Practicing through the night paid off

caminando · 19/09/2022 12:51

honestly, not really, but I'm watching the funeral on the side right now and it's already very exciting and emotional. I always wonder how the family, children, grandchildren, etc. must feel... they their grandma... that's something else than loosing the queen...

kindlyensure · 19/09/2022 12:51

Gosh don't be fooled by the 'sparse' crowds. There are green barriers up everywhere stopping people from joining the route and vast swathes of no-go areas.

Westminster Bridge is completely cut off with hoarding and barriers for example - in some of the pictures you can spot a mass of people behind them, not able to go through or see anything.

I live locally and there are hundreds of people wandering around trying to get near and thwarted at every turn. Unless you were there early early doors there's not a hope you'd get a space along the route.

DoubleShotEspresso · 19/09/2022 12:51

The camera work throughout this has been flawless...

I thought I saw lots of people not signing God Save the King!

I can't imagine Biden singing it, nor the other foreign leaders.

LetMeSpeak · 19/09/2022 12:51

Aren’t they’re legs tired ?

BeyondApproach · 19/09/2022 12:52

Is the funeral ceremony over?

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 12:52

JustLyra · 19/09/2022 12:50

Only Sophie and Meghan in car two and only the York Princesses in car three.

Yes I just saw that

I guess the others must travel separately to wherever this is going. I know it eventually gets to a cortège to Windsor. But maybe the family go for a reception/cup of tea/lunch before they have to go on to the next bit

Do you mean with the gun carriage? The ones behind are holding onto ropes of some kind to act as brakes as the carriage has none, if thats who you meant

It's the ones at the front I noticed

Spectacular sight.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2022 12:52

Random question, why are the sailors holding hands?

I assume it's some kind of "brace". Their other hand is holding onto whatever pulls the carriage.

I didnt see those, interested to know too!

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 12:53

Now the bloody clapping..

Roussette · 19/09/2022 12:53

Are they marching to Windsor? (joke!)

I do wonder what is going through the little heads of George and Charlotte. It's hardly going to have dawned on them today that they are very important people. It must be a struggle to understand.

TugboatAnnie · 19/09/2022 12:53

Is there another car with Zara, Louise and James? They haven't shown it

StClare101 · 19/09/2022 12:53

over2021 · 19/09/2022 12:31

Why do people go out to watch it through their fucking phones screens? If you want to watch it on a screen stay at home- the gravity must be completely lost on those worrying so much about holding their phone up to film the ongoings constantly.

I wish I'd gone up- it doesn't look as busy as I'd expected it to be.

We just said the same thing. Utterly ridiculous behaviour!

LetMeSpeak · 19/09/2022 12:53

So why aren’t any of the ladies apart from Anne allowed to walk behind the coffin?

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 12:53

Those flowers are wilting a bit now :(
It's been a long morning for everyone involved.

TimBoothseyes · 19/09/2022 12:53

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/09/2022 12:50

So is to help them keep in step with each other / balance the load as with the men carrying the coffin arms around shoulders?

Yes and also to minimize the risk of hands slipping from the bar they are holding onto to pull the carriage.

Supercal00 · 19/09/2022 12:53

Going by the statues of he parents is quite a moment

DillonPanthersTexas · 19/09/2022 12:53

LIZS · 19/09/2022 12:50

It seems to have some sort of support from underneath, like the crown and the sceptre has brackets

Well now my respect for them has completely gone.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 12:53

I've missed how the gun carriage is actually moving!
Are people pulling it?

LetMeSpeak · 19/09/2022 12:53

Awww the Queens mother 😭

Supercal00 · 19/09/2022 12:53

*her

TheIsaacs · 19/09/2022 12:54

I wonder whether Beatrice is in a car joined by Eugenia, as she is now a counsellor of state to the King.
