Are Zara and the Wessex children there? The duchess of Gloucester was obviously in one of the cars as she is there

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 13:33

Those pall bearers have stamina and a half!

I think Royal Warrants have to be re-applied for; something to do with the number of years a company has supplied the household or other arcane batshittery — I love this kind of fun fact 😏

Yes, just because the Queen used the company, doesn't mean the King will use them. But there is a grace period of 2 years before they have to stop using it, so they won't disappear immediately.

Diegofrompennyburn · 19/09/2022 13:33

Won't Kate have a marmalade sandwich in her handbag? For later?

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 13:33

I’ll be glad when the Queen is at rest, tbh. It feels like she hasn’t been able to stop, even in death. She’s gone from pillar to post.

Where do the likes of Biden, Trudeau etc go after the service?

I think there is a reception at the foreign office or something

ApolloandDaphne · 19/09/2022 13:33

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 13:33

I wonder if the tv cameras deliberately look away during the coffin lifting just in case it slips a bit?!

I wondered that too.

SpinCityBlues · 19/09/2022 13:33

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 13:17

Why can people not understand the rules about uniforms?

Every member of the armed forces knows and understands that once they are no longer serving they will not wear uniform unless they have reached the rank where that is allowed. That doesn’t in any way take away from their service nor their pride!

I suppose maybe it's because in some people's eyes the royal family 'break the rules' all the time with their honorary titles, uniforms, ranks and promotions.

It's been called 'dress up' and 'cosplay' on other threads. So maybe there's a feeling - rightly or wrongly - that the RF break the rules when they want to, and don't break rules that they could break when they want to, iyswim, and that Charles could and should have granted Harry's wish. Just a thought. I'm not saying I agree with it.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 19/09/2022 13:34

I just want to applaud those ratings pulling the gun carriage - magnificent, disciplined. All of them in fact.

MumofSpud · 19/09/2022 13:34

Without meaning to sound disrespectful to Canada, why were the Mounties leading ?

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 13:34

I never did see the bus for the foreign heads of state and whether they all went off in it again to the reception

Mingling and networking in the aisles?

SoupDragon · 19/09/2022 13:31

And yet here you are posting on a thread specifically about the funeral. 🙄

Is there a thread dedicated to people who are fed up with it being crammed down our throats 24/7 in the media? Please provide a link. It’s like when Mandela came out of jail.

Kite22 · 19/09/2022 13:34

Can anyone tell me who the older gentleman (in uniform) is that was walking behind Harry ?

spanieleyes · 19/09/2022 13:34

You'd hope the gun carriage crew could have a chat and a slow amble back to barracks but I imagine they will have to March all the way back too!

I believe the Foreign Secretary hosts heads of state afterwards.
Dunno if its local pizza hut, Carlon Gardens or elsewhere

You're free to start one.

The Duke of Gloucester

powershowerforanhour · 19/09/2022 13:35

The way the pallbearers smoothly levitate that heavy coffin up and get it on their shoulders like magic is what gets me. Their forearm strength must be amazing.

MinglingFlamingo · 19/09/2022 13:35

Was wondering this too

Andante57 · 19/09/2022 13:32

Oh no, more coffin carrying! It’s so tense.
I really admire the pall bearers and their families must be dying of pride.

I've been admiring the seamless way they go from facing the coffin to carrying it. You hardly see the movement.

Cherryblossoms85 · 19/09/2022 13:35

Thought I wasn't that fussed about all this, last 10 days really put me off, and now I'm absolutely gripped and proud of my adopted country.

Absolutely nothing preventing you from starting one.
