I loved the flowers that were on the coffin.

I have thought that Charles & Anne have seemed quite close through this.

I thought they were lovely too. I did briefly wonder if they ought to match more with the red and gold of the standard, but I put that thought quickly out of my head.

It’s not that long, though, three hours, and less if you count from the actual service. And London to Windsor isn’t far, especially if roads are cleared for you.

yeah I suppose, but I bet she's been in procession position since before 10am, and it'll be a long slow procession to Windsor at the pace they're going, even if it's not far! Hopefully at least then she'll get to go inside for a bit, but there probably will be more processions and receptions and all that once they get there

caz114 · 19/09/2022 14:00

There will be uninterupted coverage of the journey on red button and the arrival- then I think there is a break for everyone to eat before TV coverage seems to restart at 5pm.

BruceAndNosh · 19/09/2022 14:00

It's amazing how quickly you can get from Central London to Hammersmith Bridge if there's no traffic!

DamnUserName21 · 19/09/2022 14:01

Lovely service. The choir was beautiful. Loved the bagpipes and drums throughout.
I do feel that the public should have been able to view the congregation of the parade at Wellington Arch where the QE2 was placed in the hearst.

I don't know--I have such mixed feelings about it all. Sadness and pride yet also I fully recognise it's such anachronistic elitism and privilege that is being honoured/revered.

caz114 · 19/09/2022 14:02

Wow the crowds are huge!

KimberleyClark · 19/09/2022 14:02

Hope I won’t get jumped on for this. I thoroughly enjoyed the service. But I thought the procession post service went on a bit too long.

The bearer party were fabulous.

”Bearer party, to the pub quick March! Bearer party, by the right, raise tankard! Bearer party, in one, down pint!” Well done lads, you did her proud.

Have they finished, or do they still have Windsor to do?

JustLyra · 19/09/2022 12:35

Yes. Sophie and Meghan are in the second car

Atmos looked a bit frosty in that car! Both staring out their respective side.

GeorgeorRuth · 19/09/2022 14:03

People throwing flowers..they could be throwing anything, I imagine the security services are having kittens!

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 14:03

Interesting comments from Alan Titchmarsh re. the wreath, didnt realize there were Oak leaves in there

RaraRachael · 19/09/2022 14:03

Oh do stop the ridiculous flower throwing 🙄

Mischance · 19/09/2022 14:03

I cannot stand all the marching about in uniform - I know it's all very colourful, but it has such a military air - wouldn't want anything like that at my funeral.

I think they probably do have Windsor to do, yes. They really do deserve that pint though….

The anthem at the end got me. And I say that as a definite Republican.

It was the lone bagpiper that got me.

Me too. It’s called “ Sleep, Dearie , Sleep “. 🥲🥲

Half of MN seem to never use a toilet outside their own house, so would not find this at all unusual. They must have much better pelvic floors than me!

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 14:05

Agree re flowers!

Well, unless you're head of state and head of the armed forces, there won't be.

RAFOfficer · 19/09/2022 14:07

@Mischance the Sovereign is the head of the Armed Forces, and the Queen felt particularly strongly about her troops so there’s no way we wouldn’t have had a significant part to play. Hopefully each of us get the funeral we’d want.

But it’s a chance for those lining the road to see, if only few a moments. It’s not really for those watching on TV.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 14:09

😂

Andante57 · 19/09/2022 14:09

wouldn't want anything like that at my funeral.

Don't worry - not a chance of that happening.

TheMadGardener · 19/09/2022 14:10

On the red button they've just shown some guests/minor royals disembarking from minibuses at Windsor Castle and going indoors for lunch.

Outside the castle there are various troops doing a bit of preparatory marching about.

whimsicalwillow · 19/09/2022 14:11

Missed the first thread.
I thought it was beautifully done. At the beginning of the procession with the bagpipes and beat of the drums I found so moving. Everyone knew their role and without fuss did it so professionally. I felt proud to be British today.

That was the best bit!!
