Earl Spencer and Jackie Stewart are at Windsor

ShowMeYourMethod · 19/09/2022 14:12

Anyone watching the red button?

What do you think is in those two blue cool boxes being carefully escorted through the grounds? A few sausage rolls and fruit shoots for the kids?

And that plastic tool box?

Random thought that popped into my head during the service, some nutter could crash a plane into Westminster Abbey right now and take out pretty much all the leaders of the world and the Royal Family.

There's a no fly zone imposed, so any flight entering the no fly zone will get intercepted.

Missed the first thread.
I thought it was beautifully done. At the beginning of the procession with the bagpipes and beat of the drums I found so moving. Everyone knew their role and without fuss did it so professionally. I felt proud to be British today.

I too thought it was beautifully done and was very moving, but it doesn’t make me feel proud to be British.

caz114 · 19/09/2022 14:12

I think it is cross typed blood in case of an emergency.

I cannot stand all the marching about in uniform - I know it's all very colourful, but it has such a military air - wouldn't want anything like that at my funeral.

Don't worry, I doubt you're in any danger!

BruceAndNosh · 19/09/2022 14:13

I wonder will it same same hearers at Windsor?

Anywhereelse · 19/09/2022 14:13

What’s with two lots of people in the crowd shouting ‘hip hip hooray’ repeatedly as the hearse passed them? I’ve been to quite a few funerals and never had anyone shout this as the coffin passes them down the aisle. If you did this at someone’s funeral you might find someone decking you one..so inappropriate and crass.

If you can’t think of anything to say then say nothing.

Be shot down before that happened

I also wondered what was in the blue cool boxes! Perhaps taking snacks to some people on duty.

I really hope there is some lunch in the car for Anne and Tim, since they're missing the buffet at the castle. Finger snacks they can discreetly pop in their mouths as they go along. Nothing that might drip on their clothes!

LakieLady · 19/09/2022 14:15

jennakong · 19/09/2022 13:46

Seriously - when do they get to have a glass of water, cup of tea, biscuit or comfort break? This is a long drawn-out affair and none of them are spring chickens.

They may have had a thermos of tea or coffee tucked away in the limos so they could grab a cuppa while on that flyover section of road, but they haven't had a chance for a wee since before they set off this morning.

No way could I go that long without a pee. Maybe they've all had themselves catheterised for the day?

It's cross typed blood in case of an emergency- although I'd rather it was marmalade butties.

I don't have very strong views on the RF either way, but I'm glad I watched today.

I don't think there are enough words to do justice to the organisation and precision that has gone into everything. Just spectacular.

And Anne and Charles have been beyond amazing. Dedication personified.

I really hope everyone involved, from top to bottom, gets the rest and peace they need.

Yep…

Been a few above normal restrictions on flights into the lower level airspace over and around central London for a few days now and the restrictions are even tighter today ….

It’s only three hours! Plus a bit to get to Windsor. I’m a middle-aged woman and that wouldn’t cross my mind as a concern. Perhaps they’re wearing Tena pants if need be.

I regularly go for hours without a need to pee due to my work, and that I work in the community without regular access to a toilet.

I normally have a we at 7am and then I don't wee again till about 5:30pm. However I also don't drink or take on any fluids during this time. So I'm just basically mildly dehydrated for 8-9 hours a day 😂

GoodbyeLilibet · 19/09/2022 14:18

I've always thought I'd like a Dynasty-style funeral. Guests in huge hats, veils, mini-skirts, unsuitable low cut tops, designer sunglasses. Showdowns, gatecrashers, catfights. At least two people falling into an empty grave.

Quite understand however that this would not have been right for HM.

uhtredbebbanburg · 19/09/2022 14:19

This has been so lovely. I’m in Edinburgh and I’m so glad we had our time with her. But London! Wow. You know how to do this. Now it’s lovely to see all the people lining the streets.

HoneyFlowers · 19/09/2022 14:22

I wondered that too, what if the younger children needed a wee, what would they do? It's been a long day so far.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2022 14:22

Are the people still in the abbey?
I'm watching on red button

RaraRachael · 19/09/2022 14:22

I thought it was a lovely service. I'm very much into the musical aspect of if and OH is ex foces so we both enjoyed it very much.
Well done to all concerned.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 14:23

Earl Spencer, where?

I've often wondered how close that side are to William and Harry.

caz114 · 19/09/2022 14:24

@ purpleme12
I think that we are seeing inside the chapel at Windsor where they are awaiting the hearse.

Christmascaroll · 19/09/2022 14:24

I know that Princess Anne is in the first car with her behind the hearse but where's the rest of the Royal Family?

Mamamia7962 · 19/09/2022 14:25

The royal family aren't travelling with the hearse now, they will be at Windsor later for the service.
