IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

"Not everyone ge is closing.
I'm opening my cafe. Wasn't going to because of the disrespectful bullshit but my customers hve been asking me to so I will. And being respectful won't pay my bills"

Absolutely should be your decision,

We had an email from a local trampoline place this morning to confirm they are open all day on Monday. I can imagine they will be busy as people will be looking for stuff to do with their kids.

No one is forcing people to go out. People can stay home if they want to watch the funeral. But I also equally believe people shouldn't be forced into a day being stuck at home if they don't want that. We have all had enough of that with covid.

What. The. Hell?!

Now that is bonkers and 100% virtue signal

Brilliant!

Baystard · 17/09/2022 16:54

Remember this circus is keeping the cost of living crisis off the front pages.

@PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior Agreed. I'm following RTE and Irish Times regularly at the moment, both of which have significantly more relevant-to-UK news content at the moment than the BBC are carrying.

I actually think people flogging wristbands on Ebay is treating the whole thing with the level of dignity it deserves.

This is just shameful. The actual family members are managing to stay stone faced, but people who had no connection to her are doing this...

@YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse
I agree with more or less every poster on this thread regarding the funeral specifically, and the Royal Family/Monarchy in general.
I get completely what point you're making, but I do think it's a bit mean including the photo of these members of the public.
I know that if you're in that crowd, you run the risk of being photographed, but I think they'd be horrified to find themselves being derided and mocked on Mumsnet...........sorry.

TarasHarp55 · 17/09/2022 18:39

Sick of being made to feel guilty for not being distraught for someone we don't know and someone who wouldn't have give a damn about us. One of my "friends" on FB said she feels like she's lost her gran. I can't think of anyone less like a typical gran.

TarasHarp55 · 17/09/2022 18:45

I don't understand why it's a "mark of respect" to shut everything down. Just seems bizarre. Surely the hugely expensive funeral would be enough respect.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 17/09/2022 18:47

Couldn't care less @LindyLou2020 - they were on the Daily Mail home page for goodness' sake, and were clearly content with public grieving 🤷🏻‍♀️

She can't have loved her gran very much
My 80 year mum lost her 85 year old brother a couple of months ago some idiot asked her if she's Been crying for the Queen ,she told them she hssent been able to cry for her brother yet so she's certainly not going to cry for a stranger

Confused

Oh dear why do people feel they can speak for the entire nation?

TarasHarp55 · 17/09/2022 19:02

The fact that the queen has 100 homes disgusts me, and I'm sick of hearing that she doesn't actually own Buckingham Palace so having over £3 hundred million spent on renovations is for our benefit. Really? So I can move in next week can I.....

But why the hell so many palaces, all fully staffed and operational? The over indulgence and privilege this family gets is obscene.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 17/09/2022 19:02

Jesus suffering fuck, that note is tragic.

Do some people genuinely have this depth of feeling for a stranger? I'm not sneering I just absolutely cannot get my head around it.

They do for cult-leaders 😬

Even the queen would've balked at that note!

TarasHarp55 · 17/09/2022 19:15

All the stupid fawners excusing Charles's nasty behaviour to his staff. "He's under stress" "give him a break he's just lost his mum"......Haha what will the excuses be a year from now. Why don't they see it, that is the nature of the man. It'll get worse.

x2boys · 17/09/2022 19:16

I mean I wasn't upset when Diana died ,but it was sad seeing the young princes walking behind her coffin and she was only 36 so I can understand why people did get upset to some extent, but this is just lunacy .

Well, a 36 year old dying is objectively sad. For a 14 and 12 year old to lose their mother is heartbreaking. I think anyone when told about the bare facts of that situation would've said shit, that's really awful. Whereas a 96 year old dying with her loved ones around her after a full and seemingly happy life, that's how it ought to be. Maybe it's the Celt in me but since we all have to die sometime, going like that is actually something to celebrate.

OneFrenchEgg · 17/09/2022 19:31

That note is vomit inducing. Almost a competition now to stand out and Be Noticed.
Just read Harry and Meghan have been disinvited to the evening state vip posh dignitaries bash on Sunday night. Which just underlines how ridiculous it is to have a Royal Family and a family all mixed up. So his dad and brother are Working Royals and get to go and have sympathies etc but he doesn't because that not his job. Ridiculous.

I would get rid of all of them but I dont get the hate for Harry and Meghan, they are no worse than the others

Yes, I hope I was clear I was expressing how stupid it was not to invite them. I have a lot of sympathy for them wanting to escape.

Yes me too and the constant hatred on here for them both pisses me off whatever they do it's wrong .

Yup. Like the silly moo ignoring her in the crowd like she did something.
