IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

Well it didn't take long for the whole rehabilitation of Andrew did it. First the flower walk, then the coffin walk, now the full uniform for the vigil. We are fools.

The whole thing is a bloody farce with them all in full military uniform and their umpteen military medals most of them haven't seen active service it's pathetic.

Yes, already ridiculous and now insulting. They just do what they want and use the flag wavers to justify it.

There'll be a year of 'awwwww his mum just died' then everyone will move on. I won't. But a lot will.

There's an argument when it's Bowie and Elvis to separate the man and the art. But there's no art to separate. It's just the 'man'.

OneFrenchEgg · 16/09/2022 20:54

I'll join you. This whole charade has be looking to join Republic campaign groups. I feel like the UK has lost its mind. None of them think we are anything other than subjects. I'm old enough to remember the whole Camilla won't be the Queen Consort stuff, although I don't care - good luck to her.

Regarding covid, according to the ZOE app, cases are on the rise now the kids are back to school and their stats are showing 1 in 42 people are infected at the moment. My partner is just getting over it and I’ve started sneezing but still negative. I definitely predict the mass gatherings and travel involved with these, will spark an uptick in cases.

At least the train strike scheduled for today has been postponed...I can now get to the gig I have so been looking forward to, with relative ease, every cloud and all that.

Fingers crossed 🤞 the gig doesn't get post.poned out of "respect ".

I just hope it isn't a wet day because about the only option for something to do is a walk or the beach.

Not everyone ge is closing.
I'm opening my cafe. Wasn't going to because of the disrespectful bullshit but my customers hve been asking me to so I will. And being respectful won't pay my bills

It's inspired.

The 'gone from bard to verse' slogan above the closure notice to Shakespeare's grave had me in convulsions. (I know, doesn't take much to make me laugh but in the current climate humour is in pretty short supply).

I think they are the same creators as the ones behind Poppy Watch, that other celebration of enforced, performative displays and outraged shrieking of 'burn the witch' toward those who no longer pin this now emotionally-charged, politically-censorious symbol on our overcoats. Ironic, given what the thing was actually supposed to represent in the first place.

Kudos - hope you drum up a lot of business from those who did bow down to the crazy pressure that is out there.

It isn't a show of 'respect' - at all. It's a show of lily-livered, performative capitulation. And I can sympathize: there is a LOT of that about in the sector in which I work at present (ie. announcing pronouns at meetings and in Zoom signatures).

I'll die on that particular hill.

TheBolsheviks · 17/09/2022 13:11

Thank you for this thread. My DD is waiting for major and hopefully life changing surgery. Her surgeon operating day is a Monday and always has a full list. This Monday’s list will most likely be cancelled due to the bank holiday. Those cancelled operations will need to be rescheduled thus our DD’s wait will be longer !!
Plus while the BBC spend hours after hours on the queue and the royals, a mass grave has been found in Ukraine ! That should be headline news !!

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 17/09/2022 13:29

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 15/09/2022 21:43

The BBC is currently interviewing someone who met the Queen once in 2017.

This is our national news service.

He just said 'it was like watching someone's grandmother walk in, I was completely gobsmacked'.

What this is bringing to the world, only the BBC knows.

The BBC are scared. They know how the Tories will respond to them offering anything other than wall to wall crawly bumlick for as long as possible. Remember this circus is keeping the cost of living crisis off the front pages.

Novella4 · 17/09/2022 13:40

It's brainwashing too.

I don't believe for a minute that the queue is made up of people there for love of the queen . The media have continued to push this as an event and the royals benefit .

Ugh .
Threads like this are so refreshing . Just a few days to go !

Novella4 · 17/09/2022 13:47

Re the Andrew rehabilitation, I wonder if some people royalists are looking for any excuse to put it all behind them .

They say 'he's vile ' but then start a subtle defence .
Some of the royalist on other threads seemed shocked re Camilla and Charles living in separate houses , they can't see that William and Kate look miserable as sin etc- they don't want to know . They want a fairy tale
I wish they'd grow up
