Do you think they will step on the gas a bit to Windsor? It will be a slow journey otherwise

Hope not because I'm waiting by the road in west london

Elderflower14 · 19/09/2022 13:47

A very well organised service...

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 13:47

Do you think Charles and Anne are sitting in their cars saying well done, we got through that bit.

PeloFondo · 19/09/2022 13:47

What's with the three cheers?!

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 13:47

At least some of them can have a break now before the next service. Not princess Anne though, going in the car behind. She won't have had a break all day, nowhere to stop. Well trained bladder I guess. And even George and Charlotte must have pretty well trained bladders by now!!

I hope Anne gets a drink and snack in the car

Meili04 · 19/09/2022 13:47

Why are people cheering it's not a wedding ?!!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 19/09/2022 13:47

Urgh yes, polite clapping is just about acceptable but whooping is very undignified!

The entire ceremony was so moving and respectful. Very fortunate for it to be televised and for everyone to be able to witness it. I’m aghast that some think it is appropriate to complain about it being televised. Life is short and sometimes you need to take a pause and appreciate history in the making.

There are many more days where people can watch absolute drivel on tv. Such a sheer lack of respect for some on this thread.

👏🏼

Loveholidaystoomuch · 19/09/2022 13:47

What happened to the navy sailor? Was he all right? I missed that

Vapeyvapevape · 19/09/2022 13:47

What a magnificent ceremony.

What is wrong with people hip-hip-hooraying a coffin??

I don't personally mind that it's the whistling and random cheering makes me cringe.

cushioncovers · 19/09/2022 13:44

Changed over to itv now fed up of the jabbering on bbc

Probably a bit late, but BBC red button also has a no commentary broadcast which has made it far more watchable since I found it mid-morning.

Just wish I could mute the crowd cheering and hollering now - three cheers ffs!

SoupDragon · 19/09/2022 13:48

JustLyra · 19/09/2022 13:38

The little details are so meticulous - the hearse just as an E on the side. Not ER.

It's the Queen's personal royal cypher apparently.

TokyoSushi · 19/09/2022 13:48

I wonder what they're doing about lunch? Maybe they have packed lunches for the car?!

Theredjellybean · 19/09/2022 13:48

Princess Anne has accompanied her mother's coffin the whole time. So it seems right she is immediately behind the hearse.

Tbh the whole uniform thing is ridiculous.

I was watching the maddness of king George last night and one of the artisto fops around the king said " oh look I think they made me duke/bishop of blah" whilst admiring one of his medals!

Harry has done time and earned the right to be actually proudof his military service.

No one is preventing him being proud of it but people can not wear uniforms they are not entitled to wear. Many people serve in our armed forces. They can not wear their uniforms afterwards unless they have reached a certain rank. It's the same for every veteran.

He looked very wobbly.

Ah, thanks. I did not know that's where they were - I thought they were all in the cathedral. My monarchy knowledge is a bit lacking, it seems!

Westminster Abbey is where royals used to be buried (IIRC they have run out of room). Westminster Cathedral is the mother church of the Catholic church in England & Wales, so HM wouldn't be buried there. Not unless you wanted Henry VIII to turn in his grave.

MenopauseSucks · 19/09/2022 13:49

Damn - why didn't anyone say about the red button before???

Lonelycrab · 19/09/2022 13:50

The anthem at the end got me. And I say that as a definite Republican.

It was the lone bagpiper that got me.

TulipTuesday · 19/09/2022 13:50

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 19/09/2022 13:40

I was singing along with it, for the queen, one last time.

Me too 😢

Bunnycat101 · 19/09/2022 13:50

There must be some security people breathing a heavy sigh of relief now the procession is over. I can’t imagine how much has gone on behind the scenes to make things safe for everyone involved.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 13:51

Yes Lulu. Correct.

And Harry can take personal pride in his actual service not the uniforms part.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 13:51

Bunny cat absolutely!!

Imagine!
