellykat · 02/10/2022 20:43

Ken Dodds diddymen!

DickeryDock · 02/10/2022 20:43

The BBC Ghostwatch programme they did at Halloween. My mum, sister and I were convinced it was real! I couldn’t sleep for ages after!

People keep mentioning the ghost in 3 men and a baby. If you watch it back you can see it’s actually a cardboard cut out of Ted Danson wearing a top hat!

Janedoe82 · 02/10/2022 20:43

The IRA

Harrystylestutu · 02/10/2022 20:44

Omg yes return to oz! The wheelies used to terrify me aswell as the woman that had all of those heads in cases. The electro shock therapy aswell.

and not now, but when I was younger I had a poster from smash hits magazine of the band 5ive on my wall and had to cover up Jay as I thought he looked terrifying with an eyebrow piercing 😂

QuestionableMouse · 02/10/2022 20:44

Clowns and people dressed up as mascots. Hate it!

My Gran lived in a big old house with a massive garden. The back door was glass top and bottom and I used to hate passing it after dark because I was 100% convinced that there would be a bear waiting to eat me.

Not much change of that, given she lived in the North East of England!

FindingMeno · 02/10/2022 20:45

The 'ghost' in Three Men and a Baby!

I came in to write this. From age 3/4/5 - 12 I was terrified. Still imagined him stood behind me up until a couple of years ago.

ilovepixie · 02/10/2022 20:49

Monsters under the bed.

quirkychick · 02/10/2022 20:49

@Inclinedtochatter there was a Sapphire and Steel episode where people were trapped in photographs, I must have been very young but it was terrifying!

Dr Who Cybermen in the 70s, the daleks not so much, but the Cybermen.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 02/10/2022 20:52

Monsters under the bed was the worst though

TrainspottingWelsh · 02/10/2022 20:53

My mother, water ship down and concealed holes. The latter because I was petrified a horse or deer would put a leg down and break it.
Horror films, ghosts and the dark etc never bothered me. I lived very rurally had a habit of playing outside/ going for walks in the dark. I remember when I was about 4/5 a babysitter being horrified and telling me wolves, bears and ghosts were in the woods at night and instead of scaring me it encouraged me.

ScottishLavender · 02/10/2022 20:53

Escalators, especially in London tube stations.
Absolutely petrified me. Still do tbh. I would rather use the stairs than the escalators.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 02/10/2022 20:54

Nope... can't do, sorry .

Supposed to be a picture of those giant Harland and Wolf overhead cranes.

There were so many on a freight port , near my home, in Dudley.

ThisIsNotAFlyingToy · 02/10/2022 19:27

Pylons.

Me too! I can remember my dad grabbing the bottom of one and pretending to be electrocuted, I must have been about 5 and was hysterical.
